Sounds like KQQZ-1190 in DeSoto, MO, is on their daytime power. They are
putting a monster signal into the southeast Houston area this morning. Music
format is classic country-western. I've heard various slogans like 1190 KQQZ,

And hat up the road in Beaumont, TX they are buried in the mud ... I hear
it but barely.

Hi all,
I heard KQQZ for the first time last night at 0600 UTC (1:00 am
their time). I'm strongly suspecting they were on day power (to get
through CFSL is an accomplishment), but I see they do have a CP for
somewhat more power at night (and a move to an IL Community of License).

This is an interesting situation because it usually doesn't matter when the
license to cover is granted. I'll look for it in the FCC Daily Digest. They're
usually there not long afterward but don't appear in the FCC database for quite
some time.

there WILL be one forthcoming! -- this
ought to be mentioned to their engineer(s), who, in turn, might contact the

Earlier tonight I ran across a sta on 1190 that had me perplexed for a while,
just like Rob's logging of a different sta on the same channel recently. This
one turned out to be a call letter change as detailed below. Logged on SRF-59
barefoot.
