Salam Alaykim Wa Rahmatu Allah wa Barakatuh
There is something I have to say that this Hadith is not Qudsi
but it is Hadith NABAWI that the holy Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) told on his tongue
whereas the Qudsi Hadith is the word of Allah that was revealed to Mohammad
(pbuh) ,usually starts with (( Allah said )).

e.g. On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said
that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:

When Allah decreed the Creation He pledged Himself by writing in His book which
is laid down with Him: My mercy prevails over my wrath.
It was related by Muslim (also by al-Bukhari, an-Nasa'i and Ibn Majah).

Bismillah [IslamCity] Good nutrition on a shoestring - from Health24

2007-12-07 Thread Mohamed (Imtiaz) Bhikoo

==
  A healthy balance

Good nutrition on a shoestring
Over the past few months, consumers have had to dig deeper into their pockets
as food prices sky-rocketed.

And, experts warn, there's no relief in sight. Worldwide changes in eating
patterns and ever-growing transport costs are just going to make things even
tougher in years to come.

Where you would have paid R4,96 for 1 litre of fresh milk in December 2006, you
can now expect to pay R7,39 per litre.

If not you, then someone you know might already be struggling to make ends
meet. Unfortunately, good nutrition is non-negotiable. One has to try to eat a
varied, balanced diet even if your budget is tight.

So, on a mission to try to find out how to give one's money that extra bit of
stretch, we asked the Nutrition Information Centre from the University of
Stellenbosch (NICUS) for help. They responded with a basic 7-day menu (see
below). They also provided the following great money-saving tips:

1. A protein-rich food such as dried beans, meat, fish, eggs or cheese, or a
combination of these, should form part of the main meal every day. Legumes are
a good substitute for animal products, which can be expensive. For example,
foods made from soya have a high nutritional value and are much cheaper than
foods made from animal protein.

2. Make meat go further by stretching it with other foods, for example by
adding more dried beans, lentils, potatoes or other vegetables to stews.
Lentils and chicken combine well in a curried dish.

3. Mix mashed, cooked dried beans with mince or fish to make meat loaf, fish
cakes or meatballs.

4. Choose meat that has less bones and fat. This means that soup bones are a
bad buy. Buy a packet of dried beans instead it's better value for money.

5. Buy tinned fish, e.g. pilchards or tuna it's generally cheaper than buying
fresh fish.

6. Buying a bigger chicken usually yields more meat and less bone
proportionally than a smaller chicken.

7. Buy less tinned meat, polony and other cold meats and sausage. Processed
meat is usually expensive and often contains fillings like fat, gravy,
vegetables and/or cereals in large quantities.

8. Skim milk powder can be an economical form of milk. Look for the Real Dairy
mark as this guarantees high nutritional value. Steer clear of coffee creamers:
they aren't made from milk and don't contain the nutrients that build bones and
teeth.

9. Use yoghurt, condensed milk and evaporated milk sparingly, as these items
can be quite expensive. Buying a large tub of yoghurt (500ml or 1 litre) often
works out cheaper than buying small containers (175ml).

10. Don't cut down on fruit and vegetable intake. These are protective foods
that guard against disease. Rather save money by buying more vegetables (fruit
is generally more expensive). Fresh fruit and vegetables are also cheaper than
canned or frozen ones.

11. Buy fruit and vegetables in season and cook them in different ways for
variety. Limit the purchasing of expensive vegetables such as mushrooms, green
peppers and bean sprouts. Find cheaper ways to flavour dishes.

12. Buy unrefined foods whenever possible. Refining makes a product more
expensive and the process strips it of fibre, vitamins and minerals. For
example, standard brown bread is often cheaper than white bread, and generally
much cheaper than special breads and rolls.

13. Save by buying maize meal the cheapest kind of porridge. Maltabella or oats
porridge generally cost three times as much, and instant cereals are even more
expensive.

This basic menu can be used as a guideline to balanced, economical meals for

Staying Peaceful
Desires cause peace to disappear. You think that acquiring things will make you
feel secure, but the reality is that the more you have the more fear there
usually is of losing it, and the further you are from peace. Desires are the
cause of all conflicts. When you want something and cannot get it you become
frustrated. Learning to be free from desires is learning how to stay peaceful.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Airport - Smile . Or Else

2007-12-07 Thread Shahid
'Behavior Detection Officers' are now watching passengers' facial expressions
for signs of danger. It's a new level of absurdity for America.
WEB-EXCLUSIVE COMMENTARY
By Patti Davis
Special to Newsweek

It was bound to happen. Now even a frown or grimace can get you into trouble
with The Man.

Specially trained security personnel will be watching passengers for
micro-expressions that will reveal treacherous agendas and insidious
intentions at airports around the country. These agents, who may literally hold
your fate in their hands have been given a lofty, Orwellian name: Behavior
Detection Officers.

Did anyone ever doubt that George Orwell's prophecies in 1984 would arrive?
In that novel, he wrote, You had to live-did live, from habit that became
instinct-in the assumption that every sound you made was overheard and, except
in darkness, every movement scrutinized.

In the study of micro-expressions-yes, it is actually a field of study and
there are some who are arrogant enough to call it a science-it has been decided
that when people wish to conceal emotions, the truth of their feelings is
revealed in facial flashes. These experts have determined that fear and disgust
are the key things to look for because they can hint of deception.

Let's see, fear and disgust in an airport? I'm frightened and disgusted weeks
before I have to show up at an airport. In fact, I've pretty much sworn off the
whole idea of going anywhere by airplane. It's bad enough that I might be
trapped in a crowded plane with no food or water and nonworking toilets for
hours; now there are security agents interpreting our facial expressions. The
face police, in place at more than a dozen U.S. airports already, aren't
identified as such. But the watcher could be at curbside baggage, the ticket
counter or near the metal detectors and X-ray machines. The Transportation
Security Administration hopes to have as many as 500 Behavior Detection
Officers on the job by the end of 2008.

But what about the woman who is getting on a plane to see a dying relative? Or
the man who is traveling to another state to see a cancer specialist in a last
bid for extending his life? What about the guy who just had a fight with his
spouse and now worries that a plane crash would mean their last words were in
anger? We've all had the experience of having a bad day, being in a rotten
mood-especially at the airport, which has become a modern-day chamber or
horrors. On those days, doesn't it seem like everyone we meet looks sour and
unpleasant? The opposite is also true. When we're happy and joyful, we look at
others and see happiness in them. Or even if we don't, we look at them kindly
and with compassion. It's human nature to look at others through the lens of
our own reality.

Here's where it gets really absurd. Apparently, these Behavior Detection
Officers work in pairs. One scenario is that an officer might move in to help
a passenger retrieve their belongings after they've been screened. And then the
officer will ask where the passenger is headed. If the passenger's reaction
sets off alarm bells in the officer's well-trained mind, another officer will
move in and detain them. Let's be really clear here. If a stranger moved in on
me like that, I'd tell that person to go to hell, throw in a few other
expletives for good measure and probably give them the finger as I stomped off.
Of course, I wouldn't be stomping very far.

Woman sues over headscarf

News24    06/12/2007 17:15  - (SA)

Los Angeles - A Muslim woman arrested for riding a commuter train without a
valid ticket has filed a federal lawsuit in the United States, claiming her
religious freedom was violated when she was forced to remove her headscarf when
she was taken to jail.

Jameelah Medina also said she was intimidated by a deputy who accused her of
being a terrorist and called Islam an evil religion, according to the suit
filed on Wednesday in US District Court by the American Civil Liberties Union
of Southern California.

The suit names the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department and Deputy Craig
Roberts of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

A message left with the San Bernardino sheriff's officials after business hours
on Wednesday was not returned.

Los Angeles sheriff's spokespersom Deputy Bill Brauberger said he had not seen
the suit and could not comment. Brauberger could not immediately say if Roberts
was still part of the department. Attempts to find a home listing for Roberts
were unsuccessful.

Medina, 29, a PhD student at Claremont Graduate University, was riding a
commuter train from San Bernardino to the California State University, Los
Angeles station on December 7 2005, when two officers asked to see her ticket,
according to the suit.

Treated badly

We don't dispute the basis of the arrest, said Medina's lawyer, Hector
Villagra. The issue is how she was treated. She wants to make sure no one else
goes through what she went through.

After determining her ticket was invalid, the officers told her to get off at
the next station, where a deputy would be waiting for her.

Roberts handcuffed Medina, put her in the back of a police car and began
driving her to a jail. During the ride, Roberts berated Medina and Islam,
according to the suit.

Roberts accused Medina of being a terrorist and supporting terrorism. He
stated that Muslims are evil ... and that the United States was in Iraq at
God's direction to squash evil, read the suit.

At the West Valley Detention Centre in San Bernardino, Medina was forced to
remove her headscarf despite several attempts to explain to a female deputy why
she wore it, the suit said.

Many Muslim women wear a head covering, also known as the hijab, as part of
their faith, believing their hair should not be visible to men outside the
family.

After several hours, Medina was released without being charged or fined, her
lawyer said.

Headscarf allowed in jail

Two or three officers, including Defendant Roberts, saw her exposed without
her headscarf during the course of that day, according to the suit.

The suit seeks unspecified damages and attorney fees.

Villagra said the federal prison system allows female Muslim inmates to wear
the headscarf while in custody.

If federal prisons can do that, there is no reason that San Bernardino
sheriff's can't also, he said.
