Re: [IRCA] 1610-UnID Spanish Blaster

2017-02-03 Thread d1028gary
Thanks Richard.

The phone number in Spanish at the end of the MP3 was translated by Andy
Gardner (of New Zealand) as the number of the Anglican diocese of Toronto,
Ontario, so the recording is indeed from 1610-CHHA. The huge signal was a quite
a surprise on a 5" mini FSL, which apparently happened only because of enhanced
propagation around sunrise at the transmitter site in Toronto.

Thanks Chuck (and all). Your investigation is appreciated.

Apparently my antenna testing around 1145 UTC coincided directly with
1610-CHHA's local sunrise in Toronto, resulting in the freakishly strong signal
for the 6.25 kW station at 2,065 miles (3,323 km).

Actually, Walt, your recent 1610-CHHA reports were what motivated me to
investigate this, although the reception occurred in mid-December. Originally I
thought that a new Spanish pest station had started broadcasting in Tacoma, WA
(5 miles away :-)
