*US marines in hot water over Christian coins in Iraq*

The US military said on Friday it was probing complaints that marines handed
out coins inscribed with a verse from the Bible to a group of Sunni Muslims
in Iraq, sparking outrage among local residents.

It said a service member involved in the incident in the former flashpoint
city of Fallujah west of Baghdad was removed from his duties on Thursday.

US forces initiated an investigation into reports that a coin with a Bible
verse written in Arabic was distributed to Iraqi citizens as they passed
through a Fallujah entry control point, the military said in a statement.

A coalition force service member was removed from his duties Thursday amid
concerns from Fallujah's citizens regarding reports of inappropriate
conduct.

Residents of Fallujah, scene of one of the bloodiest post-invasion battles
between insurgents and US forces in Iraq in 2004, said that marines had been
doling out the token-like coins to residents to promote Christianity.

The incident occurred less than than two weeks after a US soldier was
removed from Iraq for using a Koran for target practice at a firing range
near Baghdad and writing graffiti in the Muslim holy book.

The incident sparked outrage from the Iraqi government of President Nuri
al-Maliki and prompted an apology from US President George W. Bush. But it
triggered protests that left several people dead in Afghanistan.

FALLUJAH, IRAQ — At the western entrance to Fallujah on Tuesday, Muamar Anad
handed his residence badge to the U.S. Marines guarding the city. They
checked to be sure that he was a city resident, and when they were done,
Anad said, a Marine slipped a coin out of his pocket and put it in his hand.

Out of fear, he accepted it, Anad said. When he was inside the city, the
college student said, he looked at one side of the coin. Where will you
spend eternity? it asked.

On the other side it read, For God so loved the world, that He gave His
only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have
eternal life. John 3:16.

They are trying to convert us to Christianity, said Anad, a Sunni Muslim
like most residents of this city in Anbar province. At home, he told his
story, and his relatives echoed their disapproval: They'd been given the
coins, too, he said.

Fallujah, the scene of a bloody U.S. offensive against Sunni insurgents in
2004, has calmed and grown less hostile to American troops since residents
turned against al-Qaida in Iraq, which had tried to force its brand of
Islamist extremism on the population.

Now residents are abuzz that some Americans whom they consider occupiers are
acting as Christian missionaries. Residents said some Marines at the western
entrance to their city have been passing out the coins for two days in what
they call a humiliating attempt to convert them to Christianity.

In the markets, people crowded around men with the coins, passing them to
each other and asking in surprise, Have you seen this?

In an e-mail, Rear Adm. Patrick Driscoll, a U.S. military spokesman, said Iraq
is investigating a report that U.S. military personnel in Fallujah handed
out material that is religious and evangelical in nature. Local commanders
are investigating since the military prohibits proselytizing any religion,
faith or practices.

They are talking about holy war.
They see themselves as martyrs.
For them, other religions are heresy.
You will probably think it's about radical islamists.
No, this time we are talking about radical Christians.
There are several millions of these fanatic fundamentalist in the U.S.A.
Thanks to them, George Bush became the president.
But the activities of these Christian fanatics aren't limited just to the
U.S.
They want to convert the whole world to Christianity.
A suddent chance is given to them, with the start of the war in Iraq.
Just after the occupation, came the missionaries.
And while people get killed every day they are trying to convert muslims to
Christianity.
In most of cases secretly, but with permission of US government.

It seems unnoticable from the outside, but this is a new-built church.
Iraq Christians during liturgy. Among them there are american missionaries.
The church is their base.
From here, they are planning to convert the Iraq to Christianity.

Bismillah [IslamCity] What is Ayatul Kursi ?

2008-06-06 Thread Adil

In the name of Allah, the Most-Merciful, the All-Compassionate

May the Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon You
Praise be to Allaah, we seek His help and His forgiveness. We seek refuge with
Allaah from the evil of our own souls and from our bad deeds. Whomsoever Allaah
guides will never be led astray, and whomsoever Allaah leaves astray, no one
can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allaah, and I bear witness
that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam 'ala Rasulillah
As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu

What is Ayatul Kursi
compiled from various sources by Adil Khan

Perhaps you might have your parents mention Ayatul Kursi, or encourage you to
memorise it. It is an ayah (verse) from the Qur'an, in Surah Baqarah. From this
ayah we learn some very important facts.

There is no one like Allah. We need Him, but He doesn't need us at all. He is
the one who created the Universe. It belongs to Him; He looks after it and
protects it. And He never gets tired or sleepy. He knows everything about us
and what will happen to us, and any knowledge we have is only what He allows us
to have.

Below is a simple meaning of this ayah in English to make it easier for you to
understand:

Allahu la ilaha ilia huwal-Hayyul-Qayyum.
Allah. There is no god but He, the Ever-Living, the One who takes care of all
that exists.

La ta-khu-zhu-hu sinatun wa la nawm.
Nothing can make Him drowsy or make Him sleep

La hu ma fissamawati wa ma fil-ard
His are all things in the heavens and on earth.

Man dhallladhi yashfa 'ou 'indahu ilia bi idhnihi
Who is there can intercede* in His presence unless He allows it?

Ya'lamu ma bayna aydiyhim wa ma khalfahum
He knows what (appears to His creatures as) before or after or behind them,

Wa la yu hiytoona bi shay-imman 'ilmihi Utah bi ma shaa-a
While they will never have any of HisKnowledge unless He wills.

Wa si'a kursiyuhus-samaawaati wal-ard
His 'Kursi' contains the heavens and the earth,

Wa la ya-ooduhu Hifzuhuma
and He doesn't feel tired in guarding and preserving them

Wahuwal- 'aliyul- 'azeem
for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory).

*On the Day of Judgment, there will be no one to 'intercede' in Allah's
presence. This means there will be no one to help us, unless He allows them to
speak.

Allah's names in this ayat:

Al-Hayy: The One who lives forever and has always lived.
Al-Qayyum: The One who survives by Himself, and looks after all by His Power.
Al-'Aliy : The Most High
Al-'Azeenv : The Supreme, the Great, the Magnificent One.

Some Hadith about
Ayatul Kursi

The greatest verse of the Qur'an:
Abu bhar said; 0 Messenger of Allah, what is the greatest thing that has been
revealed to you? He said, Ayat al-Kursi, 'Allah! La ilaha ilia Huwa...'
[an-Nasa'i]

The benefit of reciting it: He (saws) also said: When you lie down in your
bed, recite ayat al-Kursi, Allah! La ilaha ilia Huwa (none has the right to be
worshipped but He), the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that
exists... [al-Baraqah 2:255] until the end of the ayah, then you will have a
protector from Allah and no shaytan (devil) will come near you until morning
comes. [Sahih al-Bukhari]

What Prophet Muhammad (saws) said about the 'Kursi':
Compared with the KURSI, the whole universe is as little as a ring thrown upon
a desert. Similarly, compared with the 'ARSH (Throne), the kursi is as little
as a ring thrown upon the deserf.[Tafsir a-Tabari].
-The 'Arsh is Allah's Throne and Allah is 'above it' (Istawa ala al-Arsh).
http://www.freewebs.com/raziaworld2/whatisayatulkursi.htm

Concerning the virtue of reciting this aayah after the prescribed prayers, it
was narrated that Abu Umaamah said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever recites Aayat al-Kursiy
immediately after each prescribed prayer, there will be nothing standing
between him and his entering Paradise except death.” This is how it was
narrated by al-Nasaa’i in al-Yawm wa’l-Laylah, from al-Hasan ibn Bishr. It was
also narrated by Ibn Hibbaan in his Saheeh from Muhammad ibn Humayr, who is
al-Homsi, and is also one of the men of al-Bukhaari. The isnaad meets the
conditions of al-Bukhaari.

Rasool Allah peace be upon him said, Whoever recites Aayatul Kursi after every

as he/she dies, will enter Jannah)
(Nisa'i, Ibne Habban, Ibnelsani A'n Abi Amatah Albahili Radiallah Anhu)

It's in another Hadis that Reciting Ayatul Kursi after one Fard (Fard Salat)
will stay in Allah's protection until the next Salat.
(Tibrani Fil Kabeer, A'n Alhasan Bin Ali Radiallah Anhu)

Bismillah [IslamCity] Jews Don't Want Islamic Companies on Dow Jones

2008-06-06 Thread Z T Minhas
Islam Isn’t Kosher
by Michael S. Rozeff
by Michael S. Rozeff

In U.S. companies and Islamic law, Rachel Ehrenfeld and Alyssa A. Lappen
call for the U.S. government to outlaw the Dow Jones Islamic Markets index. No
joke.
Ronald Radosh claimed one of the bad isolationist ideas was that war means
militarism and repression at home. He’s wrong. If neoconservatives want to
repress a stock index of all things, free speech is not far behind. President
Bush just blasted criticism of how the Iraq War began as deeply
irresponsible and illegitimate.
Dow Jones Indexes recently licensed its Islamic Market Turkey Index to Family
Finans House, Turkey’s largest noninterest banking house, to be the basis for
an Exchange Traded Fund on the Istanbul Stock Exchange. The Turkish market is
up 20% this year. The U.S. market is up 2%.
The Turkish index is part of a Dow Jones family of about 31 Islamic indexes
composed of about 1,200 Shari’ah compliant stocks globally. These companies do
not produce alcohol or pork-related products, conventional banking services,
entertainment, tobacco, defense and weapons.
In America, there are similar mutual funds called socially-conscious funds
that preclude investing in certain types of businesses. What is so special
about Muslim preferences? They’re Muslim, that’s what.
According to Ehrenfeld and Lappen, Islam isn’t kosher: In their urgent
desire to find new markets, Americans have opened the door to Islamist
expansionism. These products are catering exclusively to Muslims, and only
advance the Islamic impetus to impose sharia-governed banking on the West.
They say there is no reason for American banks, businesses and investment
firms to introduce Islam or any other religion into the U.S. capital markets.
Since sharia, they say, is the same Islamic ideology that is used by Islamic
terrorists, its acceptance in any civil forum is not a good thing.
They do not even bother to qualify their statements with radical Muslim or
Islamo-fascist Muslim, just any Muslim will do. The number of American Muslims
might be 2 million or more. If they want to follow or buy these Islamic
stocks, they don’t count. Dow Jones doesn’t count either, nor do all other
investors, domestic or foreign, who might like to invest in Islamic
securities. (Diversification pays.) The people in Muslim lands don’t count who
might benefit if the companies issuing these stocks trade in a worldwide
market and obtain capital at a lower cost. Americans and others don’t count
who might do business with these companies that are based in Muslim lands.
The companies, they don’t count either. Freedom doesn’t count. Free trade
doesn’t count. The profit motive doesn’t count, and satisfying customers
doesn’t count because there is no reason for these indexes. Nothing counts
except to keep America pure and
untainted by Islamic ideology. Islam isn’t kosher.
The authors seriously claim that Islamic indexes introduce religion into the
capital market. Such indexes are treyf. To win the war on terror, we must not
allow preferences to influence loans or investments. Freedom does not count.
This is not repression?
The neoconservative Committee on the Present Danger (CPD) that sponsored this
paper is allied to the neoconservative Foundation for the Defense of
Democracies (FDD). The President of CPD, Clifford D. May, is also President of
the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies (FDD). Five of the top six
officials at FDD (Steve Forbes, Jack Kemp, Jeanne Kirkpatrick, Newt Gingrich,
and R. James Woolsey) also are on CPD.
It’s legitimate for high-level financial backing for the FDD to stem from,
among others, such Jewish figures as Dalck Feith (father of Douglas), Leonard
Abramson, members of the Bronfman family, Bernard Marcus, and Michael
Steinhardt. Mr. May says that the founders of the FDD helped secure funding
for the CPD by getting their friends to contribute. It is all right for AIPAC
to influence American politics. But it is not all right for Dow Jones to
compute and publish stock indexes. Is this fair?
Religion can be introduced into American politics, but American business must
not introduce Islam into capital markets. What’s logically next? The U.S. must
ban American Depository Receipts (ADRs) of foreign stocks from selected
countries that do not toe the American line. Then the bans can be extended to
American companies doing business in disapproved countries. The Congress can
then introduce sanctions against Americans doing business with anyone who does
business with anyone in a Muslim country. Why not ban movies like The Thief of
Baghdad, Flame of Araby, and Casablanca? Why not ban Persian rugs and
carpets? None of this is repression.
We are instructed not to support sharia because that is the same Islamic
ideology that the terrorists use. Hitler was Roman Catholic. Therefore, shun
all

I tried to renew my sons' passports and I had three women around me (obviously
undercover policewomen) with one trying to deny my request. I had been there a
few times before with them refusing saying that I needed the boys' father to
write me my permission to get their passports, etc. Now, they were trying to
get other reasons to deny me by stating that I needed their original birth
certificates to be sent with the books. I said that doesn't make any sense
since the US Department already saw the original and had a copy of it. They
were trying to tell me to start the process over by putting in a new request
for passports--I told her no. She also wanted me to mail in the application,
and I refused that as well. I told her that the passports would be sent back
to me if I sent it to the State Department especially since the boys are under
16 years of age. I said I am not going to send their original birth
certificates because I don't need to especially since this is a
renewal. I asked her whether I would have been given an easier time if I did
not have a hijab. I received no response except for a polite request to not
leave. I wrote my check and gave them the paperwork, only after it was
checked quite thoroughly by more than a few people (most of them seemed amazed
that I was able to fill out the instructions). During the midst of this
scenario, we had a little audience. Apparently, the nosy parkers who came by
felt that I must have downloaded a copy of the passport via the net and was
giving them paperwork that was invalid. Also, there was talk that a birth
certificate could be easily had from the internet--all this I wasn't aware of
but I realized that I do not have many friends in this stupid small town
(Wadesboro, NC) that I live in, and that some of them might be
criminally-inclined (especially with their innuendoes).

Anyway, here is a travesty where Palestinian students lost their scholarships
because of Israeli denials for their visas--Yaa'Allah.

Listen In
Only when we find the quietness in our own minds can we begin to hear our
inner teacher, so that we may receive some in-tuition. Only when we are ready
to recognise and value the wisdom that we carry at the core of our being will
we turn our attention inwards and 'listen in'. But it's been a long time since
we truly listened, so a little practice and patience will be needed. Sit down,
be quiet and listen in at some point today and you might be surprised at what
you hear. Then do it again tomorrow. All you need to do is remember that you
are the listener and not the noise.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Never Ending Emergency: Egypt Thinks It Democracy--Asia Pos , Dhaka, editorial dated 1.6.08

Never Ending Emergency: Egypt Thinks It Democracy

International news agencies have reported that the People's Assembly voted on
Monday to extend the emergency law for another two years. The extension came in
spite of promises, repeated endlessly in 2006, that emergency rule would be
replaced by an anti-terror bill once the current extension expired. The
emergency law, in force since 1981, grants police and security forces sweeping
powers, allowing them, in effect, to hold Egyptian citizens indefinitely,
without charge. Some 305 MPs voted in favour of the extension, and just 103
voted against.

Addressing the assembly on Monday, Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif told MPs that the
government had found it too difficult to draft an anti-terror bill in two
years. I told the assembly two years ago that I hoped the government would be
able to draw up the bill in two years but the experience of other countries has
served to underline that promulgating such a law without adequate study is
disastrous, said Nazif. The main difficulty facing the government, said Nazif,
was to strike a balance between public freedom and domestic security
concerns..Nazif promised that the emergency law would be invoked in the
battle against terrorism and drug-trafficking and not to limit political
freedoms. Amid protests from Muslim Brotherhood MPs, Nazif appealed to MPs not
to allow the forces of evil and terrorism to undermine security and stability.

Al-Ahram has reported that civil society organisations joined forces with
opposition MPs to condemn the extension, charging the regime with using the
27-year-old emergency law to stifle protests and muzzle freedoms of speech. A
statement signed by 103 opposition MPs said, 27 years of emergency rule have
led to the proliferation of human rights abuses, including systematic torture
in prisons and police stations. The statement argued that by extending
emergency rule for another two years the government was tacitly admitting that
for the last three decades Egypt had needed extraordinary laws to guarantee its
stability and still needed such laws, hardly an advertisement for foreign
investments.Hafez Abu Seada, secretary-general of the Egyptian Organisation for
Human Rights accuses the emergency rule of turning Egypt into, what he terms, a
police state. It reflects a mindset that prefers security interventions to
political solutions for Egypt's many crises. Diaa Rashwan, a political analyst
at Al-Ahram Centre for Political and Strategic Studies, believes that the
government opted to extend emergency law because to abolish it would mean doing
away with emergency courts. It is not preparing a new anti- terror law that
the government finds difficult, he says. Their problem is containing the
results of abrogating the emergency law, particularly the elimination of
emergency courts. Muslim Brotherhood MPs complain that since 1981 50,000 of
their supporters have been detained under the emergency laws. Most of them
have been arrested again and again for no reason while others were referred to
emergency and military tribunals, says Brotherhood MP Mohamed El-Beltagui.

We feel that such long continuation of emergency and its further extension are
extremely anti-people and unwise steps for Egypt. Such emergency benefits only
the ruling class and stifles stabilization of democracy. Unfortunately such
countries and rulers are best friends of western powers.So-called national
interest of big powers are the basis of such support whatever it may mean for
people of the countries under such dictators or kings .There is no short-cut
out of this. Long struggle awaits the people of these countries.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Volume 1, Book 3, Number 74

2008-06-06 Thread Sahih Al-Bukhari
Volume 1, Book 3, Number 74: Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: That he differed with
Hur bin Qais bin Hisn Al-Fazari regarding the companion of (the Prophet) Moses.
Ibn 'Abbas said that he was Khadir. Meanwhile, Ubai bin Ka'b passed by them and
Ibn 'Abbas called him, saying My friend (Hur) and I have differed regarding
Moses' companion whom Moses, asked the way to meet. Have you heard the Prophet
mentioning something about him? He said, Yes. I heard Allah's Apostle saying,
While Moses was sitting in the company of some Israelites, a man came and
asked him. Do you know anyone who is more learned than you? Moses replied:
No. So Allah sent the Divine Inspiration to Moses: 'Yes, Our slave Khadir (is
more learned than you.)' Moses asked (Allah) how to meet him (Khadir). So Allah
made the fish as a sign for him and he was told that when the fish was lost, he
should return (to the place where he had lost it) and there he would meet him
(Al-Khadir). So Moses went on looking for the
sign of the fish in the sea. The servant-boy of Moses said to him: Do you
remember when we betook ourselves to the rock, I indeed forgot the fish, none
but Satan made me forget to remember it. On that Moses said: 'That is what we
have been seeking? (18.64) So they went back retracing their foot-steps, and
found Khadir. (And) what happened further to them is narrated in the Holy
Qur'an by Allah. (18.54 up to 18.82)

Bismillah [IslamCity] Re: Missionaries Holy War Against Inslam

2008-06-06 Thread JB
CHET-NUN
Asalamu alaykum.
Do not be afraid of them.
Make dawa, instead.
Here is a small experience in counter-missions:
I went to the public library.
A man and I were at the copy machine at the same time.
He must have intuited that I was poor, because he shared his coins
with me.
I finished my business at the library, and there he was again, as I
was leaving the building.
I pushed myself, even though I felt reluctant, to ask for his advice.
His tee-shirt said: AIR FORCE.
He told me he was a retired pilot.
He was sitting at a table filling out some important looking job papers.
I wanted to make sure he wasn't doing anything dumb, stupid, you
know... dangerous.
I asked if he read his Bible.
He said he did.
Do you read it carefully, thoroughly?
He hesitated, doubtful.
I wanted him to see where to find the great Prophet in that Book.
But he wanted to know about my Islamic dress; he seemed to feel upset
by it.
I sent him back to his Book on morals, and told him how practical it
is, too, to dress as the Bible says.
Some of his initial reactions were ignorant, rejecting.
He may have become violent if I showed him more of my spiritual
treasures. (Qur'an 22:72)
He put up all kinds of mental arguments even before I could point out
the beautiful logic of a unified faith. (Qur'an 3:103)
I saw he was horribly mis-taught, like most of US Baptists and other
sectaries. We are all mostly wrong. (Qur'an 6:159)
But I was able to remain kind, for I saw that the disturbance I caused
in his heart was like soil ready for a potent seed.
I gained the advice I sought by interpreting his attitudes.
Then I gently whispered as I began my retreat:
Mohammed is the Paraclete.
What?! he replied, startled.
Mohammed is really the Paraclete, I said again, just a little louder.
Then I disappeared down the road to al-Jummah.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Turkey's top court decided to annul constitutional amendments that would allow women to wear the Muslim headscarf at Turkish universities.

2008-06-06 Thread S A Hannan
Dear members,

Assalamu Alaikum. This is Turkish secularism. This is a politicla judgement as we
see sometimes in some other countries including mine.

I am sorry to say that this Turkish court doesnot understand anything of
secularism or religious freedom or democracy. As a student of political science
and writer and teacher of political science I can say that hijab in no way is
anti -secular or anti-democratic.This is the highest level of so-called
fundamentalism ultra-secularists are showing in Turkey, France and some other
western countries. But as history shows they will fail and hijab movement will
get stronger around the world because oppression only strengthens the resolve
of people.

Subject: Timeline of headscarf status in Turkey

Timeline of headscarf status in Turkey
March 7, 1989: The Constitutional Court annulled the legislation allowing
the headscarf.

Oct. 25, 1990: A new addition was made to the Higher Education Law,
stating that “freedom of apparel is allowed in institutions of higher education
provided that it does not conflict with other laws.”

July 14, 1992: Mehmet Sağlam was appointed the president of the Higher
Education Board (YÖK). Based on a new addition to the Higher Education Law, he
did not apply the headscarf ban to the universities.

Dec. 6, 1995: Kemal Gürüz became the president of YÖK. He revised the
policy and enforced a strict ban on the headscarf based on the top court’s
interpretation in 1989.

Aug. 28, 2007: The draft constitution was prepared by a committee of six
legal experts. The committee proposed two alternatives to eliminate the ban.
The first stated that “nobody can be denied the right to education based on
clothing or dress codes.” The second stated that “there is freedom of dress in
institutions of higher education.”

Sept. 17, 2007: Top AK Party leaders reviewed the draft constitution and
decided to go ahead with the first proposal on the headscarf.

Dec. 13, 2007: MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli proposed an amendment to Article
10 of the Constitution as a way to lift the ban.

Jan. 14, 2008: Prime Minister Erdoğan, while on a visit to Spain, said:
“Even if the headscarf is a political symbol as its critics charge, how can you
accept this as a crime? Can you ban symbols? Where in the world is there such a
ban from the viewpoint of freedoms?”

Jan. 15, 2008: Commenting on the PM’s remarks in Spain, Bahçeli asked for
social consensus to solve the headscarf problem.

Jan. 16, 2008: Upon his return from Spain, Erdoğan called opposition
parties to action on the headscarf issue, saying: “Let us not wait for a new
constitution. This is very easy to solve. The MHP is in. Forget the [Republican
People’s Party] CHP.”

Jan. 17, 2008: MHP leader Bahçeli put the party’s proposal in writing and
shared it with the AK Party.

Jan. 23, 2008: AK Party presented its counterproposal to the MHP.

Jan. 24, 2008: The AK Party and MHP reached a compromise, deciding to
change articles 10 and 42 of the Constitution.

Jan. 25, 2008: A scheduled summit between the AK Party and MHP was
postponed because of concerns over the wording of the amendments.

Jan. 28, 2008: Top party leaders convened again and reached a full
compromise after lengthy discussions.

Feb. 9, 2008: The ban was lifted with the passage of the amendments by 80
percent, or 411, of the deputies in Parliament.

Feb. 22, 2008: President Abdullah Gül ratified the amendments.

Feb. 27, 2008: The CHP and (Democratic Left Party) DSP petitioned the top
court to annul the amendments.

March 11, 2008: The Council of State reversed the order lifting the ban
at universities that was issued by YÖK President Yusuf Ziya Özcan.

June 5, 2008: With a vote of nine to two, Turkey's top court decided to
annul constitutional amendments that would allow women to wear the Muslim
headscarf at Turkish universities.
