“Actions Speak Louder Than
Words”

 The
Islamic World has shown no signs of giving up hope that “Actions Speak Louder Than Words” calling for a boycott of
all Danish and Norwegian products following the publication of 12 insulting
cartoons of Prophet Mohammed.
The interior ministers of Arab countries gathered in Tunisia Tuesday to ask
the Danish government to “seriously punish” the cartoonists responsible for
creating the insulting images of the Prophet Mohammed for the Danish newspaper,
Jyllands Posten.

Like the Saudi Arabian government, other Arab countries should also withdraw
their ambassadors from Copenhagen, said Nayef bin Abdelaziz, the Saudi Arabian
Interior Minister.

Both Saudi Arabia and Libya recalled their ambassadors from Denmark in
protest.

“The European news media are afraid to be accused of
being anti-Semitist; however, it is not a problem when the Islamic values are
made a subject of ridicule, because there the freedom of press comes to their
immediate assistance,” said Amr Mousa, the Arab League Secretary-General.

The Sudanese government declined to accept the demand from Danish Minister of
Defense Soren Gade to visit Sudanese officials.

Sudanese Foreign Ministry officials also called on all companies and
organizations to boycott the import of Danish goods. Iran made its reactions
very clear when it demanded the Danish ambassador to Tehran send a letter to
Danish officials demanding they rethink the issue: “The
Danish government and newspaper officials should apologize to the world’s entire
Muslim population.”

The Iraqi authority also sent a warning to the Danish ambassador to Bagdat
(Baghdad). A group led by the Shiite leader Moqtada al-Sadr went on a hunger
strike in central Baghdad in reaction to the insulting cartoons.

There were other demonstrations in Gaza City, Damascus, and Tel Aviv to
pressure the Danish government to apologize to all Muslims.

In Denmark again, Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen
said they will not apologize as the government.Former US President Bill Clinton had
labeled the cartoons as "insult to Islam" and warned that anti-Semitic
prejudices are being replaced by anti-Islamic prejudices.

[IslamCity] Support Your Prophet

2006-02-01 Thread Muhammad Zamin Ezaz

Support Your Prophet In The Name Of Allaah The Most Merciful, The Ever Merciful A declaration condemning the attack by reporters from Denmark and Norway against the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam All perfect praise is due to Allaah; I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad is His Slave and Messenger; may Allaah exalt his mention, as well as his family and all his companions. To proceed: One of the greatest things that makes a Muslim proud is his belief and love of the Messenger, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam (may Allaah exalt his mention). Muslims believe in all the Messengers and the Prophets, may Allaah
exalt their mention, and do not distinguish between any of them -- except that our Prophet Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is the last and final messenger and prophet, and he is the best of them. He, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is the first one for whom the gates of Paradise will be opened; belief in him, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is the way to Paradise, as no one among those who were born after his prophethood, will be permitted entry (i.e. to Paradise) unless they had believed in him, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. What can one say in response to the sarcastic caricatures published in the Jyllands Posten newspaper from Denmark, in its issue dated Tuesday, September 30 th 2005? Whom was this newspaper mocking? It was mocking the greatest man ever created … the leader of all the Prophets, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. They featured evil, shameless images of him,
sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, as shameless as any disbeliever’s imagination can be. Again, in the days of ‘Eed Al-Adh-Haa, to confirm their enmity, the Magazint newspaper from Norway repeated the same attack, as if they were trying to re-open the old wound, when they republished the images that were published in the first newspaper. Indeed, what Allaah said about the disbelievers is true: ÃóÊóæóÇÕóæúÇ Èöåö Èóáú åõãú Þóæúãñ ØóÇÛõæäó which means: “Did they suggest it to them (i.e. did the former disbelievers pass on these words to the Makkans so that they repeat the same expressions)? Rather, they [themselves] are a transgressing people.”[Ath-Thaariyaat: 53]. What can one say in response to this open declaration of enmity? Should we look to the other side, deafen our ears and keep our mouths shut, while our hearts are still
beating? I swear by The One Who honored Muhammad and exalted his rank! Our graves are dearer to us than being incapable of uttering the truth and defending our messenger, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. Indeed! My father, my grandfather and my honor are in sacrifice for Prophet Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. The rank of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam: There is no phrase that can encompass all the features of greatness of this great Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam; and there are not enough words to describe his greatness -- a greatness that overwhelmed all people in all ages, and was decreed to be eternal. It is this greatness that is instilled in all hearts, settled in all souls, felt by all the people and even the enemies of Islaam. The Prophet Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, possessed the perfect manners which no
one can possess; a lofty rank which no one can reach. He, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, was the wisest person; the one with the most sound mind and opinion; the most generous -- whose alacrity in spending was said to be faster than a fast wind. He, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, used to spend like a person who never feared poverty due to spending. He, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, used to spend so generously, yet went to sleep hungry. He never saved anything, and used to instruct his companions, may Allaah be pleased with them, to be generous, saying: “Spend (charitably) O Bilaal! And do not fear that Allaah will decrease your provision (due to your spending)”. He, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, was the most tolerant of all people and the kindest; if someone abused him, he would forgive him, and the harsher a person was, the more patient he, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, would become. He
was most lenient and forgiving, especially when he had the upper hand and the power to retaliate. He, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, was the most humble person -- he used to mix with the poor and the needy; he used to sit with the elderly and the widows; a young girl could take him by the hand to fulfill a need she had, and he, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, would go to fulfill it. He, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, never wore anything to distinguish himself from his companions or appear in higher rank than them. He was most lenient, and if he was given a choice between two matters, he chose the easiest, as long as it was not a form of disobedience to Allaah. On the other hand, he, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, was the most firm with regards to fulfilling the obligations and supporting the

Kuwait may ban Danish

http://www.tmcnet.com/usubmit/2006/01/31/1330211.htm

(Kuwait Times Via Thomson Dialog
NewsEdge)COPENHAGEN: Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen expressed alarm
yesterday at the wave of anger in the Muslim world prompted by caricatures in a
Danish newspaper depicting Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He said his government
considered the growing dispute "extremely serious." "Our diplomats are currently
attempting to repair the misunderstandings that have surfaced," he said. "We are
up against uncontrollable forces. It will take a huge effort to calm things
down," he told Danish media after the offices of Jyllands-Posten, which
published the controversial cartoons, were evacuated following a false bomb
threat.

Meanwhile, with the growing momentum of the
national public campaign against Denmark and Danish products in Kuwait, the
Ministry of Public Health too has got onboard. The chairman of the Kuwait
Pharmacists Society, Salah Al-Qattan announced that the ministry was considering
imposing an embargo on Danish medicines, including insulin. Al-Qattan stressed
that the decision needed further discussions in order to avoid affecting
patients if no alternatives were available. Meanwhile, informed sources in the
private sector highlighted that insulin could be obtained from sources other
than Denmark and that the only argument against the embargo was that warehouses
of some local agents were already stocked with Danish products. On his part, the
chairman of Kuwait Medical Association, Dr Abdul Aziz Al-Enezi, said the issue
should be studied prior to any decision being made. Various groups have been
circulating lists of Danish products that should be boycotted and
blacklisted.Muslim anger over the 12 cartoons, which depicted the
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and were published in the Danish paper in September, has
boiled over into a diplomatic crisis threatening Danish trade relations with the
Muslim world. Saudi Arabia has recalled its ambassador to Denmark, Libya has
shut down its embassy in Copenhagen, and on yesterday, Iraqi Foreign Minister
Hoshyar Zebari summoned Denmark's ambassador over the cartoons. Interior
ministers from 17 Arab countries called yesterday on the Danish government to
"punish the authors" of the cartoons. In Iraq, the influential Sunni
Muslim Cleric's Association backed the boycott, and widened it to Norway where a
newspaper has also printed the cartoons. "We join our voices to those who called
for an economic and diplomatic boycott of Denmark and Norway unless those two
countries submit an official apology and admit their mistake," a spokesman
said.Thousands of Palestinians also demonstrated outside the United
Nations compound in Gaza City to denounce the caricatures, burning a large
picture of the Danish prime minister, while dozens of others demonstrated
outside the Danish embassy in Tel Aviv. Demonstrators burnt Danish flags,
chanted "War on Denmark, Death to Denmark" and called for an Arab boycott of
products from the small north European country until it showed contrition for
the satirical caricatures deemed blasphemous by Islam. "We feel great rage at
the continued attacks on Islam and the Prophet of Islam and we demand that the
Danish government make a clear and public apology for the wrongful crime," Nafez
Azzam, a leader of Islamic Jihad, told the crowd of supporters of his militant
group outside UN headquarters. The protesters fired bullets in the air
and burnt Danish and US flags as well as portraits of Danish Prime Minister
Anders Fogh Rasmussen and US President George W Bush. Azzam called for a
pan-Arab boycott of all Danish products, many of which - dairy goods, shampoo
and sweets for example - are sold in the Palestinian territories. The
caricatures were published in Jyllands-Posten last September and reprinted in a
Norwegian magazine Magazinet in January. Magazinet said yesterday it "regretted"
offending Muslims but stopped short of issuing an apology. The small publication
said in its online edition that its editor-in-chief, Vebjoern Selbekk,
"regretted if the drawings offended Muslims". Selbekk said that Magazinet's
reprinting of the 12 cartoons on January 10 was "not aimed at provoking" Muslims
and that it was justifiable under freedom of _expression_ laws. "To regret the use
of freedom of _expression_ in a democratic society would damage our democratic
foundations," he said. Selbekk was unavailable for comment yesterday, but
Magazinet said he had received

[IslamCity] Hamas Urges National Unity, Defends Right to Resist

2006-02-01 Thread S A Hannan

Dear editor/members of the list,

Assalamu Alaikum. Please see below the prewss
conference speech of Hamas ( who will form the new government in Palestine
) leaderKhaled Meshaal. It is a
responsible speech from a mature leader. The U. S. and other powers should
co-operate with Hamas to end occupation.

Hamas Urges National Unity, Defends Right to
  Resist

"We are willing to form an army
like every independent country though we are still under
occupation," said Meshaal.
  (Reuters)
  CAIRO, January 28, 2006 (IslamOnline.net) – Hamas
leader Khaled Meshaal on Saturday, January 28, held out a hand to
vanquished Fatah movement of President Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) for a
national partnership serving the welfare of the Palestinian people,
asserting that resistance in no way contradicts the political
  game.
"Our top priority now is consulting with Fatah and Abu
Mazen who helped render the Palestinian legislative elections a success to
reach a national partnership," Meshaal told a press conference in the
Syrian capital Damascus, two days after his group swept the polls.

"We are not in an awkward situation or a weak position
to seek such a partnership, but we need each other to serve our people and
cause and not to achieve personal gains."
Meshaal asserted that the electoral victory came as no
surprise to his group, attributing it to "well organization and good
  planning."
Hamas swept the parliamentary elections, winning 76
seats in the 133-seat Palestinian Legislative Council, nearly 57.6 percent
of the seats up for grabs.
Under the law, President Abbas must ask the largest
party in the new parliament to form the next government.

  Much Ado

Meshaal urged Hamas supporters to
hold low-profile celebrations and respect feelings of defeated Fatah
activists. (Reuters)

Meshaal said there is too much ado about an internal
Palestinian crisis, though admitting tensions with Fatah.

"I don’t want to play down current tensions between
Fatah and Hamas," said the Hamas leader.
Clashes were reported Friday between Fatah and Hamas
  activists in the Gaza Strip.
Furious Fatah supporters stormed their way into the
  Gaza
parliament compound Friday, setting a number of cars ablaze and
calling for the Fatah leadership to step down following the humiliating
  defeat.
Meshaal urged jubilant followers and supporters of his
group "to hold low-profile celebrations to respect the feelings of their
brothers in Fatah and allow no room for complacency."

Meshaal asserted that Hamas will swing into action and
introduce promised reforms in the Palestinian political system, to put the
  Palestinian house in order.
"We will not go on a rampage of sacking Fatah
employees in the government despite complaints from Hamas youths of
compulsory dismissal by the outgoing government of Fatah," he
  asserted.
"We will rather turn a new leaf with our brothers in
Fatah as we are responsible now for all the Palestinians."

Many members of the Palestinian security forces,
largely comprised of Fatah faithful, are fearful of losing their jobs or
seeing their salaries cut after Fatah lost the election and grip on
  power.
  No Hurry
Meshaal said Hamas would be in no hurry to form the
  new Palestinian government.
"We refuse to be pressed for time," he said. "In world
democracies, it takes the victorious party weeks and even months to form a
  government."
A confident Meshaal said parties who are dream that
his group would fail in its new role are "wrong".
"We have succeeded in the resistance and we will
succeed in politics, reforms and change," he said emphatically.

The Hamas leader said the new government will be an
"amalgam of technocrats and qualified people whether from Hamas, Fatah or
  other parties."
"We have been chosen by our people and we assume our
  responsibility."
  “Palestinian Army”
Meshaal further maintained that there is no
contradiction between the armed struggle against occupation and
  politics.
"I tell the Americans and the Europeans, who consider
resistance terrorism and demand us to disarm, that we are ready to merge
armed factions including Hamas’s military wing to form an army to defend

"If you say it is true
that you (Germany) massacred and burned six million Jews during the Second World
War, if you committed this massacre, why should the Palestinians pay the price?"
(Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad)The logic in the
above statement is flawless; unable to refute the argument, the Western leaders
responded with emotional outbursts. If they were to pose the same question to
their masses at home, they would see that a significant section of their
population hold the same viewpoint as Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The context of his
remark reminded me of the courageous boy [1], who publicly stated that the
Emperor has no clothes, while everyone else remained silent in a state of
'denial' or due to 'fear'. Similarly, a climate of fear has been
generated by the stigma of being labelled as anti-Semitic; thus, many remain
silent while witnessing Zionist crimes. Even anti-war movements and those on the
political left have been affected. They have labelled the Iraq war, as a war for
oil, but the fear of being charged with anti-Semitism, has prevented the Iraq
war from also being called a war for Israel. The Zionist entity has undeniably
been one of the main beneficiaries of this invasion. Needless, to say that many
of the US policy makers, who were architects of the Iraq war, are all
pro-Zionist Jews (Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle etc.) For some, it is a
combination of fear and a desire to display their anti-Semitic credentials, so
they refrain from criticising Zionist crimes, and in return they gain other
forms of benefits. There are those who have willingly gone into a state of
denial, refusing to recognise the Zionist crimes and the legitimacy of
Palestinian resistance; they do not require any form of intellectual
justification in their mind for their dogma. In a state of denial they continue
to believe that Zionism is clothed with democracy and human rights, while in
reality it stands naked like the Emperor in the den of racism and brutal
oppression. Like Fascism and Nazism, Anti-Semitism is a European
phenomenon. For centuries Europe persecuted the Jews, resulting in the regular
massacres and pogroms. On the contrary, the Muslims have provided the greatest
level of security and hospitality to the Jews. Can anybody cite an event in
Islamic history that was fuelled by hatred for the Jews? Before anyone shouts
about the only incident from a 1500 year history, i.e. the punishment given to
the Jews of Banu Quraydah [2], this was given for their crime of treachery and
not for their Jewish identity. The Jews in fact prospered under tolerant
Islamic rule in ways that it never did in intolerant Christian Europe. Islamic
Spain is one pertinent example, where the Jews become very prosperous and lived
in security for centuries, until the Catholic reconquista that was followed by
the genocidal – Catholic Church sponsored inquisition, which resulted in the
genocide of Jews and Muslims alike. In the face of such persecution the Jews
fled and were invited by the Othmania Khaleef (Ottoman State) - Bayazid II to
settle in Othmania lands, notably Istanbul (where over 500 years later, the
ancestors of these Jews still reside, speaking their ancestral language of
Ladino) and Sarajevo (Bosnia). Even the renowned Orientalist Bernard Lewis, an
ardent critic of Islam, accepts that Muslims were remarkably tolerant of their
conquered subjects. Lewis's book Jews of Islam, details the enlightened Islamic
approach to Jews. If establishing a Jewish state was
some kind of atonement for the crimes of the West against the Jews, then surely
this gesture should have led to the establishment of a Jewish 'homeland' in
Europe. This point was made to Michael Gove (a British Member of Parliament, a
regular contributor to the UK - Times Newspaper and a Woody Allen look alike!)
as he argued for the rights of the Jews to have a homeland. But Gove clearly did
not like the idea of 'Israel in Europe', presumably even less so inside the UK!
Michael Gove is like all pro-Israeli Western journalists, who are enthusiastic
about the Jewish homeland being in someone else's territory, just like those who
are enthusiastic about giving charity, using someone else's money! Few
would admit that everything was done to ensure that a Jewish homeland was
established outside of Europe and the US, in line with the real sentiments of
the West towards the Jews! Thus, establishing Israel in Palestine was not
atonement for centuries of anti-Semitism but simply more evidence of it.
However, it is absolutely fair to reward the Jews with a homeland where they
were most recently resident legally, that is prior to illegally squatting in
Palestine

Documents show Army seized wives as tactic
CHARLES J. HANLEY
Associated Press
Fri, Jan. 27, 2006
http://www.kentucky.com/mld/kentucky/news/special_packages/iraq/13728584.htm

The U.S. Army in Iraq has at least twice seized and jailed the wives
of suspected insurgents in hopes of leveraging their husbands into
surrender, U.S. military documents show.

In one case, a secretive task force locked up the young mother of a
nursing baby, a U.S. intelligence officer reported. In the case of a
second detainee, one American colonel suggested to another that they
catch her husband by tacking a note to the family's door telling him
to come get his wife.

The issue of female detentions in Iraq has taken on a higher profile
since kidnappers seized American journalist Jill Carroll on Jan. 7 and
threatened to kill her unless all Iraqi women detainees are freed.

The U.S. military on Thursday freed five of what it said were 11 women
among the 14,000 detainees currently held in the 2 1/2-year-old
insurgency. All were accused of aiding terrorists or planting
explosives, but an Iraqi government commission found that evidence
was lacking.

Iraqi human rights activist Hind al-Salehi contends that U.S.
anti-insurgent units, coming up empty-handed in raids on suspects'
houses, have at times detained wives to pressure men into turning
themselves in.

Iraq's deputy justice minister, Busho Ibrahim Ali, dismissed such
claims, saying hostage-holding was a tactic used under the ousted
Saddam Hussein dictatorship, and we are not Saddam. A U.S. command
spokesman in Baghdad, Lt. Col. Barry Johnson, said only Iraqis who
pose an imperative threat are held in long-term U.S.-run detention
facilities.

But documents describing two 2004 episodes tell a different story as
far as short-term detentions by local U.S. units. The documents are
among hundreds the Pentagon has released periodically under U.S. court
order to meet an American Civil Liberties Union request for
information on detention practices.

In one memo, a civilian Pentagon intelligence officer described what
happened when he took part in a raid on an Iraqi suspect's house in
Tarmiya, northwest of Baghdad, on May 9, 2004. The raid involved Task
Force (TF) 6-26, a secretive military unit formed to handle
high-profile targets.

During the pre-operation brief it was recommended by TF personnel
that if the wife were present, she be detained and held in order to
leverage the primary target's surrender, wrote the 14-year veteran
officer.

He said he objected, but when they raided the house the team leader, a
senior sergeant, seized her anyway.

The 28-year-old woman had three young children at the house, one
being as young as six months and still nursing, the intelligence
officer wrote. She was held for two days and was released after he
complained, he said.

Like most names in the released documents, the officer's signature is
blacked out on this for-the-record memorandum about his complaint.

Of this case, command spokesman Johnson said he could not judge,
months later, the factors that led to the woman's detention.

The second episode, in June 2004, is found in sketchy detail in e-mail
exchanges among six U.S. Army colonels, discussing an undisclosed
number of female detainees held in northern Iraq by the Stryker
Brigade of the 2nd Infantry Division.

The first message, from a military police colonel, advised staff
officers of the U.S. northern command that the Iraqi police would not
take control of the jailed women without charges being brought against
them.

In a second e-mail, a command staff officer asked an officer of the
unit holding the women, What are you guys doing to try to get the
husband - have you tacked a note on the door and challenged him to
come get his wife?

Two days later, the brigade's deputy commander advised the higher
command, As each day goes by, I get more input that these gals have
some info and/or will result in getting the husband.

He went on, These ladies fought back extremely hard during the
original detention. They have shown indications of deceit and
misinformation.

The command staff colonel wrote in reply, referring to a commanding
general, CG wants the husband.

The released e-mails stop there, and the women's eventual status could
not be immediately determined.

Of this episode, Johnson said, It is clear the unit believed the
females detained had substantial knowledge of insurgent activity and
warranted being held.

[IslamCity] The Brave, the Valiant- ALLAHU AKBAR

2006-02-01 Thread Mohammed A

Al-Baraa Ibn Malik Al Ansari (ra - may Allah be pleased with him)
His hair looked dishevelled and his whole appearance was unkempt. He was thin and wiry with so little flesh on his bones that it was painful to look at him. Yet in single- handed combat he defeated and killed many opponents and in the thick of battle he was an outstanding fighter against the mushrikeen (pagans). He was so courageous and daring that Umar (ra) once wrote to his governors throughout the Islamic state that they should not appoint him to lead any army out of fear that he would have them all killed by his daring exploits. This man was al-Baraa ibn Malik al- Ansari (ra), the brother of Anas ibn Malik (ra), the personal aide of the Prophet (saw - may the peace blessings of Allah be upon him).
If the tales of Baraa's (ra)heroism were to be told in detail, pages and pages could be written. But let one example suffice.
This particular story begins only hours after the death of the noble Prophet (saw) when many Arabian tribes took to leaving the religion of God in large numbers, just as they had entered it in large numbers. Within a short space of time only the people of Makkah, Madinah and Taif and scattered communities here and there, whose commitment to Islam was unwavering, remained within the religion.
Abu Bakr as-Siddiq (ra), the successor to the Prophet (saw), stood firm against this blind and destructive movement. From the Muhajireen (migrants) and Ansar (helpers), he mobilized eleven armies each under a separate commander and despatched them to various parts of the Arabian peninsula. Their purpose was to make the apostates return to the path of guidance and truth and to confront the leaders of the rebellion.
The strongest group of apostates and the greatest in number were the Banu Hanifah among whom Musaylamah the Imposter arose, claiming that he was a prophet. Musaylamah managed to mobilize forty thousand of the best fighters among his people. Most of these however followed him for the sake oftribal loyalty and not because they believed in him. One of them in fact said, "I testify that Musaylamah is an imposter and that Muhammad is true but the imposter of Rabi'ah (Musaylamah) is dearer to us than the true man of Mudar (Muhammad). "
Musaylamah routed the first army sent against him under the leadership of Ikrimah ibn Abi Jahl. Abu Bakr (ra) despatched another army against Musaylamah led by Khalid ibn al-Walid (ra). This army included the cream of the Sahabah (ra - may Allah be pleased with them all) from both the Ansar and the Muhajireen (ra). In the front ranks of this army was Baraa ibn Malik (ra - may Allah be pleased with him) and a group of the most valiant Muslims.
The two armies met in the territory of the Banu Hanifah at Yamamah in Najd. Before long, the scale of battle tilted in favour of Musaylamah and his men. The Muslim armies began to retreat from their positions. Musaylamah's forces even stormed the tent of Khalid ibn Walid (ra) and drove him from his position. They would have killed his wife if one of them had not granted her protection.
At that point, the Muslims realised in what a perilous situation they were. They were also conscious of the fact that if they were annihilated by Musaylamah, Islam would not be able to stand as a religion and Allah, the One God with whom there is no partner, would not be worshipped in the Arabian peninsula after that.
Khalid (ra)mustered his forces once more and began re-orgamsing them. He separated the Muhajireen and the Ansar (ra)and kept men from different tribes apart. Each was put under the leadership of one of its own members so that the losses of each group in the battle might be known.
The battle raged. There was much destruction and death. The Muslims had not experienced anything like this in all the wars they had fought before. Musaylamah's men remained firm amidst the tumult, as firm as immovable mountains although many of them had fallen.
The Muslims displayed tremendous feats of heroism. Thabit ibn Qays (ra), the standard bearer of the Ansar (ra), dug a pit and planted himself in it and fought until he was killed. The pit he dug turned out to be his grave. Zayd ibn alKhattab, brother of Umar ibn al-Khattab, may God be pleased with them both, called out to the Muslims: "Men, bite with your jaw teeth, strike the enemy and press on. By God, I shall not speak to you after this until either Musaylamah is defeated or I meet God." He then charged against the enemy and continued fighting until he was killed. Salim, the mawla of Abu Hudhaifah, and standard bearer of the Muhajireen displayed unexpected valour. His people feared that he would show weakness or be too terrified to fight. To them he said, "If you manage to overtake me, what a miserable bearer of the Qur'an I shall be." He then valiantly plunged into the enemy ranks and eventually fell as a martyr.
The bravery of all these, however, wanes in front of the heroism of al-Baraa ibn Malik, may God be

*The Story of an African King and His Friend * A story is told about a King in Africa who had a close friend that he grew up with. The friend had a habit of looking at every situation that ever occurred in his life (positive or
negative) by remarking, "This is good, Allah Almighty knows best" One day the King and his friend were out on a hunting expedition. The friend would load and prepare the guns for the King. The friend had apparently done something wrong in preparing one of the guns, for after taking the gun from his friend, the King fired it and his thumb was blown off. Examining the situation the friend remarked as usual, "This is good! Allah Almighty
knows best." To which the King replied, "No, this is NOT good!" and ordered his soldiers to put his friend into jail. About a year later, the King was hunting in an area that he should have known to stay clear of. Cannibals captured the King and took him to their village. They tied his hands, stacked some wood, set up a stake and bound him to t! he stake. As they came near to set fire to the wood, they noticed that the King was missing a thumb. Being superstitious, they never ate anyone who was less than whole. So after untying the King, they chased him out of the village. When the King reached his Palace, he was reminded of the event that had taken his thumb and felt remorse for his treatment of his friend. He went immediately to the jail to speak with his friend. "You were right" the King said, "it was good that my thumb was blown off." And he proceeded to tell the friend all that had just happened. "I am very sorry for sending you to jail for so long. It was bad for me to do this." "No," his friend replied, "this is good...Allah Almighty knows best" "What do you mean, 'this is good'! How could it be good that I sent my friend to jail for a year?" The King's friend replied: "Remember that the Almighty knows best and if I had NOT been in jail, I would have been with you on that hunting trip.""He knows what is before them And what is behind them: And to Allah go back All questions (for decision)" Qur'an:Surah Al Hajj 22:76Do Not Judge Things or Events by its Immediate Outcome!
