Hi, fellas. I did attempt to listen this morning from Cannon Beach, OR, but
the winds were howling all night long with storm force winds, and our south
facing veranda had pretty much horizontal rain. Instead, I listened from
close to the window with Gary's modified Tecsun ULR with the larger
Tried briefly around 15:00 this morning from Cannon Beach, OR. The wicked
southerly storms died down enough to give it a try, but I heard nothing on
the Tecsun ULR. By the way, had hail last night! .Walt Salmaniw (now

Same here an hour later, Nick at 15:12 check. Lot's of strong carriers and
threshold audio on those same frequencies. Best audio on 1422 with music.
Also some DU activity too, with weak audio on 612. Fair to good audio on

Coming in very well right now (15:42 UTC) on 1580, while I was tuning down
to 1575. They're not far away, on the junction of HWY 101 and State Route

this was reported.Walt Salmaniw, Victoria, BC
Finally, I hear it as well on the west coast. Clear visible on 1589 and
1591 on the Perseus waterfall. This is using a corner fed loop aimed to the
west. Not so well heard/seen on the ALA 100 N/S loopWalt (all this

Patrick, I have used many of them. The Bose $300 or so are superb (my wife has
a pair for flights). I use the Bose Aviation headphones when I fly (I'm a
pilot), but their around $1k. The cheap ones are just thathelp a bit, but
mostly aren't worth much. Walt

A bit off-topic, but with a sizeable DXer population in the north-west, I'm
hearing an unidentified transmitter on this very strange frequency. Most of
the time, they relay 92.9 KISM, Bellingham, WA which is quite close to me, and
easy to hear on a portable. But, this is not always the case.
Right, I didn't think it was a studio link either, especially since it's in
the point to point air band, I believe. No transmitter on that frequency,
and the air band, besides, is USB. Patrick, try again after sun down, as
it's audible in Seattle, so with your super antennae, you should be able
