Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe said that Bush, with Iraqi blood on his hands, has much to atone for and little to lecture us on. Mugabe accused Bush of rank hypocrisy for lecturing on human rights. His hands drip with innocent blood of many nationalities. He kills in Iraq; he kills in Afghanistan. THE last week of September witnessed frenetic diplomatic activity involving Iran and its friends and enemies. Most of the action was centred in New York where Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was attending the annual summit at the United Nations. The Bush administration and its ever complicit ally, the American media, have been demonising and denigrating Ahmadinejad at every available opportunity ever since he assumed office. But the decibel level of invectives reached a crescendo when Ahmadinejad set foot on American soil. The devil has landed was how one American newspaper headline greeted the visitor. Around the same time, U.S. intelligence and security officials have been telling the media that President George W. Bush has shortlisted 2,000 Iranian targets to be bombed when hostilities break out. The media have been told that diplomatic efforts to make Iran give up its nuclear programme have failed and that military action is the only option now. The Pentagon has told the media that a carefully calibrated programme of escalation, which will inevitably lead to a military showdown, is under way. Investigative journalist Seymour Hersh, who rarely gets his facts wrong, has confirmed in an article in The New Yorker that plans to attack Iran are at an advanced stage. According to Trita Parsi of the National Iranian American Council, recent events have shown that there is a deliberate and concerted effort to bring the military option back to centre stage. Joining in the anti-Iran chorus is the new French President Nicholas Sarkozy and his Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner. Sarkozy shocked the international community by suggesting that military action could be an option if Iran went ahead with its nuclear programme. He said that more sanctions, coupled with an offer of negotiations, was the only approach that can keep us from facing a disastrous alternative; an Iranian bomb or the bombing of Iran. Kouchner, who had supported the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003, was even more specific. In a highly publicised television interview in mid-September, he actually used the word war against Iran. We have prepared for the worst, the worst is war. Other West European allies do not share the views of the Sarkozy government and have been urging Washington to exercise caution. Kouchner said later that he was misquoted. The Iranian news agency, IRNA, quoted him as saying that the media had unrealistically portrayed his comments. He told Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki in New York that France supported the recent agreement Iran signed with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The U.S. and France had tried to push for a third U.N. Security Council resolution that would have expanded the sanctions on Iran. Sarkozy is now pushing for separate European Union (E.U.) sanctions on Iran. This move is opposed by the majority of E.U. members, including Germany and Italy. German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, according to the German magazine Der Spiegel, is on the verge of releasing data that would reveal the extent of the lucrative business American and French companies are currently doing with Iran despite Security Council sanctions. With China and Russia unwilling to back a new resolution on Iran, a new deadline of late November has been set for Teheran to scale back its nuclear programme. The Bush administration had earlier insisted that a resolution be passed in September itself. Senior officials had publicly stated that the U.N.s credibility was at stake. Better sense having prevailed, the Security Council will now take a decision on additional sanctions on Iran only after it receives two reports. One of the reports will be submitted by the E.U.s foreign policy chief, Javier Solana. His report will focus on the Security Councils demand that Iran cease its uranium enrichment programme. Iran continues to insist that the programme is conceived purely to produce energy for domestic consumption. Ahmadinejad reiterated this point in his speech to the U.N. General Assembly. In an interview with the IslamOnline radio on Thursday, Qaradawi stressed that all Muslims have the duty of launching jihad (holy war) against any enemy attacking a Muslim country. It is obligatory on all Muslims to resist any possible attack the US might launch against Iran. Iran is a Muslim country which all Muslims should defend while the US is an enemy of Islam that has already declared war on Islam under the disguise of war on terrorism and provides Israel with unlimited support, he was quoted as saying. About Irans nuclear programme, he said that Tehran has the right to have nuclear power. Why should Iran or any other Muslim or African country be banned from having nuclear power while Israel and the US itself already have nuclear bombs? To a question on the fears of Irans Arab neighbours about its nuclear programme, he urged Tehran and regional states to reach accords among themselves to dispel any suspicions. There is no need for any foreign party to intrude and claim it provides them with protection, he said. We are against any war on Iran as we had been against the war on Iraq. We are against any war based on retaliatory or aggressive reasons, he said. Asked about a fatwa issued by the grand mufti of Saudi Arabia which warned Muslim men against being involved in conflicts outside their countries like the ongoing war in Iraq without getting permission from the rulers of their countries, the scholar said that this fatwa does not apply to the situation in countries like Iraq, Palestine and possibly Iran if it is attacked by the US. When a Muslim country is invaded by some other country, all Muslims who are capable of doing jihad should spare no efforts in defending the invaded country. It is not true that Muslims should not go outside their countries to defend their fellow Muslims unless they get permission from the ruler of their country, he said. Why did governments of Muslim countries allow their young people to go to Afghanistan to defend it against the former Soviet Union? Was it just because they got a green light from the US to do so? he asked. The scholar also renewed his call for Muslims to boycott the products of countries which are hostile to Islam. Boycotting the goods of the enemies of Islam should be one of the weapons of jihad against our enemies. The boycott should continue till such countries stop their schemes against Islam, he said. Allah (swt) revealed Do not be dejected nor grieve; you shall be the successful if you are Believers. (Ar Raad13:139). In these ayats not only Allah (swt) promises Muslims victory but also punishment for disbelievers who have tortured Muslims. Since a Muslim does not bow to anyone but to Allah (swt); for any need he asks HIM for them. A Muslim does not follow the desires of men; he depends on the firm balance of Huqq. The inspiration of his soul comes from strong belief he has in Allah (swt). This by itself creates in him a sense of dignity, purity, cleanliness, modesty, piety, desire for good deeds, and ambassador of Islam on earth. This belief gives him the assurance that the reward is in the Hereafter, the reward before which the troubles of the world and all its sorrows become insignificant. The heart of the Believer is content with it. Then there is no way Allah (swt) will leave Muslims dejected with grief in their hearts and give Kufr victory over Iman. An evidence of this is that he covers the sinners through He is All-Mighty and All-knowing. A further evidence is that he also forgives the same sins in the Hereafter. Among the most serious and most common of these things are ten which were mentioned by Shaykh Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhaab and other scholars (may Allaah have mercy on them all). We will mention them in brief here, so that you and others can beware of them, in the hope that you will be safe and sound. We will also explain a little about them after mentioning each one.1 Shirk or associating others in worship with Allaah. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): Verily, Allaah forgives not (the sin of) setting up partners (in worship) with Him, but He forgives whom He wills, sins other than that, and whoever sets up partners in worship with Allaah, has indeed strayed far away [al-Nisa 4:116] Verily, whosoever sets up partners (in worship) with Allaah, then Allaah has forbidden Paradise to him, and the Fire will be his abode [al-Maaidah 5:72] That includes praying to the dead, seeking their help, making vows and offering sacrifices to them or to the jinn or to the grave. 2 Whoever sets up intermediaries between himself and Allaah, asks them to intercede, and puts his trust in them, is a kaafir according to scholarly consensus. 3 Whoever does not regard the mushrikeen as kaafirs, or doubts that they are kaafirs, or regards their way as correct, is a kaafir. 4 Whoever believes that anything other than the teaching of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is more complete than his teachings, or that the rulings of anyone else are better than his rulings such as those who prefer the rule of false laws to his rulings is a kaafir. 5 Whoever hates any part of that which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) brought, even if he acts in accordance with it, is a kaafir, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): That is because they hate that which Allaah has sent down (this Quraan and Islamic laws); so He has made their deeds fruitless [Muhammad 47:9] 6 Whoever makes fun of anything in the religion of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), or makes fun of any texts that refer to rewards or punishments, is a kaafir. The evidence for that is the verse (interpretation of the meaning): Say: Was it at Allaah, and His Ayaat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) and His Messenger that you were mocking? Make no excuse; you disbelieved after you had believed [al-Tawbah 9:65-66] 7 Sihr (witchcraft) including spells to turn one person against another or to make someone love another. Whoever does this or approves of it is a kaafir. The evidence for that is the verse (interpretation of the meaning): but neither of these two (angels) taught anyone (such things) till they had said, We are for trial, so disbelieve not (by learning this magic from us) [al-Baqarah 2:102] 8 Supporting the mushrikeen and helping them against the Muslims. The evidence for that is the verse in which Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): O you who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians as Awliyaa (friends, protectors, helpers), they are but Awliyaa of each other. And if any amongst you takes them (as Awliyaa), then surely, he is one of them. Verily, Allaah guides not those people who are the Zaalimoon (polytheists and wrongdoers and unjust) [al-Maa'idah 5:51] 9 Whoever believes that some people are allowed to operate outside the law of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) just as al-Khidr operated outside the law of Moosa (peace be upon him) is a kaafir, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will never be accepted of him, and in the Hereafter he will be one of the losers [Aal Imraan 3:85] 10 Turning away from the religion of Allaah, not learning it and not acting in accordance with it. The evidence for that is the verse (interpretation of the meaning): And who does more wrong than he who is reminded of the Ayaat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of his Lord, then turns aside therefrom? Verily, We shall exact retribution from the Mujrimoon (criminals, disbelievers, polytheists, sinners) [al-Sajdah 32:22] With regard to all of these acts that nullify Islam, it makes no difference whether a person is joking, serious or afraid, unless he is forced to do it. All of them are very serious, and they all happen a great deal. The Muslim should beware of them and fear falling into them. We seek refuge with Allaah from the things that may incur His wrath and painful punishment. May Allaah send blessings and peace upon the best of His creation, Muhammad, and upon his family and companions. The fourth category includes those who believe that the systems and laws devised by men are better than the shareeah of Islam, or equal to it; or that it is permissible to refer to them for

Justification for following the Sunnah (Hadith) Question: Why do we have to follow the sunnah of the prophet Muhammad and not just follow the quraan ? Why do we have to follow a specific Mathab? Answer: Praise be to Allaah. The first question may appear strange and somewhat surprising to committed, practicing Muslims. How can something which is so obviously one of the bases of Islaam become a matter for discussion and debate? But since the question has been asked, we will present, with the help of Allaah, the principles and bases of the importance of the Sunnah, the obligation to follow it and the ruling concerning those who reject it. By so doing, we will also refute the doubters and the misguided group who call themselves Quraaniyyeen (the Quraan has nothing to do with them!) In sha Allaah this discussion will be of benefit to everyone who wants to understand the truth of the matter. Proof of the importance of the Sunnah (1) The Quraan speaks of the importance of the Sunnah, for example: (a) Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): He who obeys the Messenger has indeed obeyed Allaah . . . [al-Nisaa 4:80] Allaah described obedience to the Prophet (peace be upon him) as being a part of obedience to Him. Then He made a connection between obedience to Him and obedience to the Prophet (peace be upon him): O you who believe! Obey Allaah and obey the Messenger . . . [al-Nisaa 4:59] (b) Allaah warns us not to go against the Prophet (peace be upon him), and states that whoever disobeys him will be doomed to eternal Hell. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): . . . And let those who oppose the Messengers commandment beware, lest some fitnah (trial, affliction, etc.) befall them or a painful torment be inflicted on them. [al-Nur 24:63] (c) Allaah has made obedience to His Prophet a religious duty; resisting or opposing it is a sign of hypocrisy: But no, by your Lord, they can have no Faith, until they make you [Muhammad] judge in all disputes between them, and find in themselves no resistance against your decisions, and accept (them) with full submission. [al-Nisaa 4:65] (d) Allaah commands His slaves to respond to Him and His Messenger: O you who believe! Answer Allaah (by obeying Him) and (His) Messenger when he calls you to that which will give you life . . . [al-Anfaal 8:24] (e) Allaah also commands His slaves to refer all disputes to him: . . . (And) if you differ in anything amongst yourselves, refer it to Allaah and His Messenger . . . [al-Nisaa 4:59] (2) The Sunnah itself indicates the importance of the Sunnah. For example: (a) Al-Tirmidhi reported from Abu Raafi and others that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: I do not want to see any one of you reclining on his couch and, when he hears of my instructions or prohibitions, saying I dont accept it; we didnt find any such thing in the Book of Allaah. Abu Eesaa said: This is a saheeh hasan hadeeth. (See Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Shaakir edition, no. 2663). Al-Irbaad ibn Saariyah, may Allaah be pleased with him, reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Would any of you think, reclining on his couch, that Allaah would only describe what is forbidden in the Quraan? I tell you, by Allaah, that I have warned and commanded and prohibited things that are as important as what is in the Quraan, if not more so. (Reported by Abu Dawud, Kitaab al-Khiraj wal-imaarah wal-fay). (b) Abu Dawud also reported from al-Irbaad ibn Saariyah, may Allaah be pleased with him, that the Messenger of Allaah (peace be upon him) led us in prayer one day, then he turned to us and exhorted us strongly . . . (he said), Pay attention to my sunnah (way) and the way of the Rightly-guided Khaleefahs after me, adhere to it and hold fast to it. (Saheeh Abi Dawud, Kitaab al-Sunnah). (3) The scholars consensus (ijmaa) affirming the importance of the Sunnah. Al-Shaafii, may Allaah have mercy on him, said: I do not know of anyone among the Sahaabah and Taabieen who narrated a report from the Messenger of Allaah (peace be upon him) without accepting it, adhering to it and affirming that this was sunnah. Those who came after the Taabieen, and those whom we met did likewise: they all accepted the reports and took them to be sunnah, praising those who followed them and criticizing those who went against them. Whoever deviated from this path would be regarded by us as having deviated from the way of the Companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the scholars who followed them, and would be considered as one of the ignorant. (4) Common sense indicates the importance of the Sunnah. The fact that the Prophet (peace be upon him) is the Messenger of Allaah indicates that we must believe everything he said and obey every command he gave. It goes without saying that he has told us things and given instructions in addition to what is in the

First Modi asked Karan to give Water and then walked out of the interview less than five minutes after it started in Gandhinagar on Friday. Does the Chief Minister of Gujarat have an image problem and can he win another election and become the Chief Minister again? The Supreme Court seems to have a problem with you. * *Narendra Modi:* Karan, I have a small request to make. Please go through the Supreme Court judgement. If there is anything in writing, I'll be happy to know everything. *Karan Thapar:** There was nothing in writing you are right. It was an observation. * *Narendra Modi:* if it is in judgement then I'll be happy to give you the answer. *Karan Thapar:** But do you mean a criticism by the Chief Justice in court doesn't matter? * *Narendra Modi:* It's a simple request. Please go through the court judgement. Hand out the sentence you are quoting and let the people know it. *Karan Thapar:** Okay. It wasn't just an open comment made by the Chief Justice. In August 2004, the Supreme Court reopened 2100 cases out of a total of 4600 -- almost 40 per cent -- and they did so because they believed that justice hadn't happened in Gujarat. * *Narendra Modi:* I'll be happy. Ultimately the court of law will take the judgement. *Karan Thapar:** But isn't this the reason that despite the fact India today called you the best Chief Minister, Rajeev Gandhi foundation said Gujarat is the best administered state, people say Modi is prejudiced against the Muslims. This is why I ask you do you have an image problem? * *Narendra Modi:* Actually I have not spent a single minute on my image and that can also be a reason. I am busy with my work. I am committed to Gujarat. I am dedicated to Gujarat. I never talk about my image. I never spent a single minute for my image and therefore confusions may be there. *Karan Thapar:** I'll tell you what the problem is. Even five years after the Gujarat killings of 2002 the ghost of Gujarat still haunts you. why have you not done more to allay that ghost? * *Narendra Modi:* This I gave it to the media persons like Karan Thapar. O Ya Rabbal Ala'meen! We, the Ummah of Your Beloved Rahamathul Liel Aala'meen Sallallahoo Alayhi Wasallam - thank You for Your great Gift of Ma'rifah and Tawhid, and of servanthood and Muhabbat during the Mubarak Month that has just concluded. We thank You for blessing us with Islamic Brotherhood, and for bestowing honour and dignity on humanity, for teaching us patience and trust, and for urging benevolence and generosity during this auspicious month of Tilawat, obedience, Ibadah, Sabir and Goodness. We invoke Your Blessings on Nabee Muhammad al-Mustafa Sallallahoo Alayhi Wasallam, Your servant and Messenger, who hoisted the banner of Tawhid and justice, raised the call of human dignity, and liberated mankind from the servitude of anyone or anything besides You. May Peace be on his immaculate household, his companions and all worthy and obedient servants of Almighty Allah and all sincere believers in this life and in the Aghirah.Ameen! O Ummathul Muslimeen! With the successful completion of Ramadan, we pray Insha'Allah that Almighty Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala has accepted our fasting, our devotions, our good deeds, our Ibadah, our Taubah and our Zakat. Our gathering to bid our sad farewell to the month of Love is not one of allies brought together by certain common interests, so that when other interests emerge at some other time our bonds should be severed. That is most certainly not so! We are brothers and sisters, who have been eternally related by our faith in the Most Holy and Glorious Qur'an and who have become a single body, the Ummah of Nabee Muhammad Ibn Abdullah Sallallahoo Alayhi Wasallam. Let us reflect and ponder upon who we are, and the great blessings that have been bestowed upon us. What lessons have we learnt from this Most Holy and Auspicious Mubarak Month? Yes my most beloved brothers and sisters! It is an open secret that we have accepted this bond as something inevitable through our submission to the Din of Al Islam. Differences, disputes, and even tensions, may cast a pall on this fact, but Alhumdoelillah, they can always be washed away by recourse to wisdom, reason and forbearance. Let us therefore view the conclusion of this most glorious month of Love and Sabir in such a spirit so as to be able to draw the benefits from it for our own selves and that of the great Islamic Ummah. Islam is the religion of humanity, moderation, wisdom, and submission to Almighty Allah Jallah Wa'ala, and without doubt all religions have been such before being subject to distortion. Islam presented to humanity the remedies of human afflictions and sufferings, remedies which were free from any form of extravagance, excess or neglect, and which were appealing and acceptable to reason. Despite what the avowed enemies of Islam have to say, Islam did it in the past and will continue to do so till the Last Day. Alhumdoelillah! Ramadan has taught us that Islam is, and will continues to be the Only True Path leading to a new world and holding out the promise of a life of Muhabbat, understanding, felicity, morality and salvation to mankind. Islam invited humanity toward the remembrance of Almighty Rabbul Ala'meen. It taught man and exhorted him to combat evil, aggression and corruption and to a constant struggle against egotism, selfishness, the accumulation of material wealth, and the pursuit of carnal desires. The principal precepts of Al Islam have been established on this basis, and Islam's programme for man's individual, social, moral and political life has grown out of these roots. In the political system of Islam, social justice, different types of freedom, equitable peace, combat with oppression and aggression, the relationship between the sexes, the relations among individuals in society, the mutual relations between communities, as well as self-edification and the inner relation of every person with Almighty Allah Azza Wajjal - all are based on those foundations and geared to the treatment of those old and chronic ailments. Yes! Western liberalism, communism, socialism, and all other isms have gone through their tests and proved their incapacity. As in the past, the Din of Al Islam today is the only remedy and angel of deliverance. This wonderful call echoes today as it did fourteen centuries ago as we learn from verses 15 and 16 of Surah Al Ma'idah: Indeed, there has come to you a Light and a clear Book from Allah; with it Allah guides whoever will follow His Pleasure on the Paths of Peace and brings them out of manifold darkness into Light by His Will and guides them to the Path of

Mistrial Declared in Muslim Charity Case Judge Declares Mistrial for Most Defendants in Muslim Charity Trial By DAVID KOENIG The Associated Press DALLAS A judge declared a mistrial Monday for most former leaders of a Muslim charity accused of funding terrorism, after chaos broke out in the court when three jurors disputed the verdict that had been announced. One of the defendants, former Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development Chairman Mohammed El-Mezain, was acquitted of most charges. The outcome came about an hour after a confusing scene in the courtroom, in which three former leaders of the group were initially found not guilty. But then when jurors were polled, three of them said those verdicts were read incorrectly. Judge Joe A. Fish sent the jury back to resolve the differences, but after about an hour, Fish said he received a note from the jury saying 11 of 12 felt further deliberations will not lead them to reach a unanimous decision. The jury forewoman said she was surprised by the three jurors' actions. When we voted, there was no issue in the vote, she said. No one spoke up any different. I really don't understand where it is coming from. In all, five former Holy Land leaders and the group were accused of providing aid to the Middle Eastern militant group Hamas.
