Bismillah [IslamCity] Dhaka Clashes between police and people.- Asia Post, Dhaka, editorial dated 16.4.08

Dhaka Clashes between police and people.

We have seen clashes in Dhaka city between police and people around Baitul
mukarram city center .The people were agitating against some parts of the
recently announced women policy which has some parts which create confusion
whether the policy violates the stipulation of the Quran with regard to
inheritance. The confusion has been created because clause 9.3 of the policy
says that new law will be made to establish equal right in all movable and
immovable property.Any body can see that this new law will affect inheritance
law in various ways. The drafting was indeed either foolish or very clever to
deceive people.Islamic inheritance law is important for Muslims because it does
justice keeping in view the liabilities of various parties. We are not
mentioning the advantage for women in maintenance law of Islam and how it gives
over-all edge to women when implemented .The policy has further created
confusion by mentioning implementation of CEDAW without mentioning the
reservations Bangladesh like many other countries has given to this document .

In any case these are no justifications for lawlessness. Some elements in
press, in left political front have over stressed the clashes .Some people are
calling it prelude to civil war and repeatation of Lal Masjid of
Islamabad.These are clearly motivated propaganda.

There had been much more police-people clashes in all parts of Bangladesh ,
specially in Dhaka, even around Baitul Mukarram , during the last time of
President Ershad , last days of Khalida Zia's government in 96 and 2006 , at
the beginning of present caretaker government in october 2006.At that time ,
these people did not say about civil war .

The present problem has been created by several quarters, not one section,
first making a women policy which can affect some Quranic provisions, then
govt's failure to amend the policy quickly. Continuation of movement by some
Madrasah and political elements even after government's declaration that they
will do nothing against Quranic commands and laws was also responsible. Then
police excess in not allowing a delegation to submit a memo to the Chief
Advisor , attack on police by some elements in Baitul Mukarram area, and
provocative statement by Madam Rasheda Chowdury that this policy is in accord
with the constitution without realizing that all rights are subject to law and
basic principles of the constitution contributed to escalation of the problem.
Some media and political people are trying to discredit Islamic elements only,
they are trying to blame main Islamic party who are not involved in these
clashes at all ( as stated by them in press statements). This part of the press
has never been fair in news generally , particularly about Islamic elements.

We ask the government to quickly review the policy and also ask the agitating
public to stop unlawful agitation.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Christian missionaries' deception!

2008-04-16 Thread Ahumanb
Christian missionaries' deception!

Many hateful Christian missionaries are prone to compare between Jesus (P)
and Muhammad (P) in the most deceptive manner to defame Muhammad! What they do
is that they cunningly pick up the best word from the Bible to attribute for
Jesus and the worst word from Hadith (not even Quran!) to attribute for
Muhammad! LOL! Here I am using Bible and Quran to make a sample comparison
between them, and see how Jesus would look like! Although, unlike Christian
Missionaries, I have not quoted the Biblical verses out of context!

Jesus says: "I come not to send peace, but a sword." (Matthew 10:34)

Allah says (through Muhammad): "We sent thee not, but as a Mercy for all
Creatures." (Quran 21:107)

Jesus says: "If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and
wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he
cannot be my disciple." (Luke 14:26)

Allah says: "And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Full of Loving-Kindness." (Quran
85:14)

Jesus says: "Those mine enemies which would not that I should reign over
them, bring hither, and slay them before me." (Luke 19:27)

"If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and
men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned." (John 15:6)

Allah says: "It may be that Allah will grant love and friendship between you
and those whom ye hold as enemies. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."
(Quran 60:7)

Jesus says: "Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you,
Nay; but rather division." (Luke 12:51-2)

Allah says: "And hold fast all together, and be not divided among
yourselves." (Quran 3:103)

This is just a sample from New Testament. We are not going to Old Testament
to embarrass Christian missionaries! Interested readers may want to go through
some of the verses from OT & NT that are full of war, killing, stoning,
burning, genocide, hatred, racism, etc. (Ezekiel 9:5-7; Numbers 31:17-18; 1
Samuel 15:3; 29:5; Deuteronomy 2:32-37; 3:1-7; 7:1-6; 13:6-18; 21:18-22;
22:25-29; 23:1-4; 25:1-3; 28:15-68; Joshua 2:8-21; 8:23-29; 10:28-43; Judges
1:21-35; 21:10-24; Matthew 2:16; Exodus 32:27; Leviticus 25:44-46; Matthew 15:
21-28; Deuteronomy 13:6-10; 17:2-5; 2 Chronicles 15:13; etc.).

I wish Christian missionaries would learn a lesson for their deception!

PS: Quran doesn't distinguish between the Prophets (Quran 3:84).

Bismillah [IslamCity] Hidaya Foundation - One Million Trees Project: Donate - Only $1 per Tree

2008-04-16 Thread Waseem Baloch
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:"If the Hour (end of the world) is about
to be established and one of you was holding a palm shoot, let him take
advantage of even one second before the Hour is established to plant it."
[Sahih Al- Jami' Al-Saghir, No.1424]

While the Prophet (pbuh) has emphasized the importance of caring for the
land, the reality is that due to carelessness and ignorance, the environment
and landscape across the globe is being destroyed. The earth has become
polluted and the climate is changing because of the lack of vegetation, among
other reasons. Hidaya has initiated the One Million Trees Project to address
these concerns.

Goals of the Project are to:

Successfully plant and grow one million trees in ten years, worldwide
Help the new generation to understand the importance and impact of trees on
their lives and the ecosystem.
Teach poor farmers how to plant appropriate trees so they may benefit from
low quality farm lands which face issues such as salinity and lack of water.

This Spring, over 70,000 seedlings have been arranged and are being
distributed. In Pakistan, students from several schools are planting seedlings
with the help of Hidaya's team. Also, several more schools in the USA have
contacted Hidaya and seedlings are being distributed for students to plant
throughout the country. Hidaya is providing seedlings, free of cost to
students and deserving farmers along with brochures which explain the benefits
of trees and how to successfully plant and grow them.

Just imagine, on average it costs only $1 per tree. If you would like to
learn more about the project or are willing to help us in expanding the
project, kindly email, call or donate towards this great cause. For more

THE TEARS OF RASULULLAH (SAW)...

Suddenly, there was a person who said salaam.

"May I come in?" he asked.

But Fatimah did not allow him to enter the room.

"I'm sorry, my father is ill," said Fatimah, and turned back and closed the
door.

She went back to her father who had opened his eyes and he asked Fatimah,
"Who was he, my daughter?"

"I don't know, my father. It's the first time I'm seeing him," Fatimah said
gently.

Then, Rasulullah (SAW) looked at his daughter with a trembled look, as if he
wanted to reminisce about every part of his daughter's face.

"Know one thing! He is who erases the temporary pleasure; he is who
separates the companionship in the world. He is the angel of death," said
Rasulullah (SAW).

Fatimah bore the bomb of her cry.

The death angel came toward him, but Rasulullah (SAW) asked why Jibril did
not come along with him.

Then, Jibril was called. Jibril was ready in the sky to welcome the soul of
Habibullah and the leader of the earth.

"O Jibril, explain to me about my rights in front of ALLAH?" Rasulullah
(SAW) asked with a weak voice.

"The doors of the sky have opened; the angels are waiting for your soul."

"All jannats are open widely waiting for you," Jibril said.

But, in fact, all that did not make Rasulullah (SAW) relieved. His eyes were
still full of worry.

"You are not happy to hear this news?" asked Jibril.

"Tell me about the destiny of my people in the future?"

"Don't worry, o Rasul ALLAH. I heard ALLAH told me: 'I make jannat haram for
everyone, except the people of Muhammad" Jibril said.

It became closer and closer, the time for Malaekat Izrail to do his work.
Slowly, Rasulullah's (SAW) soul was pulled. It seemed that the body of
Rasulullah (SAW) was full of sweat; the nerves of his neck became tight.

"Jibril, how pain this sakaratul maut is!"

Rasulullah (SAW) uttered a groan slowly. Fatimah closed her eyes, Ali sat
beside her bow deeply and Jibril turned his face back.

"Am I repugnant to you that you turn your face back o Jibril?" Rasulullah
(SAW) asked to the Deliverer of Wahyu.

"Who is the one who could see the Habibullah in his sakaratul maut," Jibril
said.

Not for a while, Rasulullah (SAW) uttered a groan because of unbearable
pain.

"O ALLAH, how greatest is this sakaratul maut. Give me all these pains,
don't to my people."

The body of Rasulullah (SAW) became cold, his feet and chest did not move
anymore.

His lips vibrated as if he wanted to say something, Ali took his ear close
to Rasulullah (SAW).

"Uushiikum bis shalati, wa maa malakat aimanuku?, take care the shalat and
take care the weak people among you."

Outside the room, there were cries shouted each other, sahabat held each
other. Fatimah closed her face with her hands and, again, Ali took his ear
close to Rasulullah's (SAW) mouth which became bluish.

"Ummatii, ummatii, ummatii?" ? "My people, my people, my people."

And the life of the noble man ended.

Could we love each other like him? Allahumma sholli 'ala Muhammad wa baarik
wa salim 'alaihi.

How deep is Rasulullah's (SAW) love to us.
-
Note:

Send this to all your Muslim friends so that the awareness to love ALLAH and
HIS Rasul appears as ALLAH and HIS Rasul love us - Amiin?

Don't worry if people hate you because there are many others who love and
care for you in the earth. But be worried if ALLAH hates you because there
is no other who loves and cares for you in akhirat.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Yusuf Estes Explains 'Beauty of Islam'

2008-04-16 Thread Ahumanb
Yusuf Estes Explains 'Beauty of Islam'
P.K. Abdul Ghafour, Arab News
Texas-based Islamic preacher Yusuf Estes delivers a lecture at the Saudi German
Hospital Auditorium in Jeddah. (AN photo)JEDDAH, 13 April 2008 —
The strident smear campaign against Islam and Muslims following 9/11 in the US
encouraged many American men and women to study and embrace Islam, Yusuf Estes,
a leading Islamic scholar and preacher from Texas, said on Friday night.

“They are doing the job for us,” Estes, himself a convert, said while
delivering a lecture on “The Beauty of Islam” at the Saudi German Hospital
Auditorium in Jeddah. However, he reminded Muslims of their big responsibility
in spreading the message of Islam among others.

Hamoud Al-Shimimry of the Islamic Education Foundation also highlighted the
importance of dawa work. “If a person embraces Islam as a result of your work,
it is better than any other achievement in this world,” he told the
participants, quoting Qur’anic verses and Sayings of the Prophet (peace be upon
him). He said a Filipino had helped 25 fellow nationals to learn and embrace
Islam.

Estes said having peace of mind is the ultimate beauty of Islam. “Wealth and
luxuries cannot provide the ultimate happiness to human beings. But the peace
of mind we obtain through the faith in God and engaging in righteous deeds
makes us happy,” he said.

Total submission to God and His will is also the beauty of Islam, he
explained. “Amazing is the case of a believer. If anything good happens, he
thanks God; while if anything bad befalls him, he remains patient,” he said
quoting a Saying of the Prophet. “If any calamity, such as the death of a
beloved person, occurs a Muslim says, ‘We are from God and to Whom we all
return.’ This is the beauty of Islam.”

Estes described the Holy Qur’an as an amazing book, adding that millions of
Muslims around the world have memorized it. “No other book, including the
Bible, has been memorized by so many people,” he added.

Estes ridiculed those who make false propaganda that Muslim children are
learning how to make bombs at Islamic schools. “Muslims are the first enemies
of terrorists,” he said.

He said many people were not embracing Islam not because of the lack of
knowledge but because they don’t care. Asked whether he would invite US
President George W. Bush to Islam, he said: “We pray to God that He may guide
him to Islam. Islam gives us the right direction and it removes our blindness
about the mystery of this universe. I am very happy to be a Muslim and part of
the 1.5 billion-strong world of Islam,” he said.

Estes advised Muslims to be patient in testing times. “Allah does not
guarantee the believers a smooth and comfortable life in this world. Hardships
in this world will bring them more reward in the hereafter,” he said.

Estes, a former priest and missionary who embraced Islam in 1991, gave
another lecture on “Muslim Youth in Today’s Society” at the same venue on
Thursday. He advised parents to spent “quality time” with their children. “This
will not only help educate them in all aspects of life but reduce their
tendency to indulge in bad habits when left alone,” he added. He answered
questions from boys and girls from different schools in Jeddah.

A Filipino declared his intention to embrace Islam during the event and Estes
helped him to pronounce the Shahada (There is no god but God and Muhammad is
His messenger).

Sheikh Mohamed Subhi and Wajdi Akkari from Jeddah Dawa Center also addressed
the audience. In his welcome speech, professor Mohamed Abubaker of King Abdul
Aziz University introduced Estes while Mohamed Ali Chundakkadan gave a vote of
thanks. The event was jointly organized by the Indian Islahi Center and Jeddah
Dawa Center.

Al-Arian began his first hunger strike last year after being given a sentence
of up to 18 months for refusing to testify before a grand jury in Virginia. His

the government. Supporters also say the government's actions amount to a form
of harassment.
In December of last year, CAIR welcomed a judge's decision to lift civil
contempt charges against Al-Arian. The charges were dropped when the grand jury
he was subpoenaed to testify before expired.

Prostitution is rife among many of India's low-caste, also known as the
Dalits. (Telegraph Photo)
CAIRO — Suli, 14, sat quietly by the side of the dusty high way to the
Indian city of Jaipur. She is not waiting for a ride but rather for a
customer willing to "buy" her virginity.

"I will go with whoever pays the highest price," the girl, dressed up in a
brand new pink sari and heavy make-up, told the *Sunday Telegraph* on April
13.

Suli is the new hot selling of her small village, where some 59 families,
all members of the low-caste Bedia tribe, push children as young as 12 to
prostitution.

"I do not know how it is going to be," she said.

"I know other girls who are in the trade but I have not asked them how it
is."

A virgin is sold to the highest bidder, who can have access to her as long
as he likes, for anything over 20,000 rupees ($512).

If the girl is very pretty, the price could rise to some 40,000 rupees.

Prostitution is rife among many of India's low-caste, also known as the
Dalits.

Dalits are those at the bottom of India's social system which separates
people into Brahmin priests, warriors, farmers, laborers, and those beyond
definition, including the Dalits.

Dalits often do the most menial jobs, while they are deprived of education
either out of their abject poverty or discrimination at schools and
universities.

*No more*

Once a girl has lost her virginity she cannot marry and her prostitution
rate goes down to 100 rupees.

She continues to sell her body until turning forty when she is no longer
considered desirable.

She will then have to depend on any children she may have for financial
support.

But some people, even old prostitutes, are fighting this business.

"My daughter will get educated, and not enter this profession," says Ritu,
herself a victim of the trade.

"I have seen what it is like. I don't want it for her."

The plight of low-caste girls has drawn the attention of national and
international groups who are working to break the prostitution cycle.

One of those groups is GNK, an NGO that has set up several hostel and
schools to cater for prostitutes' children.

At one such hostels, a young boy proudly recounts how he had persuaded his
grandmother not to push his aunt into prostitution.

"My grandmother said that she would kill herself if my aunt did not go into
the trade and earn money," he told the *Telegraph*.

"But I persuaded her, and my aunt got married."

Bismillah [IslamCity] Zealousness and Apathy

2008-04-16 Thread saiyed shahbazi
Shaykh Salman delivered this address – "The Muslim Community between the
Extremes of Zealousness and Apathy" – during the inaugural session of the
second international conference of the Global Centre for Renewal and Guidance.
The conference, entitled "Guidance of Thoughts and Behaviors" was held in
Mauritania's capital city of Nouakchott from 26 to 28 March, 2008.

After acknowledging – in verse – the great services to Islam that Mauritania
has provided over the centuries, he began by saying:

When we speak about moderation, we must first define moderation as a concept
and pinpoint its essence. This is because there has never been any disagreement
between various Islamic factions that moderation is the proper approach that
should be sought. Everyone agrees that moderation is something praiseworthy.
Even the Kharijites – that most extreme and fanatical of sects – claimed
moderation for themselves.

The problem is in how people conceive the idea of moderation, since the
principle of moderation is, in the abstract, something that everyone accepts.

This is because Allah says: "And thus We have made you a moderate nation."
[Sûrah al-Baqarah: 143]

The text that most strongly establishes and defines the proper concept of
moderation in Islam is where the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) says:
“This religion is easy. No one becomes harsh and strict in the religion without
it overwhelming him. So fulfill your duties as best you can and rejoice. Rely
upon the efforts of the morning and the evening and a little at night and you
will reach your goal.” [Sahîh al-Bukharî]

With these words, the Prophet (peace be upon him) gives us a clear
understanding of moderation. The hadîth establishes the essential principle
that the religion is one of ease and facilitation. Muslims today are in great
need of understanding this properly.

Moderation and facilitation do not imply that a person can follow his own
predilections without regard for the dictates of the sacred texts. By contrast,
moderation is intrinsic to those texts. It is embodied in Islamic teachings
which are drawn from the Qur'ân and Sunnah. Being moderate, therefore, has
nothing to do with following one's base desires.

It is not possible for people to agree with one another all the time. People
are not all of one heart. This is alluded to by the Prophet (peace be upon him)
where he says: "So fulfill your duties as best you can." No one should become
insistent upon following a limited, personal vision in applying Islam's rulings
to himself or to others.

  * * * * *

Moderation should be employed when preaching to people and calling them to
righteousness. Exhortations should never be taken to an excess where the
listener begins to despair of attaining Allah's forgiveness and mercy. What is
desired is to give people the glad tidings that the doors of repentance and
mercy are open to all.

  * * * * *

When we work for our faith, our loyalty in doing so must be to Allah and His
Messenger. This religion is far too great for us to confine our loyalties to a
specific movement or group.

Even though much of the disagreement between various Islamic organizations is
in minor matters, we find too often that this disagreement tends to polarize
the Muslims.

  * * * * *

Moderation is not a single, rigid idea. Nor is it a mere slogan to be invoked
at various times. Rather, it is a methodology, a principled approach based upon
the Qur'ân and Sunnah with regard to the general objectives of Islamic Law and
an attitude of assuming the best about others and seeking the best way to
facilitate their needs.

The opposite of moderation is extremism. There are two kinds of extremism in
religion. One is zealotry and excessiveness. The other is apathy and a wanton
disregard for moral values.

Either way, it is a crisis when extremism besets a nation or a civilization.
This has been the case throughout history and for all societies. There can be
no doubt that Islam's message gives us best and most comprehensive way to
remedy extremism and dispel it.

  * * * * *

The following measures can be implemented help to solve the problem of
extremism in our societies:

1. Scholars should be facilitated in carrying out their efforts. They need
to be given access to the media.

  2. Educational and news channels need to be established that present the true
image of Islam to the public.

  3. There needs to be moral reform in the Muslim world.

  4. Muslim societies should rectify the errors in beliefs and legal rulings
that are prevalent.

  5. Justice is essential. People's rights must be ensured. Upholding people's
rights is essential to Islam. This is part of our Islamic heritage that is
attested to by many examples from our history.

This task, moreover, is everyone's responsibi

Bismillah [IslamCity] Prophets guidance on drinking water

2008-04-16 Thread SA PEER MOHAMED
Drinking from a chipped side of cup is not allowed

Abu Dawud narrated in his Sunan that Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri (R.A.) said:
“The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) disallowed drinking from the chipped side
of the cup and from breathing in the drink.”

The Hadith also teaches the Muslim many types of good behavior. For instance,
drinking from the chipped side of the cup might cause one to swallow the
substances that have accumulated near the chipped side. Also, one might not be
able to enjoy his drink when he is drinking from the cup’s chipped side. In
addition, dirt and fat concentrate near the chipped side and are usually not
fully cleaned when rinsed. Also, the chipped side of the cup is the worst and
is not beneficial. One of our Salaf saw a man once buying inferior goods and
said to him, “Do not buy it, do you not know that Allah has not blessed
inferior things?” Also, the chipped side of the cup might cause injury to
the mouth.

As for breathing in the cup, it will transfer the foul odor from the person
to the drink. This is why the Prophet (s.a.w.s.) has disallowed breathing or
blowing in it. In the Hadith that At-Tirmidhi narrated, Ibn ‘Abbas (R.A.)
said:
“The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.s.) prohibited breathing in the pot (or cup)
or blowing on it.

If some asks, “What about the Hadith in the Sahihain in which Anas (R.A)
narrated:
“The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.S.) used to take three breaths while
drinking”?

We say that we believe in this Hadith and that it does not contradict the
Ahadith that we mentioned, because it only means that the Prophet (S.A.W.S.)
did not sip the drink in one breath.

The Prophet (S.A.W.S.) drank milk undiluted or mixed with water.

Drinking sweet milk in hot areas is very beneficial in preserving the health
and providing moisture for the body and the liver. This is especially the case
when the animals that produce the milk have grazed on wormwood, lavender,
lavender cotton, and so forth, because their milk is both a food and a medicine.
At-Tirmidhi narrated that the Prophet (S.A.W.S.) said:
“When any of you eats food, let him say, ’O Allah! Bless it for us and
give us what is better than it. ‘When someone is given milk, let him say,
‘O Allah! Bless it for us and give us more of it.’ Certainly, milk is the
only food or drink that is sufficient.”

  Further, Muslim narrated:
“The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.S.) used to be made Nabith (some dates
soaked in water) in the beginning of the night and would drink it in the
morning of the next day, the next night and the next day, and another night,
and the next day until ‘Asr. If any of it remained, he would then give it to
a servant or would order that it be poured out.”

The Nabith mentioned in this Hadith is some dates that are soaked in water to
sweeten the water and it is used both in drinks and foods. The Nabith has a
great benefit in strengthening the body and preserving the health. The Prophet
(S.A.W.S.) did not drink the Nabith that is more than three days old fearing
that it might have started to decompose and become intoxicating.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Mind over Matter

2008-04-16 Thread Mustafa Mawjee

IT IS NOT WHAT YOU HAVE BUT IT IS HOW YOU THINK
HAS A PROFOUND EFFECT ON YOUR LIFE

A business executive was deep in debt and could see no way out. Creditors
were closing in on him. Suppliers were demanding payment. He sat on the park
bench , head in hands, wondering if anything could save his company from
bankruptcy.

Suddenly an old man appeared before him. "I can see that something is
troubling you," he said. After listening to the executive's woes, the old man
said, "I believe I can help you." He asked the man his name, wrote out a
check, and pushed it into his hand saying, "Take this money. Meet me here
exactly one year from today, and you can pay me back at that time." Then he
turned and disappeared as quickly as he had come.

The business executive saw in his hand a check for $500,000, signed by
John D. Rockefeller, then one of the richest men in the world! "I can erase my
money worries in an instant!" he realized. But instead, the executive decided
to put the un-cashed check in his safe. Just knowing it was there might give
him the strength to work out a way to save his business, he thought.

With renewed optimism, he negotiated better deals and extended terms of
payment. He closed several big sales. Within a few months, he was out of debt
and making money once again. Exactly one year later, he returned to the park
with the un- cashed check. At the agreed-upon time, the old man appeared. But
just as the executive was about to hand back the check and share his success
story, a nurse came running up and grabbed the old man.

"I'm so glad I caught him!" she cried. "I hope he hasn't been bothering
you. He's always escaping from the rest home and telling people he's John D.
Rockefeller. " And she led the old man away by the arm. The astonished
executive just stood there, stunned. All year long he'd been wheeling and
dealing, buying and selling, convinced he had half a million dollars behind him.

Suddenly, he realized that it wasn't the money, real or imagined, that
had turned his life around. It was his newfound self-confidence that gave him
the power to achieve anything he went after.
