After months of trying to get rid of an old tree that came down, I decided to
just put the Beverage back up and deal with the tree root later. One thing, it
is not a good idea to let a Beverage lay dormant for a year and let it get over
run by brambles. I found a break and replaced some of the wire, and untangled
it, cut away the branches and brambles in the way, and I have it back. Took
about an hour one day (ran out of daylight), and three hours yesterday. I am
scratched up a bit, but other than that, okay. The Beverage works as good as
ever, but I have found the noise level has increased. One thing I forgot I had
were a couple RF choke boxes John Bryant suggested I build to stabilize the
antenna coax coming in. I had disconnected those a while back, and I found
running the coax through that knocked the noise level way down. I will see what
difference it makes during the day when signals are lower. But the Beverage
does work fine. 740 is a jumble mess nulling KCBS. I notice
d a strong KJRB 790, which is odd as they are supposed to null the West. I
have not heard them in years. Caught them running Oldies. But at least I do
have one my antennas back up an running.
