It was remarkable to hear Bill Whitacre's success this morning when
conditions out here were generally just plain bad. Bad in an odd way
though. Only 693 produced any audio from the Japanese big guns, I
hardly had a carrier on 972, yet 1422 was at a level I don't typically
get except on
This "West Rockingham" mystery station is back again tonight on 1710 (0200
UTC Nov.14th, 2018). Very weak copy on my South DKAZ. Pro sounding male
announcer with bells heard signaling 0200 UTC top of hour, weather
forecasts (snow) given between songs ranging from the 1940s through the
1970s.
Hoping someone can solve my mystery. Had the usual two (CJRB and
KDDR) competing on 1220 overnight, when a third station briefly popped
up with the end of an ID "...now on 96.3 FM".
Haven't had any luck tracking down any 1220 station with a 96.3
translator, so if someone knows more I'd be
Bill, I just spent about 15 minutes working my way up the band 9kHz-stepwise on
the KiwiSDR... it's 3:30pm Central time right now, and it fries my little brain
to be able to:
1) hear TA audio on nearly every 9-kHz channel;
2) note that many of the 1- or 2-kHz splits are loud enough to

774 JOUB was barely audible at 1158-1200 and again briefly at 1217.
No other TP signals were heard this morning.

My congratulations too, Bill. And, I wouldn't worry about having missed
anything Bruce. Bill apparently absorbed pretty much all of the DX
before it had a chance to get here

Congratulations Bill. Those are nice recordings for that far east.
I'm not sure how conditions were today in Seattle. My scheduled
recording failed, and I didn't get up until about 1500 UT.

Bill, you and the Nfld gang have again lucked out. For Listening Waters,
it's almost like a curse, that we consistently miss out on TP (the week
before and the week after always deliver, by contrast!). I'm jealous, but
happy for you guys! 73, Walt

I had the good fortune of having my antenna(s) survive an all-day-rain
yesterday and a huge increase in wind and decrease in temperature overnight AND
being part of a TP opening this morning from Quoddy House near Lubec, Maine.

Sounds like Korea to me Jim. I’ll take a look for the sign ons from India —
it’s not that common here.
Safe travel home and regards to the others … even Chuck. ;-)

First file check reveals 3+1 pips 1000z on 972. Thanks for the tip. But
now I'm packing for departure so I'll have to check files when I return
home, with 4 wires and signals recorded 1728z to 1128z each day it might
take a while to get through them!

Great job, Bill!
There's nothing like an experienced TP-DXer to make out like a bandit when
Asian signals show up on the East Coast :-)

972 was loudest, starting at <1000utc then 1206 [China in Korean] and then the
Japanese on 774 & 747 came in well later.
Sunrise is around 1100utc here so things are pretty much done as I write this.
Hopefully it’ll be there tomorrow or you can check wav files.

I’ve had pretty decent audio so far on 972, 1206, 1287 and to a lesser extent
on 774 and 1566.
Pretty amazing, actually.
More to follow … with audio.
