Give to your close relatives what they need, and also give generously to the

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] The Greatness of Aayat al Kursiy

2007-09-05 Thread Online Dawah

   Subhanallah-e-wabehamdihi Subhanallah-il-Azeem

The Greatness of Aayat al Kursiy

Question:

What is the significance of surah II and Aayat 255?
Is there any proof of the greatness of this Surah?

Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.

Imaam Ibn Katheer (may Allaah have mercy onhim) said in
his Tafseer of Aayatal-Kursiy from Sooratal-Baqarah:

This is Aayatal-Kursiy, which has a high status. It was
reported in a saheeh hadeeth from the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah
be upon him) that it is the greatest aayah in the Book of Allaah…

It was narrated from Ubayy, i.e., Ubayy ibn Ka’b that the Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him) asked him which aayah in the Book of Allaah
was the greatest. He said, “Allaah and His Messenger know best.” He repeated it
several times, then he said, “Aayatal-Kursiy.” The Prophet (peace
and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “Congratulations upon your knowledge
O Abu’l-Mundhir. By the One in Whose hand is my soul, it has a tongue and two
lips, and it glorifies the Sovereign (i.e., Allaah) at the foot of the Throne.”
This was also narrated by Muslim, without the phrase “By the One in Whose hand
is my soul…”.

It was narrated from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Ubayy ibn Ka’b that his father
told him that he had a vessel in which he kept dates. He used to check on it
and found that the number was decreasing. So he kept guard on it one night and
saw a beast that looked like an adolescent boy. He said: “I greeted him with
salaams and he returned my greeting, then I asked him, ‘What are you, a jinn or
a human?’ He said, ‘A jinn.’ I said to him, ‘Show me your hand.’ So he showed
me his hand, and it looked like a dog’s paw with dog’s fur. I said, ‘Do all the
jinn look like this?’ He said, ‘I know no one among the jinn who is stronger
than I.’ I said, ‘What made you do what you did [i.e., taking the dates]?’ He
said, ‘We heard that you are a man who loves charity, and we wanted to have
some of your food.’” Ubayy asked him, “What will protect us from you?” He said,
“This aayah, Aayatal-Kursiy.” Then the next day he [Ubayy] went to
the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be
upon him) and told him (about what had happened) and he said, “The evil one
spoke the truth.”…

Imaam Ahmad narrated: Muhammad ibn Ja’far told us, ‘Uthmaan ibn
‘Itaab told us, he said: I heard Abu’l-Sulayl saying: a man from among the
companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) addressed
the people until a large number had gathered around him, then he climbed onto
the roof of a house and addressed the people, saying: “The Messenger of Allaah
(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘Which aayah of the Qur’aan
is the greatest?’ A man said, ‘ “Allaah! Laa ilaaha illa Huwa (none has the
right to be worshipped but He), the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and
protects all that exists…” [al-Baqarah 2:255 – Aayat al-Kursi – interpretation
of the meaning].’ He said: he put his hand between my shoulders and I felt
coolness in the center of my chest, or he put his hand on the center of my
chest and I felt coolness between my shoulders, and he said, ‘Congratulations
on your knowledge, O Abu’l-Mundhir.”

It was narrated that Abu Dharr (may Allaah be pleased with him) said:
“I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) whilst he
was in the mosque and sat down. He said, ‘O Abu Dharr, did you pray?’ I said,
‘No.’ He said, ‘ Get up and pray.’ So I got up and prayed, then I came and sat
down. He said, ‘O Abu Dharr, seek refuge with Allaah from the devils of men and
jinn.’ I said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, are there devils among men?’ He said,
‘Yes.’ I said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, what about salaah?’ He said, ‘It is the
best, so let whoever wants to, do a little of it and let whoever wants to, do
more of it.’ I said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, what about fasting?’ He said, ‘It
is obligatory and it is good, and the reward with Allaah is greater.’ I said,
‘O Messenger of Allaah, what about sadaqah (charity)?’ He said, ‘Allaah
multiplies it many times over.’ I said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, what (charity)
is best?’ He said, ‘What a person gives at times of
hardship, or what he gives in secret to a poor person.’ I said, ‘O Messenger
of Allaah, which of the Prophets was first?’ He said, ‘Adam.’ I said, ‘O
Messenger of Allaah, was he a Prophet?’ He said, ‘Yes, a Prophet to whom Allaah
spoke.’ I said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, how many Messengers are there?’ He
said. ‘Three hundred and umpteen, a great crowd.’ And once he said, ‘(Three
hundred and) fifteen.’ I said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, what is the greatest
thing that has been revealed to you?’ He said, ‘Aayat al-Kursiy, “Allaah! Laa

If there were a threat level on the possibility of war with Iran, it
might have just gone up to orange. Barnett Rubin, the highly respected
Afghanistan expert at New York University, has written an account of a
conversation with a friend who has connections to someone at a
neoconservative institution in Washington. Rubin can't confirm his
friend's story; neither can I. But it's worth a heads-up:

They [the source's institution] have "instructions" (yes, that was the
word used) from the Office of the Vice-President to roll out a
campaign for war with Iran in the week after Labor Day; it will be
coordinated with the American Enterprise Institute, the Wall Street
Journal, the Weekly Standard, Commentary, Fox, and the usual suspects.
It will be heavy sustained assault on the airwaves, designed to knock
public sentiment into a position from which a war can be maintained.
Evidently they don't think they'll ever get majority support for
this—they want something like 35-40 percent support, which in their
book is "plenty."

True? I don't know. Plausible? Absolutely. It follows the pattern of
the P.R. campaign that started around this time in 2002 and led to the
Iraq war. The President's rhetoric on Iran has been nothing short of
bellicose lately, warning of "the shadow of a nuclear holocaust." And
the Iranian government's behavior—detaining British servicemen and
arresting American passport holders, pushing ahead with uranium
enrichment, and, by many reliable accounts, increasing its funding and
training for anti-American militias in Iraq—seems intentionally
provocative. Perhaps President Ahmedinejad and the mullahs feel that
they win either way: they humiliate the superpower if it doesn't take
the bait, and they shore up their deeply unpopular regime at home if
it does. Preëmptive war requires calculations (and, often,
miscalculations) on two sides, not just one, as Saddam learned in
2003. When tensions are this high between two countries and powerful
factions in both act as if hostilities are in their interest, war is
likely to follow.

It's one thing for the American Enterprise Institute, the Weekly
Standard, et al to champion a war they support. It's another to jump
like circus animals at the crack of the White House whip. If the
propaganda campaign predicted by Rubin's friend is launched, less
subservient news organizations should ask certain questions, and keep
asking them: Does the Administration expect the Iranian regime to fall
in the event of an attack? If yes, what will replace it? If no (and it
will not), why would the Administration deliberately set about to
strengthen the regime's hold on power? What will the Administration do
to protect highly vulnerable American lives and interests in Iraq,
Afghanistan, and around the world against the Iranian reprisals that
will follow? What if Iran strikes against Israel? What will be the
strategy when the Iranian nuclear program, damaged but not destroyed,
resumes? How will the Administration handle the international alarm
and opprobrium that would be an attack's inevitable fallout?

If this really is a return to the early fall of 2002 all over again,
then I'm fairly sure that no one at the top of the Administration is
worrying about the answers.

Postscript: Barnett Rubin just called me. His source spoke with a
neocon think-tanker who corroborated the story of the propaganda
campaign and had this to say about it: "I am a Republican. I am a
conservative. But I'm not a raging lunatic. This is lunatic."

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Signs Within Ourselves

2007-09-05 Thread Shahid Khan

*Signs Within Ourselves*

*We will show Our signs to them in the universe, and in their own selves,
until it becomes manifest to them that this (the Qur'an) is the truth. Is it
not sufficient in regard to your Lord that He is a witness over all things?
(Qur'an, 41:53)** *

**

The Qur'an uses "nafs" (self) to express consciousness, the quintessence of
our personality. "Nafs" is integrated with our physical body; the author of
all good and bad acts is our "nafs."

The atoms of our physical body - of which 99 percent is vacuum - deprived of
all consciousness, perform such conscious acts as seeing, hearing, and
thinking.

The verse above alludes to signs in our selves. There are a priori
categories that the mind is constitutionally endowed with, concepts or ideas
that are not derived from experience.

Here we find ourselves surrounded by available data of a rich philosophical
background. The tribe to which the Prophet (peace be upon him) belonged
dealt in trade and animal husbandry. The Prophet (peace be upon him) himself
was not brought up in a milieu like Plato's Academy or in an environment
where the colorful and lively schools of philosophy like Cartesianism
flourished. Therefore, the fact that the Qur'an made a distinction between
the outward signs and the signs imminent in man's soul is noteworthy.

The basic message transmitted by all the religions revealed by God is the
fact that He is a Perfect Being. This becomes all the more apparent when we
witness all the entities created by God. In the ontological argument,
attainment of God is achieved not through exterior means, but from the idea
of "Perfection" or "Perfect Being" inherent in each of us.

Farabi and Avicenna were among the first philosophers to refer to the
initial arguments of ontology. Farabi analyzes the ontological argument
together with the cosmological argument. According to them, God must be
self-existent (Necessary-Being); assuming that He does not exist would be a
contradiction in terms. All other creatures are possible creatures; both
their existence and nonexistence can be a topic of discussion. If the
possible entities are not resolved in the Necessary-Being, there would be a
contradiction in terms. Given the fact that Farabi's conclusion is a
combination of ontological and cosmological arguments, many thinkers are
believed to have found traces of this for the first time in the works of
Avicenna.

Nevertheless, this argument is, more often than not, associated with
Descartes. To avoid committing error, he sets out in his philosophical quest
by considering all past knowledge as if it were nonexistent. He begins with
the statement that many of the preconceived opinions he has accepted since
childhood have turned out to be unreliable; so it is necessary once in a
lifetime to demolish everything and start again right from the foundations.
There follows a systematic critique of previous beliefs. Anything based on
the senses is potentially suspect, since I have found by experience that the
senses sometimes deceive and it is prudent never to trust completely those
who have deceived us even once.

Elsewhere Descartes expresses this "cogito argument" in the famous phrase,
"cogito ergo sum" (I think, therefore I am). He derives from this argument
that he exists incontestably and that thinking can never be confuted. Later
he realizes that knowing is more perfect than doubting and explains how this
idea of perfection leads him to the most perfect, to the idea of a supremely
Perfect Being.

He reasons that the representational content (or objective reality) of this
idea is so great that it cannot have originated from inside his own
(imperfect) mind, but must have been planted in him by an actual Perfect
Being - God. Things outside him like the sky, the earth, the light and the
heat and a thousand other things, all these things contained nothing that
would surpass him. If they were unreal he might have concluded that he had
acquired them from the void. However, this could not hold true of a Perfect
Being. He could not have acquired it from nothingness.

Descartes concluded the existence of God after having examined the evidence
inherent in the self. He said that this conclusion was not an invention of
his imagination, and that to add or subtract anything to or from it was
beyond him. He had to accept the fact that he had come to the world with
this a priori sign. Like the initials that an artist imprints on his work,
God had implanted this idea as He created him.

*Blessing in Disguise*

THE only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited
island

He prayed Allah to rescue him, and every day he scanned the horizon for
help, but none seemed forthcoming.

Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to
protect him and to store his few possessions.

But then one day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his
little hut in flames, the smoke leaping up to the sky. The worst had
happened; everything was lost. He was stunned with grief and anger.

"Allah, how could You do this to me!" he cried. (Comment; Plenty of people
use such statement - think again you should never question Allah nor object
to His decree).

Early the next day, however, he was awakened by the sound of a ship that was
approaching the island. It had come to rescue him.

"How did you know I was here?" asked the weary man of his rescuers. "We saw
your smoke signal," they replied.

It is easy to get discouraged when things are going badly.

But we shouldn't lose heart, because Allah is at work in our lives, even in
the midst of pain and suffering.

Remember, next time your little hut is burning to the ground - it just may
be a smoke signal that summons the Grace of Allah.

You never know when Allah is sending His mercy.

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Re Imam Wazir / Curtis Sharif & Fitna

2007-09-05 Thread Curtis Sharif
ASA, According to my understanding of the Religion of Islam, Allah command his
worshippers to fight the oppression of His Worship until it ends or your life
ends, which ever comes first.

And the sunnah of Prophet Muhammad shows that this is exactly what he and
his sahabah did , when their access to prayer and worship in Allah's House of
Worship was being blocked, the same way, at the Kabbah, by the Quraish. And
they fought physical wars against the Quraish until their oppression stopped
and they were able to pray there in peace. Then their fighting stopped.

Allah permits those whose Allahe endowed rights are being oppressed to
publically protest that oppression until it ends,

So I believe I am acting in accord with Allah's Commands, Prophet Muhammad's
Sunnah, and that what Allah has made Perrmissable, if not Obligatory.

If you truly want the situation to end. then I suggest that you work to
get those who are oppressing the worship of Allah, to stop oppressing. I am
not oppressing anyone;s right to worship anywhere, anyhow. I am only
answerign the call to prayer, as Allah command us, asking for permission to
pray and worship in Allah's House of Worship, and reporting how they respond.

Is anyone telling you where to or where not to worship? Do you, and every
other muslim, have the ongoing rught to worship at the masjid of your choice,
no matter where in the world you are? Under the principles of Freedom,
Justice, and Equality and Freedom of Religion, snd Sharia Law in Islam,
doesn't everyone have the same equal rights?

And to whom has Allah made it permissable to oppress Hiw Worship? Those who
do so intentionally with knowledge, are exhibiting the very essense of shirk.

While you are willing to ask me to worship somewhere else against my will,
are you willing, or have you asked those who are oppressing the worship of
Allah to stop their oppression?

With this Sunnah as our model, why should we do any less though the
polytheist be adverse.

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Ramadan At our doors.

2007-09-05 Thread Fasih Ur Rehman Khan

Ramadan
At our doors.

True
Ramadan isn’t come yet. Right, but for those who seek to take Allaah’s
pleasure, Ramadan has already arrived at the door.

We
will inshaAllaah plan a short series that would help us in preparing for this
blessed month, mentally and physically.

Reasons
why we must plan for Ramadan

Have
you noticed that each year, Ramadan goes by faster and faster? Personally, I can
remember details of Ramadan 11 years ago better in some ways than of Ramadan
last year. It’s frightening.

This
blessed month can’t be left to become a blur in our memories. It has to be
more than that time of the year we squeeze in fasting amongst the other things
we do daily.

One
way to make the most of Ramadan is to plan beforehand. Here are some reasons why
you should plan for Ramadan:

Reason
#1: To be in "Ramadan mode"

By
planning for Ramadan before it arrives, you put your mind in "Ramadan
mode". If you plan, you will mentally prepare for it, and it will force you
to see it as the special month it is outside of your regular routine the rest of
the year.

Reason
#2: To adjust your schedule

By
planning in advance, you can adjust your work, sleep and meal schedules in such
a way as to make time for Suhoor, Iftar, etc. That means, for instance, that if
you normally go to bed at
midnight
, in Ramadan you would sleep earlier
in order to get up early for Suhoor. Planning in advance allows you the luxury
to make time for the change in schedule that Ramadan brings.

Reason
#3: To make the menu

While
Ramadan may mean extra Ibadah to some of the brothers, it usually means extra
cooking and more than in the kitchen for most of the sisters. Ramadan’s
blessings are for men and women.

This
is not the month to try new dishes or please the family, but be modest and
increase in IBADAH.

(And
by the way, brothers, can help buy not insisting on delicious dishes and perhaps
can have an odd day every week, where you buy food from outside.)

Reason
#4: Capitalize on the fajr blessings

If
you aren’t regular with your Fajr, then perhaps this is the best time to get
fine tuned. For those who are although praying fajr but not in the Masjid,
Ramadan can be the catalyst.

Prepare
yourself mentally and as you approach end of Shabaan, get as soon as possible in
this mode.

Reason
#5: Are you ready for Quran?

We
cannot do something all of a sudden. You cannot expect to finish the entire
Qurán
in a month if you never had enjoying reading it for the last 11 months.

So
a page a day is what you must start. Perhaps, from today night is a good idea…

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] On which hand and finger should a man wear his silver ring?

2007-09-05 Thread SA PEER MOHAMED
On which hand and finger should a man wear his silver ring?
-

Answered by Shaykh Muhammad ibn Adam al-Kawthari

http://qa.sunnipath.com/issue_view.asp?id=16290&hd=7&cate=0&t=rss

Q. On which hand and finger should a man wear his silver ring? Can you please
clarify, since some people are saying it is wrong to wear the ring on the left
hand?

A.

In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,

As for which finger, most of the scholars of Hadith and Fiqh are of the opinion
that it is Sunna and recommended for a male, if he chooses to wear a silver
ring, to wear it on his little finger of the hand.

Imam Muslim (may Allah have mercy on him) reports in the chapter pertaining to
clothing and adornment (Kitab al-Libas wa'l Zina) in his Sahih from Sayyiduna
Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "The ring of the
Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) was on this", and he
pointed towards the little finger of his left hand. (Sahih Muslim, no: 2095)

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "The Messenger of Allah
(Allah bless him & give him peace) forbade me that I wear a ring on this or
this finger of mine." The narrator says that he pointed to the middle finger
and the one next to it [i.e. the index finger]." (Sahih Muslim, no: 2078)

Based on the above narrations, the renowned Shafi'i jurist and Hadith scholar,
Imam Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) states:

"Muslim scholars have agreed that it is a Sunna [for men] to wear the ring on
the little finger. As for women, they may wear rings on their various fingers."
(Al-Minhaj sharh Sahih Muslim, P: 1584)

Imam Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) then explains the reason for wearing
the ring on the little finger. He says that the other fingers are more
frequently used when utilizing the hand, whilst the little finger is not so
frequently used due to it being at the corner of the hand. As such, he says, it
is somewhat disliked (makruh tanzih) for a man to wear his silver ring on the
middle and index fingers. (ibid)

In light of the above reasoning given by Imam Nawawi and others, we can add
that the thumb would probably take the same ruling as that of the middle and
index fingers, since the thumb is also frequently used. As for the "ring"
finger, due to it being close to the little finger and also not being
frequently used, one may wear his ring on it.

As for which hand, there are somewhat conflicting reports regarding the
practice of the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace). Some
narrations indicate that he wore his ring on his right hand, whilst others
indicate that he wore it on his left hand.

Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that "the
Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) wore a silver ring on his
right hand which had an Abyssinian stone in it, and he would keep its stone
towards the palm." (Sahih Muslim, no: 2094)

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "The ring of the Messenger
of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) was on this", and he pointed
towards the little finger of his left hand. (Sahih Muslim, no: 2095)

As such, Imam Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) states:

"As for the [legal] ruling in this issue according to the jurists (fuqaha),
they have all agreed upon the permissibility of wearing the ring on the right
hand, and upon the permissibility of wearing it on the left hand, and there is
no dislike (karaha) in wearing the ring on either of the two hands. However,
they disagreed in regards to what is preferred. Many early scholars (salaf)
wore their rings on the right hand, whilst many others wore theirs on the left
hand. Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) considered wearing the ring on
the left hand to be recommended (mustahab) and disliked wearing it on the right
hand. In our [Shafi'i] School, both positions are mentioned by our scholars.
The correct (sahih) opinion is that it is better to wear the ring on the right
hand, for wearing a ring is a form of adornment, and the right hand is more
deserving of this adornment and beautification." (Al-Minhaj sharh Sahih Muslim
ibn al-Hajjaj, P: 1585)

Shaykh Taqi Usmani (may Allah preserve him) explains in his commentary of Sahih
Muslim that most of the narrations indicate that the Messenger of Allah (Allah
bless him & give him peace) wore his ring on his right hand whilst some others
indicate that he wore it on his left hand. Some scholars preferred the latter
narrations whilst others preferred the former. Some scholars reconciled between
the two types of narrations saying that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him
& give him peace) initially wore his ring on the right hand and thereafter
resorted to wearing it on his left hand. The great Master of Hadith (Hafidh),
Ibn Hajar (may Allah have mercy on him) reconciled by stating in his Fath
al-Bari that if the

Ramadhaan - Q & A [ PART 2 ]
WET DREAM
During Ramdhan, if one has a wet dream (self relief during sleep), is
the fast valid?
If one has a wet dream during fasting, the fast is still valid.

MENSES
1. If a female gets her period during her fast, can she break the fast
right away or she has to wait till the end?
If a female gets her periods during fasting, she may eat immediately
thereafter. However, she should not do so in public and in the
presence of other fasting people.

2. A female starts menstruating while fasting. What if she stops
menstruating during fasting? How should she conduct herself?
If her menses commenced while fasting, she can eat (not in public). If
her menses stopped while fasting, she should abstain from eating,
drinking, etc. but (in both instances) make up for the day by keeping
a Qadhaa fast after Ramadaan. (Aalamgiri vol.1 pg.214; Rashidiyya)

BATHING WHILST FASTING
I've been told not to take bath when I'm fasting, either before fasting
or after iftar I can take a bath. Please tell me whether this is true.
It is permissible to take a bath while fasting. The information given
to you is incorrect.

PREGNANCY & POST BIRTH
1. Is a pregnant woman or one who has just delivered, permitted to
fast in the month of Ramadhaan?
The fast of a pregnant woman is valid. However, due to weakness during
pregnancy, she is exempt from fasting. After delivery of the baby,
during Nifaas (bleeding after birth), she cannot fast.

2. A woman delivered a baby about a month ago through a ceassarean
operation. The doctor said that the operation wound may take upto 6
months to recover. She is also breast-feeding the baby. She has been
adviced to keep herself healthy with proper intake of food. Since
Ramadan is commencing after 1 month, is it permissible for her to miss
her fasts in the month of Ramadan and make up for it later. Please
advice.
Allah Ta ala says in the Qur aan, If a person is sick (whilst in
Ramadhaan) or on a journey, then complete fast on other days (besides
Ramadhaan). If by not eating there is harm feared to either the woman
or her child, it will be permissible for her to continue eating and
keep Qadhaa of Ramadhaan whenever she is able to.

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Why We Follow the Sunnah?

2007-09-05 Thread Shahid Khan

* Why We Follow the Sunnah? *

**

As Allah has revealed in this verse (Today I have perfected your religion
for you and completed My blessing upon you, and I am pleased with Islam as a
religion for you) *Al-Ma'idah 5:3*, Islam is the final divine religion.
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is (the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the
Prophets) *Al-Ahzab 33:40.* The faithful learn the kind of moral values they
need to display in order to attain the approval, compassion, and Paradise of
Allah; what they must avoid and what they must abide by; what is lawful and
what is forbidden; in short, all the details regarding the kind of life that
will be pleasing to Allah from the Qur'an. Another mercy and blessing of our
Lord for believers is the Sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh).

The Prophet is a blessed individual, whom Allah has sent as a role model for
all people with his moral values:

(You have an excellent model in the Messenger of Allah for all who put their
hope in Allah and the Last Day and remember Allah much) *Al-Ahzab 33:21. *

The Prophet is a role model for everyone embracing his faith, knowledge, and
superior moral values. With his patience, trust in Allah, courage, devotion,
closeness to Allah, justice, compassion, love, affection for believers, and
foresight, he possessed moral values that are greatly admired by the
faithful. All believers strongly desire and strive to possess these
qualities to attain the moral model required by the the Qur'an. For all
these reasons, all his words, decisions, recommendations, advice, and life
-the Sunnah - represent a most valuable guide for all those who wish to
understand and live by the Qur'an.

Many verses of the Qur'an emphasize the importance of obeying the Prophet
and adhering to his path in. One of these reads:

(Whoever obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah. If anyone turns away, We did
not send you [Muhammad] to them as their keeper.) *An-Nisaa' 4:80.*

What devout believers must do is to adhere to the path of the Prophet and to
take his Sunnah as their guide, knowing that he has called them to a path
that will give them a pleasant eternal life. Those who wish to attain the
mercy and Paradise of Allah must, metaphorically speaking, build their house
on solid foundations right from the outset.

Anyone who acts out of a fear of Allah and strives to gain His approval is a
loyal follower of the Prophet and seeks to resemble him in faith and moral
values. This, however, is only possible through adhering to the Qur'an and
never departing from the Sunnah.

Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Prohibitions that are for your Safety

*Prohibitions that are for your Safety *

IF we look at what Islam has prohibited, we will find that Islamic
prohibitions are in the interests of both the individual and society as a
whole.

All these prohibitions serve to safeguard the relationship between the slave
and his Lord, and the relationship of the individual with himself and with
his fellow human being. The following examples demonstrate this:

Islam forbids the eating of dead meat, regardless of whether it died by
drowning, strangulation, shock or falling from a high place; eating blood,
pork and anything slaughtered in a name other than that of Allah; eating the
flesh or drinking the milk of beasts that feed on filth and waste matter;
eating the flesh of every carnivorous beast that has fangs and every bird
that has talons; eating the meat of domesticated donkeys; killing animals by
keeping them and throwing stones at them until they die, or detaining them
without food until they die; slaughtering with teeth or nails; slaughtering
one animal (for food) in front of another; or sharpening the knife in front
of the animal to be slaughtered.

In the area of clothing and adornment, men are forbidden the extravagance of
wearing gold. Muslim are forbidden to be naked or to expose their thighs; to
leave their clothes too long (below the ankles) and trail them on the ground
for the purpose of showing off; and to wear clothes that will attract
attention.

Muslims are told not to eat the food that is directly in front of others or
to eat from the center of the dish or platter; rather they should eat from
what is directly in front of them or thereabouts, because the barakah
(blessing) comes in the middle of the food.

It is forbidden to drink from a broken edge of a vessel, because this could
cause harm; or to drink from the mouth of a vessel; or to breathe into it.
It is forbidden to eat while lying on one's stomach; to sit at a table where
wine is being drunk; to leave a fire burning in one's house when one sleeps.

Re: Boycott Israel [IslamCity] can you trust a Muslim?

2007-09-05 Thread Orhan Muhammed Al Shareef
Hi there Linda,

The Prophetic teaching is that 'He who deceives us is not of us'. In another
saying the Messenger Muhammed Peace & Blessings of God be upon him says that a
Muslim can not lie!

There are times when 'lying' is permissible - such as in warfare - or when
the lives of people are at stake etc (i.e. bank robbery, the robber starts
shooting -and asks you where are the bank tellers hiding - you do not go and
tell them - as they kill them etc).

Muslims are urged to be truthful people. This needs to be inculcated at a
young age in the children, as trying to teach manners to people who have not
had the oportunity is quite difficult.

Lying, deception cheating, stealing etc are all sins, and punishable in the
hereafter, or even in this world by the law.

Another instance where 'lying' is permissible is to make up between two
friends/ married couples etc.

But in generality, a Muslim is meant to be someone whom others are safe from
their hands (any form of harm that is - whether deception, abuse, being cheated
or hit etc).

The ideals are exceptional -and it is up to the devotees to do their best to
fulfill the comandments.

May God make it easy for us all to follow this beautiful way of life. Amin

the moment and am interested in views on this subject.
