I got an e mail from a DXer in the mountain states that he believes KEX
is running ND as they are loud there tonight. In checking the signal
here, they are louder here than usual. DXers that need KEX 1190, you
might give them a try.

Patrick,
We were driving in the Moses Lake area of Washington at sunset a few years ago
listening to KEX. The signal was good until they when to directional, signal
dropped to a poor level. KEX put a great signal into the San Francisco Bay
area after local KNBA signed off at sunset. In fact
Hello All,
The band again seemed to be stuck in a Twilight Zone between normal and auroral
conditions, with overall results even worse than yesterday. Poor-fair audio
from 738-Tahitit and 1566-HLAZ around 1315 was the only sign of TP life, and
these fizzled out well before sunrise. It was
Could someone check on this tonight, see if they are still possibly ND and, if
so, please post here? Oregon has remained frustratingly elusive for my ULR
log. Thanks!

Dennis,
It reminds me of when Bob and I were on our way back from LA and
listening to KMPC 710 in the 80s, and it was blasting in all the way
North on I-5, until around LSS when we were somewhere North of Fresno
and suddenly, it dropped off the dial. Totally gone. From probably an

Bob,
Unless someone reports it from the East, I cannot really tell here. But
apparently KEX was ND last night according to what a DXer was hearing.

A strictly DU morning here (I think; 567 remains a mystery), and lest Gary point
out that while he hears the Chinese and Koreans, I get to hear the DUs, I must
say that most everything heard this morning was quite erratic, and dug out of
the undergrowth by using the DX Fishbarrel and/or playing

I recorded the last two hours of KLYC's sign-off at 1:00 PM PDT. The first
hour saved to the computer fine. The final hour recorded - I even played it
back - but there was some glitch somewhere and it saved nothing. I clicked
save as like usual and then save again, only to have a dialog box
Wow Nick,
That's the most diverse list of DU's that I've seen since the Rockwork cliff
last August. It's nice to know that somebody had fun this morning!

Hi Dennis,
I appreciate you recording the station sign-off.

WUMY-830 Memphis is currently blasting away everything else (2130 EDT), running
classic country and ID after every song as Y105.5, // webstream. No comment as
to whether or not is their new authorized 2 watt (!) night power. This at St.
Louis, Missouri.
KKOW-860 Pittsburg Kansas is absolutely destroying CJBC in St. Louis Missouri
at 2200 EDT, running classic country //web stream. This would be very
unexpected, given their authorized night pattern.

Wonder why the FCC gave this one a fulltime CP? Ever since the breakup of the
clears started in 1982, a minimum 750-mile separation from the dominant clear
has been required if the station wants to be a U instead of a D. Memphis is
only 701 miles from Minneapolis, so by the FCC's own rules,
A strange definition of fun indeed Gary.Winkling those signals
out was hard work, hi. Certainly if you heard my audio recordings
compared with some of yours, you would advise me to come back when
the signals were stronger. Extreme minimalist DXing indeed.

WUMY 830 kHz is putting a good signal into north central Oklahoma tonight.
If this is permanent, WCCO is no longer a clear channel here.

I now have the final hour of the KLYC sign off broadcast. The file is 27.90 mb
and yahoo has a limit size of 25 mb. When I get the file under 25 mb I will
send it out.
