The article does not focus on the handful of atrocities that have gotten substantial press coverage, like the massacre in Haditha in November 2005. Instead, based on interviews conducted on the record with dozens of American combat veterans of the war, the authors address what they describe as frequent acts of violence in which U.S. forces have abused or killed Iraqi civilians men, women and children with impunity. The combination of recklessness, wantonly destructive behavior born of panic and deliberate acts of cold-blooded violence by G.I.s are believed to have cost the lives of thousands of innocent Iraqis, the article says. The soldiers interviewed said they believed that only a minority of U.S. troops engaged in objectionable behavior, but the toll of their actions has been huge. --MORE-- http://mparent-2.blogspot.com/2007/07/abusing-iraqi-civilians-bob-herbert.html Posted by CRIMES AND CORRUPTION OF THE NEW WORLD ORDER NEWS mparent Marc Parent CCNWON Labels: BOB HERBERT, civilians, Iraq, military, New York Times, torture, war Health Care Terror: PAUL KRUGMAN - Universal Healthcare = Terrorism http://mparent-2.blogspot.com/2007/07/health-care-terror-paul-krugman_10.html CRIMES AND CORRUPTIONS OF THE NEW WORLD ORDER NEWSWIRE - JULY 9, 2007 http://mparent-2.blogspot.com/2007/07/crimes-and-corruptions-of-new-world_10.html AND MORE http://mparent-2.blogspot.com/ http://www.wakeupfromyourslumber.com/blog/38 - All new Yahoo! Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Burkini Swimsuit Covers All Angles for Muslim Women
Ever WONDER Why Do MOST Womens Attires REVEAL More Than They CONCEAL / COVER Compared to Mens Attires. Reason Women Have Much More Attractive Things to Show Off of Their Anatomy Than the Men. - AB Burkini Swimsuit Covers All Angles for Muslim Women MadeleineCoorey Wednesday, January 17, 2007 http://www.thestandard.com.hk/news_detail.asp?we_cat=9art_id=36189sid=11754851con_type=1d_str=20070117 What do you get when you cross Australian beach culture with a desire to remain clothed in a way acceptable to Muslim women? If you're designer Aheda Zanetti, you get what she says is the world's first two-piece Islamic swimsuit, the burkini. While other Islamic swimsuits exist, Zanetti says her light-weight, head-to- ankle costumes are the first to be streamlined down to a two-piece suit incorporating a head covering. With Australian beaches full of girls in skimpy bikinis and revealing one- pieces, there was a hole in the market that needed to be filled for more modest beachwear, she said. A lot of girls were missing out, a lot of women were missing out, on a lot of sporting activities, including swimming, Zanetti said. There was nothing really suitable for them to wear if they wanted to participate in sports. And if they did participate in sports with a veil, or whatever they wanted to wear, there really wasn't something suitable. The fabric was not right, the construction wasn't right. Zanetti is something of an accidental designer. Trained as a hairdresser, she has never worn a burqa, the restrictive all-encompassing gown worn by women in more conservative Muslim cultures from which her full-body swimsuits take their name. And she never wore a veil until she began designing sportswear. But the 39-year-old mother of four realized that there would be a market for Islamic sportswear when she saw her hijab- wearing niece play netball. And when I was looking at her playing sports with a two-piece veil and a skivvy [long-sleeved, high-necked shirt] and the pants and then her netball jersey on top and then her skirt, I thought, `Oh my god, there must be something better than this,' she said. Lebanon-born Zanetti at first created a crop top which incorporated a veil into a modest shirt. She later moved into other sportswear items, including the swimwear, all the while keeping to her motto: Modesty is No1. Her company Ahiida in Sydney's Punchbowl now receives hundreds of requests from around the country and overseas for the quick-drying, polyester burkinis which cost between A$160 (HK$979.34) and A$200. The product has not been without controversy in Australia, where riots erupted on Sydney's Cronulla Beach in December 2005 when young white mobs attacked Middle Eastern youths in an attempt to reclaim the beach. Like today I got an e-mail from a guy saying, `Muslim women are hot, why can't you just get them to wear the normal bikinis so we can appreciate them more?' Or things like that. She has also been attacked by fellow Muslims describing her outfits as a disgrace. I've had people put the burkinis in pornos and really disgraced it. But you know what? I don't take much notice of it, she said. The Cronulla riots prompted widespread debate about the extent of latent racism in the multi-ethnic nation. The burkini has become a part of the solution. Under a government program, more young Muslims are being trained to become volunteer surf lifesavers to patrol the country's beaches. As Surf Life Saving Australia celebrates its centenary this year, Zanetti is producing burkinis in red and yellow - the traditional colors of the iconic lifesavers. Twenty-year-old Mecca Laalaa would not have trained to become a surf lifesaver were it not for the burkini. My clothing and what I wear swimming stopped me from being involved in water activities, she said. The burkini means there's really nothing stopping me now. Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Bush/Cheney Holocaust Iraq Part 3: Desperation Bombing Iran?
The Bush/Cheney Holocaust in Iraq, Part Three: Desperation unto Bombing Iran? by Walter C. UhlerJul 10 2007 http://www.smirkingchimp.com/node/8615 (Note: Part One of The Bush/Cheney Holocaust in Iraq: Criminality, Immorality, Incompetence and Desperation examined the criminality and immorality underlying the Bush/Cheney regime's invasion of Iraq. Part Two examined the disasters that could have been avoided, except for the gross incompetence with which the invasion was conducted. Part Three, below, examines the desperation, which now compels various political actors to contemplate drastic action before the Bush/Cheney regime leaves office.) Part Three: Desperation unto Bombing Iran? Thanks to mid-term congressional elections in November 2006 -- during which Americans delivered a crushing rebuke to the Bush/Cheney regime's handling of its war in Iraq -- and thanks to the report of the Iraq Study Group, which was delivered a month later, the cowards in the White House finally admitted that a new approach was needed in Iraq. Cowards? Yes! As more than one observer has lamented about this pair of jokers: People don't Change. Neither Bush nor Cheney opposed the war in Vietnam, but neither proved brave enough or patriotic enough to volunteer to fight for their country there, when they had the chance. True to form, in April 2004, a full year into his debacle in Iraq, when our cowardly president was asked whether his administration had made any mistakes, the supposedly honest, forthright and swaggering Bush said he could not think of any. In fact, neither Bush nor Cheney possessed the courage to level with Americans about what they really had in mind for Iraq. And neither has demonstrated the courage to stand up, like a man, and take responsibility for the criminality, immorality and incompetence that has produced the holocaust in Iraq. Moreover, cowardice richly explains how Bush could dare to challenge the insurgents to Bring 'em on in Iraq -- but from the safety of the White House in Washington D.C. Cowardice also explains Bush's recent commutation of Scooter Libby's thirty-month prison sentence. Libby simply knows too much about the Bush/Cheney regime's criminality, immorality and incomptence. Thus, the commutation is a part of a cowardly coverup. Finally, cowardice also explains why Bush and Cheney ignored advice from their senior military leaders, which recommended against an escalation of the war in Iraq. Simply recall Colin Powell's June 10, 2007 statements to Tim Russert on Meet the Press. When Russert asked Powell why his predicted troop drawdown in early 2007 didn't occur, Powell responded: A different choice was made by the Prsident. Elaborating, Powell asserted: The President received advice from his military advisers last fall that said, do not send more troops. Moreover, Gen. Abizaid went before Congress, the commander of Central Command, and said he had consulted with all of division commanders in Iraq and all of the senior commanders, and non of them wanted to send additional troops. [Robert Parry, Powell Belies 'Commander Guy' Bush, consortiumnews.com, June, 10, 2007] Taking such advice would have implied that their war was lost, a matter Bush and Cheney are afraid to admit. So, instead, the cowards sucker-punched the American electorate, the Iraq Study Group and the U.S. military by ordering a desperate, last ditch escalation of the war, which they called a surge. Thus, more U.S. soldiers and innocent Iraqis are destined to die for their cowardice. Inveterate liar and hypocrite that he is, Bush would subsequently criticize Democrats for attempting to manage the war from Washington, while noting how he listens to his commanders. Desperately seizing upon another pipe-dream of the neocons, the Bush/Cheney regime touted the surge as a measure which would stamp down sectarian violence in Baghdad long enough to allow the food-fighting politicians in Iraq's national government sufficient time to reconcile their differences on such critical issues as the distribution of oil revenues, the holding of local elections and the reversal of the de-Baathification process. Astute analysts, such as Anthony Cordesman, immediately saw the flaws in this desperate move: Winning security control of the city (of Baghdad) and losing Iraq's 11 other major cities and countryside to Iraq's sectarian and ethnic factions is not victory (in any strategic sense), it is defeat. Moreover, U.S. policymakers have completely failed to set forth a strategy and meaningful operational plan for dealing with Iraq as a country even if it succeeds in Baghdad. [Martin Sieff, Iraq Surge Strategy Slammed, UPI, Feb. 22, 2007] As if to demonstrate the accuracy of Cordesman's observation, on July 7, 2007, a suicide truck bomber in the village of Amerli killed at least 105 people and injured some
Boycott Israel [IslamCity] 9-11 Was STAGED to Defame Muslims - John Kaminski
9/11 LIE N0. 1 The SOLIDEST Piece of Evidence About 9/11 LIES that Seems to be Emerging is Photographic Footage of the Disaster at the Pentagon, Which Shows, from a Multiplicity of Angles Sequences, NOT a Trace of the Wreckage of a Jetliner. A New Video, 911 In Plane Site, Convincingly Exploits This Contention With Numerous Shots of Flames Inside the Pentagon Behind a Relatively Unblemished Wall (Where the Plane Was SUPPOSED to Have Hit) With All its Windows Still Unbroken. - John Kaminski 9/11 Was Staged to Defame Muslims By John Kaminski Special to the Yemen Times http://www.thetruthseeker.co.uk/article.asp?ID=2207 In addition to the millions of Americans who are protesting their nation's unjust and immoral torture of the shell-shocked country of Iraq, there are also a substantial number of people in the U.S. who see through the lies of Zionist controlled U.S. mainstream media and believe the story told to them by their government about the tragedy of September 11, 2001 is merely another self-serving, nightmare fairytale meant to rally political support by the ignorant and uncaring for the continuing American/British/Israeli assault on the Islamic world. Indeed, this small but vociferous minority of 9/11 skeptics believes that was the primary purpose of that awful day - to vilify Muslims in the collective mind of the American public and enable the Western war machine to increase its level of aggression against the Persian Gulf states without any political opposition at home. Half the plan seems to have worked. Few Americans initially questioned the official version of 9/11 and rallied round the flag, but now, as clumsy excuses for the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq have been exposed throughout the world as blatant lies, even some of the most closed-minded Americans are beginning to question their government's dishonest behavior, even in regard to 9/11. The deaths of many American troops, the sex crimes by American soldiers at Abu Ghraib prison in Baghdad, and the scandals involving misappropriated funds by giant American corporations have emerged into mainstream discussion throughout America, causing not only shame but a reconsideration of the public lies used to start these wars in the first place. Yet, exposure of these embarrassing revelations seems to have had no tempering impact on the behavior of the U.S. military. It is a sad barometer of mainstream thought in America that President Bush's chief opponent in the upcoming election (November 2004) talks in even more warlike terms than his war-mongering opponent, so that the rest of the world can expect no change in America's charge toward violent imperialism no matter who wins the election. Still, a vocal minority in America continues its efforts to expose the deceptions that comprise perhaps the greatest threat to political stability the world has ever known, as the Zionist-controlled neocon cabal in Washington continues its efforts to usurp all the Persian Gulf oilfields by planning a series of wars throughout the Middle East aimed at accomplishing this objective. In both the cases of the 9/11 tragedy and the Iraq war, the great unspoken influence continues to be Israel. The principal figure in the 9/11 mystery continues to be Larry Silverstein, who leased the World Trade Center towers months before their demise and collected a $3.5 billion insurance payout shortly after their destruction. Silverstein was caught on video ordering the destruction of one of the undamaged WTC towers after the initial damage had been done, leading to speculation that the two main towers were wired for destruction prior to the event. Silverstein, an influential official of several powerful American Jewish groups, is known to be a telephone friend of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. Among the various groups in the American 9/11 skeptics movement, one dividing line appears to be the validity of the hijacker thesis. Since the FBI published a list of the names of the alleged 19 hijackers mere hours after the disaster, eight of those names have belonged to people reportedly alive and well and living in various countries. Yet the FBI has never made an attempt to change its list, nor has it attempted to question those with names used by hijackers who are still able to talk. In addition, there is no legitimate security camera videotape showing the hijackers ever got on the fateful planes, nor any record of their purchasing tickets. And their names were not included on the passenger lists recording the names of the dead. Adding to the Israeli angle of this discussion is the distressing fact of the Israeli art students who were shadowing the alleged hijackers during the months prior to 9/11 were all sent home without investigation when they were discovered. And, after much discussion about why America chose to invade Iraq at the moment it did, the oil
Boycott Israel [IslamCity] White Coup at Al-Jazeera Channel
White Coup at Al-Jazeera Channel Abdul Rahman Mansour, Ikhwaneb - Cairo, Egypt Thursday, June 28, 2007 Is there a change in Aljazeera's policies?!! This is what is currenly reported from behind the scenes of the most effective channel in the Middle East and may by in the world soon. Danny Schechter of Mediachannel.org said in his article Pro-US coup At Al-Jazeera: If true, this may mean the end of AlJazeeras journalistic independence and current orientation. Was The Bush Administration behind it? Then hat happened ? !! News carried a radical change in Al-Jazeera network, The Deputy Emir and Heir Apparent H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday issued the Emiri Decision No 28 of the year 2007 forming Al Jazeera Satellite Network board of directors, while Waddah Khanfar, the general manager of Al-Jazeera network and its Board member was absent. During the office tenure of Waddah Khanfar, the channel witnessed its most effective periods, from the Iraq war as Waddah went there and contributed to establishing the first office of the first Arab channel there, as Al-Jazeera office contributed to airinge the atmosphere of the US occupation of Iraq, disturbing successive Iraqi governments, till closing the office upon orders of the Iraqi government and the US administration!! Also, the war of Lebanon erupted to show Al-Jazeera's huge effect on the Arab minds as it contributed to showing the role of the Arab people in supporting the resistance of Israeli occupation of Arab lands. The British Daily Mirror newspaper reported that said it has reliable press reports confirming that US President George Bush informed British Prime Minister Tony Blair that the former plans to direct a strike against Aljazeera!! This proved the huge effect of this small-sized channel in a small country like Qatar!! Al-Jazeera's prominence was highlighted in its airing Muslim activities in Britain, and the United States, and supporting the reform agenda in the Arab world against the foreign reform that the US administration has been imposing on several Arab governments, till Hamas assumed power to turn the table against international and specifically US schemes. Till the latest sudden change took place !! The question is: Why has this white coup or change took place while during Khanfar was absent. and why was it staged by persons who are well known for their controversial professional history? !! It all started when the Emir of Qatar,Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, received a security envoy from the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, and received from the envoy two files about Waddah Khanfar, the first file was prepared by the Palestinian intelligence, and the second file was prepared by the Jordanian intelligence as he, Waddah Khanfar, lived in Jordan as a Palestinian refugee and graduated from a Jordanian university . Waddah Khanfar, an activist in the Hamas movement ( an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood group), and one of the most prominent leaders in Hamas Office in Sudan, where he led Al-Jazeera network towards a proficiency and prominence acknowledged all over the world. He has been moved now from his position and was replaced by Hamad Al Kuwari, Qatar 's previous ambassador to Washington, and ex-Minister of Information in Qatar . The board of directors includes persons who have a controversial professional history. Mahmoud Shamam, a Libyan dissident, appointed a member in the new board of directors, was the former chief of the Arab edition of the US magazine Newsweek which is distributed in the Middle East !! The new board of directors is headed by Hamad Bin Thamer Al Khalifa, the head of the channel's board of directors since it was established. Mahmoud Shamam is a US-leaning journalist. Ahmed Abdullah Al Khulaifi, a delegate member, has wide authorities in the general, executive and financial supervision of the channel, more than the powers given to Waddah Khanfar, the general manager of the network (Al-Jazeera Arabic- Al-Jazeera English - Al-Jazeera Documentary Al-Jazeera channel for children - Sports channels - Al-Jazeera.Net - Al-Jazeera research center- Al-Jazeera training center). Khanfar was removed from the new board of directors . The board includes also a woman for the first time, Mariam Rashed Youssef Al-Khater, an unknown journalist!! Hamad Abdul Aziz Al Kuwari was assigned with restructioning the strategy of the most prominent media channel in the Middle East . The board includes also Abdullah Mubarak Al Khulaifi, the ex- Qatari Minister of Information, and Abdul Aziz Al Mahmoud whom Waddah Khanfar previously ousted from heading the official website Aljazeera.net that covers both Al-Jazeera English and Arabic channels. Mohamed Ghifari, a journalist and observer of media affairs, told Ikhwanweb: What is striking about the new board of directors is that they do not
Boycott Israel [IslamCity] Tunisian political issues--Al-Ghanoshi: Closing Ranks With Opposition Is Priority
-- Al-Ghanoshi: Closing Ranks With Opposition Is Priority Ikhwanweb - London, UK Saturday, July 07, 2007 Tunisian Al Nahda (Renaissance) Islamic movement wrapped up its eighth conference by reelecting Rashid Al-Ghanoshi to lead the movement for a next term. Observers see the eighth conference of Al- Nahda (Renaissance) Movement as an important stop in the movement's history. Large number of its members in exile had gathered in the conference which was marked by a clear brotherly spirit and ended with transparent election to choose a new leader. Asked about the most important outcomes of the conference, Rashid Al-Ghanoshi, chairman of the movement, told Ikhwanweb: The eighth conference is held outside our homeland, Tunis , because of the unique conditions facing the Movement and Tunisians in general in the form of the tyrant regime's autocratic grip over the whole country . Al-Ghanoshi pointed out that the most important results of the conference- the highest body in Al Nahda movement- included laying down the movement's strategy for the coming four years and focusing on the joint action with the opposition mainly the October 18th Movement that includes six parties across the political spectrum. Al Nahda's relected leader added that the conference considered the movement's key task during the coming four years as comprising the democratic change and seeking a full national reconciliation in the country, includig the regime, opposition and all Tunisian political and societal powers. The method to be adopted for this reconciliation, Al-Ghanoshi confirmed, is the peaceful popular pressure and seizing every opportunity to hold a dialogue and negotiation with authorities. Al Nahda chairman called on leaders in exile to care for Tunisian emigrants, contributing to the Islamic Da'wa mission. This is because Al Nahda sees as an important priority the joint work among opposition powers to reach a reconciliation and a democratic change in the country, He said. Al-Ghanoshi shed light on some problems facing Tunis like the current economic problems, specially unemployment, saying: This problem can be solved by the regime. We are exercising pressure on the regime to curb the current wide-spread corruption and unemployment, specially unemployment amon university graduates. We give support to pro-unemployed movements and we always support of union movement defending worker's rights. We also highlighted the relation with anti- globalization powers. Regarding the conference's demands, Al-Ghanoshi said: The Tunisian regime hasn't shown any indication of paying attention to any of the demands of the secular or Islamic opposition. Thus, the only solution is that all opposition powers close ranks to pressure on the regime to curb this corrupt totalitarian policy. At the end of the conference, a Shura (consultation) council and chairman for the movement were elected.
