Subject: A Month of Muslims (deadline July 17th)
Azizah Magazine is sponsoring a project in support of Muslim owned businesses
and services. We are spearheading an initiative that requires your
participation and we want to raise our consciousness about the importance of
supporting Muslim businesses and institutions. This program, A Month of
Muslims, asks you to spend your dollars supporting Muslim establishments for 30
days. In August 2008, purchase your gas from a Muslim-owned gas station. Buy
food from a Muslim-owned grocer. Seek out a Muslim doctor, accountant, or
mechanic for your necessary services. Buy a Muslim newspaper, DVD or magazine.
Order a book from an online Muslim bookstore. Let’s build and strengthen our
community by spending our dollars in the ummah.
We are looking for Muslim consumers from around the country to keep a journal
of their experiences during this program. We would like to know how easy or
difficult, enjoyable or frustrating it was. The top ten most remarkable
journals will be featured in Azizah Magazine. The winners will receive
participation prizes from select Muslim businesses. This is a great opportunity
to learn more about the services and products that are offered by Muslim
community and to show your support for them. Selected journals will be featured

Bismillah [IslamCity] Skewed Media Approach to Terrorism

2008-06-28 Thread Abhiyya
"My point is simple: we need an even-handed approach in discussing (and dealing
with) 'terrorism'. Turning a blind eye to one form of it, just because it
claims to speak for the majority of Indians, can only make the situation even
more precarious for all of us."

  Skewed Media Approach To Terrorism
  By Yoginder Sikand
  20 June, 2008
http://countercurrents.org/sikand200608.htm
The arrest of some activists associated with the
Sanatan Sanstha, a radical Hindu group, for planting
bombs in theatres in two towns in Maharashtra
recently, has barely been given any attention in the
Indian media. Had the men behind these planned attacks
been Muslims, obviously the Indian media would have
reacted very differently-furiously, fervently. This
clearly shows the sharply skewed manner in which the
debate on 'terrorism' is being conducted. That the
routine killings of Muslims, such as in pogroms
orchestrated by Hindu groups, are never attributed by
the media to Hindu 'terrorists' but simply to faceless
and nameless 'emotionally charged mobs' is yet another
illustration of this greatly skewed perspective.
Bomb attacks that have occurred in numerous Indian
cities in recent years are, without proper or full
investigation, somehow automatically assumed to be the
handiwork of Muslims. But, as the attacks that the
Sanatan Sanstha volunteers had planned, as also the
earlier attack planned by members of the Bajrang Dal,
also in Maharashtra, clearly show, the range of those
who might be behind the wave of bomb attacks in the
country has to be expanded some Muslim ultras to
include their Hindu counterparts as well, who have
obviously have a vested interested in promoting
communal clashes and thereby consolidating Hindu
votes. And, in addition, as numerous Urdu papers have
been repeatedly suggesting, the possible role of other
forces, such as the Israeli and American secret
services, behind some of these attacks must also be
investigated, for, clearly, these attacks aim at
further dividing Hindus and Muslims and thereby
promoting inflaming anti-Muslim passions in the
country, something that Israel and the
neo-conservatives in America would probably warmly
welcome as it would force India to enter more tightly
into their deadly embrace.
Yet another clear instance of the completely warped
way in which the Indian media and policy-making
circles discuss terrorism is evident from their
reaction to Shiv Sena supreme Bal Thackeray's recent
pronouncement calling for Hindus to set up killer
suicide squads. The 'mainstream' media is not branding
him a 'terrorist' for this, although he openly
advocates terrorism, and nor will the state take any
action against him under the draconian anti-terrorist
laws that it has framed. Imagine if a Muslim leader
had issued a similar call. That would have hit the
headlines for well over a week and would have led to
numerous arrests, but Thackeray's outpourings merit
just a corner in the middle pages of our 'national'
newspapers.
My point is simple: we need an even-handed approach in
discussing (and dealing with) 'terrorism'. Turning a
blind eye to one form of it, just because it claims to
speak for the majority of Indians, can only make the
situation even more precarious for all of us. And,
although of late most religious leaders have begun to
depress me no end, here I take inspiration from an
essay I recently read by an Indian Muslim cleric whose
passion for the welfare of his country, irrespective
of religion, is something that every Hindu, Muslim or
other sort of Indian could certainly emulate, and
whose approach, if seriously adopted, could go a long
way in countering all forms of terrorism, be it by
radical Hindus or Muslims or others or by the state
itself..
A recently reprinted Urdu booklet, titled 'Hamara
Hindustan Aur Uske Fazail' ('Our India and Its
Glories'), contains a brilliant essay o by the late
Maulana Syed Muhammad Miyan, who served for many
years, before and after 1947, as the general secretary
of the Jamiat ul-Ulema-e Hind, a leading body of
Indian maulvis primarily associated with the Deobandi
school of thought (It is the same organization that
vehemently opposed the Partition of India and that, in
recent months, has organized literally dozens of
public rallies against terrorism). The essay was first
published sometime in the early 1940s in order to
oppose the Muslim League's demand for a separate
Muslim state and to counter the claim of many Hindus
leaders that Indian nationalism was necessarily
synonymous with Brahminical Hinduism.
Miyan's essay, titled 'Sarzamin-i Hindustan Ke Fazail'
('The Blessings of India'), argues that Muslims are
bound to 'love' and 'serve' India primarily because
Islam commands them to do so. Miyan claims that India
has been accorded a special status by God Himself.
Hence, he argues, Muslims are required by their faith
to work for India's unity and welfare.

Miyan's's thesis is based on an Arabic text written by
the eighteenth century nort

Assalamu-alaikum wa-rahmatullahi wa-barakatahu

May this mail find you in the best of health and Imaan.

A little help is needed from brothers and sisters in Islam. My family has been
looking for a suitable Salafi match for my sister for quite some time, but as
per Allah's will there has not been any success [Qadar Allahu wama sha'a
fa'ala].

We are basically from Uttar Pradesh [India] but settled in Muscat [Oman].
Alhamdulillah we have been guided by Allah sub-hanahu wa ta'ala to the right
path and we have been following the manhaj of Salaf. My sister is 25 years old.
She is religious [Alhamdulillah] and tries to live life according to Shariah
based on Quran and Saheeh Hadeeth. She has done Masters in Engineering.

Our preference is a Salafi boy practices Islam with utter devotion, who lives
life seeking His pleasure and who has good knowledge of Shariah. He should be
confident and not shy of being a pious Muslim. The degree of qualification does
not matter, but he should have a decent job, earning halaal and enough for the
living. Preferably settled in Gulf.

If anyone is interested, then kindly contact at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Jazakallah Khair

U.S. Muslims Again Seek Visa Denial for Gujarat Massacre Figure

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 6/19/2008) - The Council on American-Islamic Relations
(CAIR) today sent a letter to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice asking that
an Indian official accused of complicity in the massacre of Muslim civilians in
that nation again be denied a visa to travel to the U.S.

Recent news reports indicate that supporters of Narendra Modi, chief minister
of India's state of Gujarat, hope to have him attend the upcoming second World
Gujarati Conference in Edison, N.J., on August 29-31, 2008.

Following anti-Muslim riots in 2002 that left more than 1000 civilians dead,
senior officials in Gujarat said they had been directed by Modi to allow the
massacres to run their course. Modi allegedly called the riots "anticipated
Hindu reaction" and "a natural outpouring." Modi's administration has in the
past distributed a social studies textbook praising Adolf Hitler.

The Washington Post has reported: "Human rights investigators found that the
anti-Muslim violence had been encouraged and in some cases assisted by [Modi's]
government." (4/19/04) A citizens panel, which included retired Indian Supreme
Court judges, said the anti-Muslim rioters had acted "with the deliberate
connivance and support" of the Gujarat state government. (Washington Post,
12/16/02)

In 2005, CAIR partnered with the Indian Muslim Council-USA and the Coalition
Against Genocide (CAG) to oppose Modi's visa request to travel to the U.S. to
speak at a convention in Florida. His request for a visa was denied.

In a letter to Secretary Rice, CAIR National Board Chairman Parvez Ahmed wrote
in part:

"If a visa application is made for Chief Minister Modi, we request that it be
denied on grounds similar to the Department of State's visa denial in early
2005. Specifically, we request that if Modi requests a visa he be ruled
inadmissible to the United States based on Section 604 of the International
Religious Freedom Act, which bars entry to any foreign official who has engaged
in 'particularly severe violations of religious freedom.'"

CAIR, America's largest Islamic civil liberties group, has 35 offices and
chapters nationwide and in Canada. Its mission is to enhance the understanding
of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American
Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding

PATIENCE IN AFFLICTION AND CALAMITY
Translation From Madarij-Us-Salikeen By Imam Ibnul Qayyim

A servant of Allah must strive to attain patience when tried or afflicted at
the hands of oppressors, and also when coping with natural calamity. And by
three means should one seek divine help to sustain it.

FIRST, ANTICIPATE THE GOODLY REWARD OF CALAMITY.
The more solemn and certain is one's focus on the Heavenly reward of patience
and faith in one's affliction, the lighter the calamity becomes-just as when
one looks forward to the plenitude of an expected recompense or salary for
one's work, the burden of one's labor grows easier. Were this not the case,
were no one to put forth effort for a future whose reward is not already in
hand, the affairs of this world would grind to a halt. The nafs, of self, is
shortsighted, looking only for what is immediate. It is a characteristic of
the intellect, or aql, however, to anticipate consequences and plan ahead to
accomplish goals.

The wise of all nations agree that luxuries cannot be obtained by indulging in
luxuries. One who opts for comfort at a time of hard work faces hard luck at
the time of reaping comfort. The more diligently one works, the better the
reward.

The point is that observing anticipating, and being certain of goodly reward in
the future sustains patience. And being patient when things are difficult
means both endurance in things that are beyond one's control and perseverance
in deeds that are within one's control.

SECOND, ANTICIPATE THE EASE AFTER DIFFICULTY
Expecting relief after hardship lightens the encumbrance of calamity –
especially if one's hope is strong and one recognizes that comfort after
calamity is certain. A servant of God finds, even in the midst of trials and
tribulations, a ray of hope and a breeze of comfort, and this subtle
anticipation alone itself becomes a comfort to him. These are the moments when
one grasps the meaning of God's name, Al-Lateef (the Kind, the Gentle, but also
the Knower of subtleties).

THIRD, PERCEIVE THE INSIGNIFICANCE OF THE CALAMITY.
One realizes the true triviality of calamity by two means:

1. By recounting the copious blessings and benefits bestowed
by Allah upon one. For when the servant recognizes that he is incapable of
counting or encompassing them on account of their sheer plenitude and
magnitude, his calamities appear minute to him by comparison. Thus one
realizes that measured against the blessings of God that one enjoys, one's
calamities are like a drop in the ocean.
2. By recalling the immense blessings of Allah bestowed upon
one in the past, and using this as a means to the realization that the goodly
reward (that accompanies patience over calamities) is great, indeed. Hence,
one is to dwell on the delight of the coming reward and wait with excitement
for its arrival in the near future, both in this world and (with bliss) in the
Hereafter.

It is reported that there once was a pious woman given to much worship who
stumbled, fell and severed her finger completely. Yet she (neither cried nor
screamed) but laughed. Someone asked her why she laughed, and she said: "Let
me respond to you according to the extent of your understanding. The sweetness
of the reward that I anticipate because of it made me forget the bitterness of
its loss".

By the "extent of your understanding," she meant that the questioner's
spiritual awareness was limited to the overt. Otherwise, he would have seen
–not merely the suffering she experienced – but rather the One who caused the
suffering, His wisdom in choosing this suffering for her, how graciously He
granted to her the joy of gratitude to Him, the pleasure of being pleased with
Him in all things, and the high praise and spontaneous gratefulness that came
out of her loss.

PATIENCE, AGAIN IN THREE KINDS
Sabr can be looked at in three grades: Patience 'by' God (sabr billah) –
namely, that in which a servant seeks God's help for other purposes, patience
'for' God (sabr lillah), and finally, patience 'with' God's commandments (sabr
ala ahkamih). The first is patience driven by hope in God's reward, fear of
His chastisement, and desire for God. A person exercising this kind of
patience does not see himself as having patience within him. Nor does he see
himself as capable of it (on his own). But his state is one of having attained
the realization of the phrase: There is neither capacity nor power save 'by
God'. Thus, his is a state of knowledge, awareness, and embodiment (of this
virtue).

Patience 'for' God is of a higher status than patience 'by' G

Historic Cedar Rapids mosque loses prized artifacts

By JESSIE HALLADAY
Register Correspondent
Cedar Rapids, Ia. — Imam Taha Tawil slipped off his muddy shoes and padded
across the cream-colored carpet marred by someone else's muddy footprints.

He turned to the northeast and began to pray.

Below him, in the basement of the Mother Mosque of America, are the soggy
heirlooms of the oldest mosque in America, which were destroyed when
floodwaters entered the building last week.

Tawil, the mosque's spiritual leader, finally saw the destruction Monday, when
the National Guard allowed access to the quiet residential neighborhood on
Ninth Street Northwest.
"It's just amazing how God is great when he wishes to do something," Tawil
said. "It's amazing while at the same time devastating. Maybe something good
will come out of it. We never know the meaning behind it."

Water didn't reach the main floor of the mosque, sparing the prayer room that
just underwent a $55,000 renovation.

But below, in the space where the mosque holds community meetings and teaches
school groups, there was total destruction. Dozens of videotapes with the oral
histories of Arabs who have come to Iowa lie waterlogged. Mud covers prayer
rugs and books. Ceiling tiles have collapsed, and tables have warped.

Tawil was overcome with the grief of what was lost. As he began to cry, he
commented on the many mosque members who served this country in the military
and have called America home.

"This is their mosque," Tawil said. "This is where they gathered to help each
other get to the next generation."

Arabs, both of Muslim and Christian faith, came to Iowa in the early 1900s,
Tawil said. Though at first they prayed in homes throughout the community, they
eventually began working together to build houses of worship.
By 1925, the Muslim Arabs began raising money to build a mosque - mostly by
holding fundraisers where they sold Middle Eastern food, Tawil said. Over the
next few years, members volunteered to build.

It was finally dedicated and opened on Feb. 15, 1934.

Muslims from around the state and country traveled to worship at the mosque,
Tawil said.

"It became symbolic of Mecca because there was no mosque in the area," he said.

It would serve as the main place of worship until 1971, when a bigger Islamic
Center was opened in town.
The building on Ninth Street was sold — used over the years as a teen center
and a Pentecostal church before being abandoned.

It was purchased by the Islamic Council of Iowa and renovated, reopening again
in 1992.

Now, Tawil wonders whether the building can be saved. Everything rests on
whether or not the foundation is solid, something Tawil won't know until an
engineer is able to check it.

But if they can stay, Tawil said volunteers are ready.

Bismillah [IslamCity] antislam: usa - TV show epitomises anti-Arab feelings

Commentary
TV show epitomizes anti-Arab feelings
By Linda S. Heard Online Journal Contributing Writer
Jun 6, 2008

Recently broadcast on MBC4 were three episodes of the Dr Phil show that
initially aired in the US last November. They featured Katherine Lester, a
pretty 18-year-old American woman who traveled to the West Bank to be with
Abdullah, a 22-year-old Palestinian man she "met" on the Internet when she was
16. This was the second time that Katherine had flown to the Middle East to
see the young man; on the first occasion, in response to her family's
objections, she got as far as Amman, Jordan, before being picked up by the FBI
as a minor and escorted home.

The first episode showed videos of the star-crossed youngsters in Jericho
holding hands and staring lovingly into one another's eyes declaring they
wanted to marry much to the horror of Katherine's mother and sister, who
shared the stage with Dr Phil.

The mother said she feared the boy had brainwashed her daughter or was keeping
her from going home against her will. Dr Phil made a meal of the fact
Katherine's life could be in danger in the Middle East and said he would do
everything in his power to get her away from him and back with her mother. And
he did.

When Katherine joined the show alone via satellite he treated her like someone
who had been kidnapped even though she protested her happiness and told him
she intended returning to the US very soon.

Later, when Abdullah joined her, Dr Phil berated him for disrespecting her
parents, criticized his parents for sending Katherine an air ticket, and
repeatedly asked him why he hadn't been to the US embassy to request a visa
for the United States.

He then badgered the girl to return to the safe arms of Uncle Sam on the
coming Friday and insisted he would send an escort so that she could fly from
Tel Aviv airport. It was evident Katherine didn't want to leave and, in fact,
the Dr Phil show bought several tickets home and sent several escorts before
she finally agreed, only to arrive home to discover her mother and sister
hadn't bothered to turn up at the airport to greet her.

The last episode was the most offensive. This time Abdullah was on his own in
the West Bank studio, while Katherine was on the stage. Again, on Dr Phil's
repeated say-so she told a shocked Abdullah that their relationship was over
and depicted him as a possessive stalker, causing him to remove his earpiece
and walk off only to return a little later to ask why.

On Dr Phil's prodding, Katherine admitted with a wry smile that she had met
someone else. "An American," said the ecstatic Dr Phil enjoying this
hallelujah moment to the full. After all, he had saved this cute American
princess from the evil machinations of a Palestinian, who wanted her for
goodness only knows what nefarious purpose, and the audience loved every
second. One of their own had been brought home.

No understanding

There was no understanding of exceeding difficulties Palestinians encounter to
get a US visa that would first entail Abdullah getting a permit to travel to
occupied Jerusalem where the nearest American consulate is sited. And there
was no explanation that the only threat to the girl's life while she stayed in
the West Bank was from Israeli attacks.

It was clear that Dr Phil was clueless. We were told that the couple were in
Jericho on the West Bank, yet on several occasions he mentioned Katherine's
flight from Gaza.

It's certainly true that nobody really wants their 18-year-old daughter to
take off into the unknown on an emotional roller-coaster, and I can understand
her mother's concerns, but, what I found objectionable about the show was the
way Dr Phil stressed that Abdullah was an Arab, presenting Palestinians and
this region in a negative light.

He even went so far as inviting Betty Mahmoody. author of the book Not Without
My Daughter, onto the show so that she could warn Katherine of the dangers of
hooking up with a Middle Easterner. She is still in hiding from her husband
after 25 years, Dr Phil told his audience in an obvious attempt to paint all
Muslim men with the same brush. That could have been you, he scolded
Katherine. No wonder Abdullah thought the pop psychologist made him look like
"a bad guy" even "a terrorist."

Last Sunday, Abdullah had the opportunity to give his side of the story on the
MBC1 chat show Kalam Nawaem, a sort of Arabic version of The View. The female
hosts rounded on him for not properly defending himself or his culture on Dr
Phil, and then he dropped the bombshell. According to him, the pair had
married but Katherine hadn't wanted to admit this on TV.

So the "possessive stalker" Katherine had referred to had actually been her
husband. Congratulations, Dr Phil, for managing to wrest asunder a happy
couple!

The question is would he have done the same if the young man had been called

Bismillah [IslamCity] Blessings of Nafl Prayers

Asalam-u-Alaikum

Blessings of Nafl (non-obligatory) Prayers

Salaat is the most important of all forms of worship. It is, in fact, the
first and foremost item to be reckoned with on the Day of Judgement. The
Prophet (Sallallaho alaihe wasallam) is reported to have said:

"Salaat is the only line of demarcation between Kufr and Islam."

There are many Ahadith about Salaat, which I have collected in a separate
book.

Blessings of Nafl (non-obligatory) Prayers:

The Prophet (Sallallahu alaihe wasallam) reported that Allah told him:

"My wrath descends upon a person who bears ill-will towards My friends.
And only those are blessed with My love who implicitly carry out Fardh
(obligatory) injunctions.

A person keeps on advancing in my esteem through nafl ; till I choose
him as 'My beloved'. I then become his ear by which he listens, his eye by
which he looks, his hands by which he holds, and his feet by which he walks
(i.e. his listening, looking, holding and walking are all in perfect accord
with My injunctions, and he would never even dream of employing any part of
his body in any action contrary to My commands).

If such a person prays for anything, I grant it to him and if he seeks
My protection I do protect him."

Those people are really blessed who, after performing their Fardh, are in
the habit of observing Nafl profusely. May Allah give me and all my friends
the strength to earn this blessing.

Bismillah [IslamCity] A Question to all Atheists [Updated]

2008-06-28 Thread Ahumanb
A Question to all Atheists

According to Muslim belief, this temporal world is a test for the hereafter
(Qur'an 18:7, 67:2, 2:155, 2:214, 29:2-3), and each and every individual will
be judged perfectly according to his/her own deeds and actions (Qur'an 36:54,
4:85, 40:17, 21:47, 36:54, 2:281, 7:29, 16:111, 17:13-15, 20:134-135, 42:24,
4:123) including Prophet Muhammad (Qur'an 11:35, 46:9, 17:73-75). Therefore,
there is not an iota of inhumanity or irrationality in Muslim belief.

No other religion or philosophy, to my knowledge, has the concept of Absolute
Justice. For example, according to Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism,
mass murderer evils like Hitler and Stalin may be reincarnated as Sudra or
lower creature or even plant! This kind of belief or doctrine is the greatest
insult and hatred against Sudras, lower creatures, and plants. No sensible
person can accept this kind of justice. On the other hand, Christians believe
that Jesus died for the sins of the world! If it's really so, then Jesus also
died for the sins of Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao, Bush, Saddam, Modi, and all
those terrorists, rapists, killers, suicide bombers, liars, and hypocrites! I'm
not sure what kind of justice does Judaism preaches.

Anyway, Atheists not only do not believe in Intelligent and Supreme Being
(Creator of the universe) but also preach their belief in the name of logic,
rationality, humanism, and (pseudo) science! But the fact is that, they
directly/indirectly support the actions of Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao, Bush,
Saddam, Modi, and all those terrorists, rapists, killers, liars, and suicide
bombers. They have no other option but justifying the actions of all sorts of
criminal acts. Because, without an Intelligent and Supreme Being, it will never
ever be possible to judge and punish the criminals. And there is no difference
between Hitler and Mother Teresa either! Atheists cannot condemn the actions of
Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao, Bush, Saddam, Modi, rapists, and suicide bombers,
anyway. Because they have no logical and rational basis to condemn these kinds
of evil actions.

Moreover, unlike Theists, Atheists do not have any kind of personal
accountability. For example, if they kill or rape some humans, they do not
believe that they should be judged and punished for their crime. It doesn't
matter whether or not they are killing or raping; but the fact is that, if they
commit such crime, they do not think that they are guilty for their crime. Even
if they feel guilty, just for show, they do not believe that they should be
judged and punished. Therefore, it's clearly seen that Atheism is the greatest
threat for Humanity.

Here is my Question to them:

Do they really believe that people like Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao, Bush,
Saddam, Modi, and all those terrorists, rapists, killers, and suicide bombers
are considered to be criminals, and as such should be judged and punished one
day? If the answer is NO, then they are not only supporter but also promoter of
these kinds of innocent (!) evils. If the answer is YES, then how? They must
come up with solid argument in this case.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Hamas's Wise Step

2008-06-28 Thread Khalid Amayreh

  Hamas's wise step
  [ 20/06/2008 - 12:35 AM ]

Palestinian children play on the beach in Deir al-Balah in the central
Gaza Strip

By Khalid Amayreh in the West Bank

The Egyptian-mediated ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Islamic
Resistance Movement (Hamas) is, ostensibly at least, a wise, dignified and
expedient step for several reasons.

To begin with, the ceasefire deal would suspend the daily acts of murder
and terror carried out by the Israeli occupation forces against the nearly
totally unprotected people of the Gaza Strip.

For years, the Gestapo-like Israeli army used excessive force, including
tanks, warplanes, heavy artillery and other lethal machines of death to wreak
death, havoc and terror on the civilian population of Gaza, resulting in the
murder and maiming of thousands of innocent people.

Thus, the latest arrangement would give the thoroughly tormented Gazans
a certain respite, however uncertain, from Israeli terror and criminality.

Moreover, the arrangement, which is due to go into effect Thursday
morning, is also supposed to lead to the gradual lifting of the 18-month-old
harsh and callous blockade Israel has been imposing on 1.5 million Palestinians
 of the Gaza Strip.

This alone should be viewed as a worthy achievement if only because Gaza
was being decimated by a genocidal siege unprecedented since the Nazi blockade
of Ghetto Warsaw in 1943.

It is therefore hoped that the gradual dissipation of the nefarious
blockade, which really reflects the brutal ugliness of the Zionist mentality,
will allow Gaza to revive and rehabilitate itself and bring a smile back on
the faces of its tormented children and savaged men and women.

Needless to say, the decision by Hamas to accept the ceasefire is a
strong proof that Hamas is not a nihilistic organization, e.g. like al Qaeda,
as Israeli and Zionist hasbara has been trying to portray the
Palestinian-Islamic movement.

In fact, Hamas had always called for a cessation of violence in Gaza
whereby both sides would refrain from targeting innocent civilians. However,
it was always Israel, not Hamas, that rejected such calls by keeping up
murderous attacks on Palestinian civilians.

Israel, especially when addressing western audiences, repeatedly but
mendaciously claimed that its army didn't deliberately target innocent
Palestinians civilians.

However, that fact that hundreds of Palestinian children and other
civilians continued to be killed and maimed throughout the Gaza Strip, and else
where, eviscerated the Israeli pretensions of innocence of any veracity and
credibility. In the final analysis, Israel was not only a brutal murderer, but
a big a liar as well.

After all, killing knowingly is killing deliberately, and when the number
of innocent victims is so high, even intent becomes irrelevant.

There is no doubt that Hamas's heroic steadfastness, resilience and
patience are being vindicated.

Thus, the enduring vigor of Hamas and the people of Gaza, who defied
death and clang to life, should serve as a lesson for the Palestinian people
that steadfastness in the face of brute power eventually pays off.

This is also a lesson for the Fatah-dominated Palestinian Authority (PA)
that the stubbornness of justice can eventually triumph over the arrogance of
oppression.

  Winners and losers

There is no doubt that the forces of peace and reason on all sides have
won against the forces of bellicosity, hatred and terror, especially in
Washington and Tel Aviv and some other regional capitals as well.

The people of Gaza, the victims of American-Israeli criminality, are
undoubtedly the biggest winners of this deal. At least, they can breathe again,
following 18 nightmarish months of unimagined brutality and ruthlessness.

In addition to the gung-ho neocons in Washington and war-drummers in Tel
Aviv who wanted to exterminate Hamas, not a small amount of consternation is
also likely to be permeating now in Ramallah where a Zionized group within
Fatah had been hoping to see the Israeli army overrun Gaza, murder hundreds,
and then hand Gaza over to the Fatah leadership on a silver platter.

On this occasion, one feels prompted to call on Fatah to eject these
traitors from their midst for the sake of Fatah itself and for the sake of
Palestine.

  Vigilance

Non the less, it would be naïve, even stupid, to be carried away or give
Israel the benefit of the doubt by thinking that the Zionist regime is going to
abide by the agreement and terminate its murderous aggressions on our people.

Israel, after all, has repeatedly proven itself to be a venomous snake
which must never be trusted.

Hence, Palestinians, especially Hamas, ought to be constantly vigilant
and ready to repulse any Israeli aggression.
