Something that sounds like a sports station, ID sounds something like "???
Nation Radio", and around 0055 "Gold Standard Radio". Any ideas? There
are not many domestics at night on 1090.

Nothing from Japan this morning. The only Asian heard was a weak
Korea at 1356. Other than that it was Australia, with audio today on
774, 792, and 1548 between 1345 and 1410. All pretty weak, though
1548 had a brief spike to fair before fading out.

Earlier this evening Scott Fybush shared the news that WBAL would be doing
some transmitter work this morning, and might be off at times. At 0010 EST
talk show about Maryland politics. At 0030 EST I note what I think is WBAL
talk completely drowned out by what sounds like an airplane engine.
More DU today, but otherwise, it was big guns acting like very little guns
indeed.
pretty darn good audio (all of it understandable by a native speaker, at least
briefly):

Reasonable audio at times during the period (much of it understandable by a

Apologies for the late notice... but DXers for whom WBAL is a pest might
want to hang out on 1090 after midnight tonight. While I was visiting
there today, their engineer said they were planning some maintenance work
tonight that might have them off the air at least briefly.
Go get 'em!

Absolutely, Colin. I drove there from Toronto back in 1981, and still
consider it the best air museum I’ve ever visited! Walt

Colin,
The National Museum of the Air Force is about an hour north in Dayton -
that is a fantastic place to visit. You can easily spend the day there.

Any tips on historic radio stuff in Cincinnati, meet-ups, dining and
attractions would be appreciated.
I know the VOA Museum is there - as well as a WLW museum of sorts...
anything I am missing?

Thanks to a last-minute ‘flash sale’ from Alaska Airlines I made my 19th trip
to Grayland, Washington a couple of weeks ago. Propagation conditions were not
great but following the motto “everything’s better at the beach” I persevered.
You can see and hear what I heard on this webpage:
The Chinese-made Radiwow R-108 is a very compact AM-FM-LW-SW-AIR portable which
has recently become available to North American purchasers via eBay, where it
is currently offered at various prices (the lowest being $49.98, including free
