Deepak Worthy effort: Gatti Anil Kumar with the replica of Makkah Masjid in Visakhapatnam. - Visakhapatnam: A masjid atop a temple of Lord Rama in Visakhapatnam! Sounds unbelievable? Head straight to the Ramalayam at Periki Veedhi near Poorna Market. The first floor of the ancient temple houses a replica of Makkah Masjid, which is considered to be the holiest shrine of Muslims. While the skill of Gatti Anil Kumar in creating the masterpiece is coming in for all-round appreciation, the temple committees gesture in allowing him to use its terrace is being seen by Muslim brethren as a move that helps in narrowing down the cultural divide. The cherished dream of every Muslim is to visit Makkah during his/her lifetime. But not many can afford to visit the holy place spending thousands of rupees. It was this thought that made 26-year-old Anil Kumar create the replica of the grand mosque. Muslims can have a feel of the mosque in all its grandeur and those going there for the first time can have first-hand knowledge of the places of historical and religious importance and make sure that they do not miss them. Eye for detail His in-depth knowledge of the holy shrine and the legends associated with its various structures, apart from his eye for detail in making the model, has earned him the appreciation of Muslim religious leaders. It took two years for Anil Kumar to build the 8 x 10 replica that is 20 high. I have used soft metal and teakwood in making this model. Unlike my earlier model that was made with sand, sawdust and plaster of Paris, this is a permanent one. His father Suryam assisted him by getting details and pictures of the mosque from his friends. His ambition is to shift the present replica to the Haj House in Hyderabad. Exact model I had been to Makkah on five occasions. This is an exact replica of the original structure and I am sure that Saudis would be prepared to pay any amount to airlift the model to their country, says Aziz. Anil cherishes the appreciation of his earlier model by former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. He met Dr. Kalam during his visit to the city for the Presidential Fleet Review. Anil has been making models for nearly a decade now. He considers making the grand mosque as his toughest and most satisfying experience With Regards Abi
Bismillah [IslamCity] Gaza: Anything for a Bath, Anything for Fuel
Gaza: Anything for a Bath, Anything for Fuel Mohammed Omer (IPS) June 18, 2008 GAZA CITY- The girl, about 16, is wandering about Jebaliya refugee camp, picking up anything she thinks can burn. She cannot find enough bits of wood, so she gathers plastic bags, old notebooks and even a pair of broken plastic sandals. I want to heat some water, she said. I want a bath. Not far away, Mohammed Abu Elenin, 23, exhaustion all over his face, prepares for a fourth night outside a gas station to refill his canister. His brother Nour has sat up with him. Earlier he could get half a fill. Now he doesn't know what may come, but waits. Some weeks ago, I managed to get a half cylinder of cooking gas, he says. It lasted just one week. Now we have nothing to cook with. His family, like others, have turned to cooking over makeshift fires. That fills houses with smoke, and it is dangerous. And now firewood too is scarce. Umm Othman, 43, mother of nine, waits like the others. It's become impossible for me to feed and take care of my children and my husband, she says. Her sons are not at home, she has sent them to queue for gas. And amidst all this, come questions who is to blame, Hamas or Israel. I can't stand it, says a woman sharing a crowded taxi on way from Rafah border crossing to Gaza City. There is no gas, and there is no space to make a fire. This is Palestinians' choice, says a man in the taxi. We voted for Hamas, and now we should take the consequences. At once, several passengers turn against him. They accuse him of trying to turn people against the democratically elected Hamas. Another passenger, Mosbah Abu Dayiah, 43, speaks against Hamas. If they can't manage, they should leave the government to others who can. The others turn now against him, and insist they will stand by Hamas. Gaza is on the brink, and Israel is keeping it that way. Israel makes sure Gaza gets just a fraction of its needs of fuel, says Mahmoud al-Khozendar, vice-president of the Petrol Station Owners Association. And when it does come in, the priority is fishermen, bakeries and farmers. But he finds this is doing Hamas little harm. The fact that Israel has created the cooking gas and fuel shortage is actually helping Hamas maintain support, he says. Following the visit by the UN fact-finding mission led by Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Israel has allowed a little more fuel in, says Khozendar. But shortages are being exacerbated now by a diversion of cooking gas to run cars. One taxi driver began running his car on expensive olive oil. He asked his passengers therefore to pay more. And that led to arguments with passengers. I also have a family to feed, he pleaded. He begged the passengers to consider also that his car will be ruined if he uses too much olive oil. In home after home, in street after street, such struggles continue. Abu Dayiah doesn't see it getting any better. The world doesn't care. Family of Palestinian killed by Israeli security guards donates his organs to save six Israelis : SOURCE: RAIN Ma’an - Date: 20 / 06 / 2008 Time: 11:19 Bethlehem - The family of an 18-year-old Palestinian civilian, who died after being shot by Israeli security guards a few weeks ago, have donated his organs to save the lives of six Israelis. Patient A was clinically dead when he was transferred to the intensive care unit in Shiba medical center in Tel Hashomeir. But doctors were unable to resuscitate him. The Hebrew daily newspaper Ma’ariv reported that his family decided to donate his organs to those who needed them, regardless of their race, religion or identity. The National Center for Organ Transplants promised to keep information concerning his identity confidential for the safety of his family who live in the Palestinian Authority area. The families of the recipients were told about the identity of the donor but have also agreed to keep the information confidential, according to the newspaper. On Wednesday evening the Patient A's father had an emotional meeting with the patient who received his son’s heart. Patient A's father described his son as a great person who was loved by everyone. Bismillah [IslamCity] story of Abdullah bin Hathafah
When Abdullah bin hathafah was brought before the emperor of Rome as a prisoner,he gave him a penetrating look and said;'I have a plan'. Abdullah asked him-What is your plan? He replied-I invite you to convert to christanity. If you do so,i will free you and treat you with all due respect. Abdullah answered boldly and resolutely-This is absolutely impossible.I think it is 1000 times better to die than to accept your invitation. Emperor asked-I think you are a brave man.If you accept my invitation,I am even ready to share the rule over my kingdom with you. The shackled prisoner smiled and answered;By Allah! You need not have hopes that i will turn against islam for a moment, even if you give me your kingdom plus the whole of Arabian peninsula. Emperor was enraged and shouted that he would kill him. Abdullah answered calmly-You can do whatever you please. Emperor oredered that he be put to daeth. He instructed that his feet should be fettered and he should be chained.Arrows were to be shot at him so as to pierce his palms. After this was done ,Caesar again invited him to embrace christanity.Abdullah bluntly refused.Next caesar ordered that the arrows should be aimed at his feet.Again he he was invited to embrace christanity.Abdullah refused again. Finally caesar ordered that a huge cauldron of oil be placed on a fire.Caesar ordered that abdullah should be thrown into boiling oil.when he was brought near the oil, abdullah's eyes filled with tears and brimmed over. When caesars men saw this, thay told him that the prisoner was crying.caesar thought it must be due to sheer panic. caesar said-Bring him to me. caesar again invited him to aceept christanity. but Abdullah bin hathafah refused again! Surprised caesar asked-Then why did you cry? Abdullah replied-When i saw tha scene I felt sorry that i had only 1 life.I wished that i had 1000 lives to sacrifice in your boiling couldron for Allah. Caesar was stunned momentarily into silence when he heard this. Finally he said; All right I will release you if you kiss my forehead. Abdullah asked-will you release the other Muslim prisoners as well? Then approaching Caesar he kissed him on his forehead, thinking that it would not be a big price to pay for the release of so many captured muslims. Keeping to his promise,Caesar ordered that the prisoners be given into the custody of Abdullah bin Hathafah. As soon as he got his freedom,he went to umar bin khattab and narrated to him all that happened. Umar was very happy and said-Every muslim owes a duty to Abdullah bin Hathafah and it is compulsory that each of us would kiss his forehead.I will kiss him first.
Bismillah [IslamCity] Review: The eternal present tense
- Forwarded Message Sent: Saturday, 21 June, 2008 4:55:07 PM Subject: Review: The eternal present tense The eternal present tense Tarif Khalidi's new English edition of Islam's sacred book offers valuable perspectives, says Ziauddin Sardar Saturday June 21, 2008 The Guardian Buy The Qur'an: A New Translation at the Guardian bookshop The Qur'an: A New Translation by Tarif Khalidi 530pp, Penguin Classics, £25 We look for two things in any new translation of the Qur'an. How close does it get to communicating the meaning of the original, that inimitable oral text, the very sounds of which move men and women to tears and ecstasy? And does it offer something more: a new perspective, perhaps; or an innovative rendering? Tarif Khalidi, a professor of Islamic studies at the American University of Beirut, scores high on both these criteria. He manages to capture the allusiveness of the text, as well as something of its tone and texture. While being faithful to the original, he succeeds in conveying linguistic shifts, from narrative to mnemonic, sermons to parables. And there is an innovative component: it is the first translation that tries to capture both the rhythms and the structure of the Qur'an. The best way to demonstrate its newness, and how close it is to the original text, is to compare it with an old translation. The translation I have in mind is Khalidi's predecessor in the Penguin Classics: The Koran, translated with notes by NJ Dawood. First published in 1956, Dawood's translation has been republished in numerous editions. It has been a great source of discomfort for Muslims, who see in it deliberate distortions that give the Qur'an violent and sexist overtones. It is the one most non-Muslims cite when they tell me with great conviction what the Qur'an says. The change can be detected with the name of the sacred text itself: we move from Koran, the older anglicised form, to the new Qur'an, which is now accepted as the correct Arabic transliteration and pronunciation of the word. This is not just a trivial matter of linguistics; it signals a shift from the old Orientalist way of presenting the Qur'an in English to a new inclusive way that takes Muslims' appreciation of their sacred text into account. Subtle differences in chapter headings signal significant change. The opening chapter of the Qur'an in Dawood is The Exordium. In Khalidi, and indeed universally among other translations, it is The Opening. Dawood translates Az-Zumar (chapter 39) as The Hordes, suggesting bands of barbarian mobs; Khalidi renders it as The Groups. While Dawood's translation presents the Qur'an as a patriarchal, sexist text, Khalidi brings out the gender-neutral language of the original. A good example is provided by 2:21. In Dawood we read: Men, serve your Lord. In Khalidi, it becomes: O People! Worship your Lord. Dawood's translation of the famous verse 2:25, frequently quoted, is largely responsible for the current misconception that Muslim paradise is full of virgins - despite the fact that the Qur'an explicitly denies any carnal pleasures in paradise. This is because we find men in Dawood's translation in the garden of paradise who are wedded to chaste virgins. Khalidi renders it correctly: In these gardens they have immaculate spouses. The old Penguin translation uses rather obscurantist images throughout to give the impression that the Qur'an is full of demons and witches. For example, in 31:1, Dawood has God swearing by those who cast out demons. Khalidi translates the same verse as: Behold the revelations of the Wise Book. So this translation is a quantum leap ahead of the old Penguin version. But it also has a rather special character. Khalidi is not interested in providing the context of the verses of the Qur'an. We therefore do not always know who the Qur'an is addressing at various junctures or who is speaking to whom in its internal dialogues. Here M Abdel-Haleem' s translation (OUP, £7.99), published in 2004, is more useful. Neither is Khalidi all that concerned with providing the reader with help. Footnotes, for example, would have been useful for occasional explanation of what is happening in a particular passage. Instead, he takes a rather unusual attitude to the Qur'an. It is a bearer of diverse interpretation , he says; and its ambiguities are deliberately designed to stimulate thinking. Let the reader be patient of interpretation and read at will. All that is needed is to approach the text with sympathy. Khalidi wants the reader to enjoy the experience of reading the Qur'an. Of course, he wants to communicate the majesty of its language, the beauty of its style, and the eternal present tense of its grammar. But he also wants the reader to appreciate the Qur'an's unique structure, how the language changes with the subject matter, how it swirls around and makes rhythmic connections. He wishes to show how each of the seven tropes of the
Bismillah [IslamCity] Fw: Author's Life: Sex and the Saudi girl
- Forwarded Message Sent: Friday, 20 June, 2008 3:46:29 PM Subject: B] Author's Life: Sex and the Saudi girl Author's Life: Sex and the Saudi girl The writer who brought chick-lit to Arabia tells about passion behind the veil Lesley Thomas Saudi Arabia has a new minister for women. She’s 25, likes designer labels, lipstick and cars. Rajaa Alsanea is, of course, not in government, for in her country it’s not really the done thing for females to air their opinions. They are not allowed to drive, let alone have employment or voting rights. Alsanea, however, has captured a vast constituency. She is a bestselling author, the only chick-lit one from the Arab world, and as such she has become a sort of spokeswoman for 21st-century Saudi women. Her book, Girls of Riyadh, about to be published in Britain by Fig Tree, tells the stories of four middle-class young women searching for love and just a little bit of fun in a suffocating culture. It’s hardly Jilly Cooper – the references to sex are coy with lots of talk of yearning and disappointment – but with tales of the girls drinking (very small sips of Dom Pérignon) and – gasp – sitting in the driver’s seat of a car, it caused a scandal. This is a country, remember, where a woman might be stoned for kissing a man in public. Alsanea has received death threats by e-mail and many tried to suppress her book. At one point, black market versions of this Arabic version of Sex and the City changed hands for £300. “I didn’t think about breaking any taboos or being a rebel. I wanted to describe how people find ways to get around some of the traditions. Young women I know want to be modern, hip, stylish and fall in love, the same as women everywhere. I was never trying to cause a scandal,” she tells me over tea at the Dorchester hotel in London. Alsanea is modestly and fashionably turned out in expensive, loosely cut jeans, a white fitted jacket and a coordinating white, silken hijab. There are a couple of lightly Wagish touches – a diamond watch with a pink strap, a Gucci bag and a French manicure – but she is a class act. In an American accent she speaks softly, in perfect English with impeccable sentences: “I started writing when I was 18 and I knew I wanted to be a published author. I have been blessed with a very supportive family and we were encouraged to express ourselves.” Her father, who worked for the information ministry in Kuwait, died when she was eight and Alsanea and her five older siblings were raised by her mother in Riyadh: “As I got older, I wanted to write something I would enjoy reading. I just wrote about what I saw around me – what the girls I knew were like.” After her book was eventually published in 2005, young women began to see Alsanea as their mouthpiece: “At one point I was getting 1,000 e-mails a day. Women who were divorced, women who were married in an arranged way and didn’t like their husbands; those who were struggling with their families were reaching out. Girls came up and hugged me and wanted to take pictures with me. All of a sudden I felt it was my duty to take care of these people. “I knew that no one had really written about modern life in Saudi but – perhaps because I was young – I didn’t think it would be sensational.” It’s hard to imagine this smart and beautiful girl ever being naive. Last year she was voted the Arab world’s premier intellectual by Elaph, the online magazine. All her siblings are either physicians or dentists and she is a graduate student in dentistry, arguing that there is no money in being a Saudi writer (I suspect she is an exception to this rule). She was savvy enough not to send her manuscript to the Saudi information ministry, where all books must be vetted before publication. Instead, she got her brother to take it to publishers in more liberal Lebanon. When she didn’t hear from them immediately, she boldly sent her book to her favourite writer, the poet Ghazi al-Gosaibi, a former UK ambassador and now a Saudi government minister: “He is an idol of mine and when he called me to say he liked the book I was, like: call me back in five minutes. I need to freak out.” It was his endorsement that prompted the buzz across the Middle East and the book deal. And it was only then that she let her family read her work. “My brother was worried for me. He asked whether I really wanted to publish it under my own name. He thought it might affect my chances of marriage, that there would be men who wouldn’t want to marry me.” She raises an eyebrow – precisely threaded to Hurleyish perfection – and shrugs: “I just thought, hey, I wouldn’t want to marry them, either. It’s a good way of weeding some out.” Alsanea is no man hater: “A lot of men don’t really stop and think about what life is like for Saudi girls. My brothers were all raised to respect their sisters and their opinions but my book was still a revelation for them. Fathers have been influenced by it and
Bismillah [IslamCity] Tolerance and solidarity through Process of Education
* Tolerance and Solidarity through Process of Education ** * THERE has since been persistent effort to break the barriers of strangeness among peoples and bring about fraternal bonds among religions, races, cultures, ethnicities and civilizations. Based on the premises of unity of God and faith, Islam has invited peoples of all hues and creeds to congregate together to usher in a better tomorrow for everyone. In this spirit of peace and justice, fraternity and affinity, and spirituality and amicability, Islam once again stands ready to remedy the maladies in which the contemporary world is badly entrenched. The balanced growth of the total human personality can be achieved through the process of education. For Muslims, according to the Holy Qur'an, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is the ideal model, (Uswatul hasana). One way of teaching this concept has been to try to live in that sublime image. Believers get accustomed to this norm by emulating the best virtues. The Holy Qur'an and the revered Sunnah thus provide Muslims with a compendium and source of moral truth, which has a definitive and interpretable dimension. Education, teaching and preaching thus furnish one with applicable principles useful in individual and collective life. In defining a believer, the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) said that in general he trusts in God, and in particular he adheres to a religion. Elaborating further, he explained that the believer is one with whom people's lives, belongings, properties and monies are safe. With his gracious conduct, he would provide due protection and care to those who come into his contact and would not cause any harm to them. Human values came from the first man and do not belong to Islam alone. Even a little child has an innate sense of right and wrong, an innate love for truth and mistrust for falsity, and repulsion to cruelty and hatred. This consciousness of justice and love for veracity cannot be a product of the physical self. Justice, truth, righteousness, honesty, love, beauty, mercy and compassion are in essence transcendent values. In every religion, civilization, culture and society, there are appreciable attributes. Islam completes them and therefore, by due recognition of others, it contributes and improves over them. The Islamic approach to world peace is through the belief and establishment of the unity of all human beings. Another is through acknowledging all the Prophets of Allah and heeding their teachings, which boil down to the same message, i.e., the unity of the Almighty and faith in His injunctions. There are the two fundamental dimensions of Islam, i.e. moral excellence and global peace. In theory as well as in practice, Islam is the religion of tolerance, justice and coexistence. It does not compel people into its folds, as there is no compulsion in religion. Muslims treat others at equal footing and do not discriminate against them because of their color, creed, origin, status, race or language. But they also expect others to reciprocate likewise, as a matter of spiritual congeniality. One should carefully note the ethics of peace, justice, cooperation, and tolerance in Islam. These aspects of harmony, in their various manifestations are alone what Islam desires on the face of the Earth. It harbors no ill will towards anybody and has no ulterior motives against anyone. It does not approve of aggression, offense, violence and arrogance; but at the same time it wants to secure itself. Anyone taking your land, persecuting you, killing your fellow Muslims, killing human beings generally, in that case, you have to act, defend the oppressed, the weak and the innocent. Similarly, when anyone is interfering in their way of life and their sovereignty, forcing injustices on them, Muslims have to fight for their cause. In Islam, the ethics of war prohibit the killing of civilians, women, children, priests and animals. It also interdicts torture, mutilation, cruelty, maltreatment or other inhuman perpetrations. Cutting trees, ruining property, destroying crops and food, poisoning water, or other scorched-earth measures are shunned. In fact, many current humanitarian provisions ought to be improved in the light of Islamic proprieties. Like any other religion, Islam can be and should be judged only by its principles and the conduct of those who are the embodiments of them. Those who have gone astray represent neither the religion of Islam nor the community of the faithful. Peace and solidarity should be the goal of every religion, so that justice and harmony may be brought back among nations and the planet may bloom with the flowers of amicability and fraternity. Let people forget their petty differences, revert to the essence of religion and rediscover the interrelationship between the spiritual, moral, intellectual, emotional and physical aspects of human existence. All the religious communities have to work jointly and unitedly for the promotion of human

Bismillah [IslamCity] Touchy Story
May this story inspire you in any way! I was born in a secluded village on a mountain. Day by day, my parents plowed the yellow dry soil with their backs towards the sky. I have a brother who is 3 years younger than me. I wanted to buy a handkerchief, which all girls around me seemed to have. So, one day I stole 50 cents from my father's drawer. Father had discovered about the stolen money right away. He made me and my younger brother kneel against the wall as he held a bamboo stick in his hand. Who stole the money? he asked. I was stunned, too afraid to talk. Neither of us admitted to the fault, so he said, Fine, if nobody wants to admit, you two should be beaten! He lifted up the bamboo stick. Suddenly, my younger brother gripped father's hand and said, Dad, I was the one who did it! The long stick smacked my brother's back repeatedly. Father was so angry that he kept on whipping my brother until he lost his breath. After that, he sat down on our stone bed and scolded my brother, You have learned to steal from your own house now. What other embarrassing things will you be possibly doing in the future? You should be beaten to death, you shameless thief! That night, my mother and I hugged my brother. His body was full of wounds from the beating but he never shed a single tear. In the middle of the night, all of sudden, I cried out loudly. My brother covered my mouth with his little hand and said, Sis, now don't cry anymore. Everything has happened. I still hate myself for not having enough courage to admit what I did. Years gone by, but the incident still seemed like it just happened yesterday. I will never forget my brother's ___expression when he protected me. That year, my brother was 8 years old and I was 11 years old. When my brother was in his last year of secondary school, he was accepted in an upper secondary school in the central. At the same time, I was accepted into a university in the province. That night, father squatted in the yard, smoking, packet by packet. I could hear him ask my mother, Both of our children, they have good results? very good results? Mother wiped off her tears and sighed, What is the use? How can we possibly finance both of them? At that time, my brother walked out, he stood in front of father and said,Dad, I don't want to continue my study anymore, I have read enough books. Father swung his hand and slapped my brother on his face. Why do you have a spirit so damn weak? Even if it means I have to beg for money on the streets, I will send you two to school until you have both finished your study! And then, he started to knock on every house in the village to borrow money. I stuck out my hand as gently as I can to my brother's swollen face, and told him, A boy has to continue his study; If not, he will not be able to overcome this poverty we are experiencing. I, on the other hand, had decided not to further my study at the university. Nobody knew that on the next day, before dawn, my brother left the house with a few pieces of worn-out clothes and a few dry beans. He sneaked to my side of the bed and left a note on my pillow; Sis, getting into a university is not easy. I will go find a job and I will send money to you. I held the note while sitting on my bed, and cried until I lost my voice. That year, my brother was 17 years old; I was 20 years old. With the money father borrowed from the whole village, and the money my brother earned from carrying cement on his back at a construction site, finally, I managed to get to the third year of my study in the university. One day, while I was studying in my room, my roommate came in and told me,There's a villager waiting for you outside! Why would there be a villager looking for me? I walked out, and I saw my brother from afar. His whole body was covered with dirt, dust, cement and sand. I asked him, Why did you not tell my roommate that you are my brother? He replied with a smile, Look at my appearance. What will they think if they would know that I am your brother? Won't they laugh at you? I felt so touched, and tears filled my eyes. I swept away dirt and dust from my brother's body. And told him with a lump in my throat, I don't care what people would say! You are my brother no matter what your appearance is? From his pocket, he took out a butterfly hair clip. He put it on my hair and said, I saw all the girls in town are wearing it. So, I think you should also have one. I could not hold back myself anymore. I pulled my brother into my arms and cried. That year, my brother was 20 years old; I was 23 years old. I noticed that the broken window was repaired the first time I brought my boyfriend home. The house was scrubbed cleaned. After my boyfriend left, I danced like a little girl in front of my mother, Mom, you didn't have to spend so much time cleaning the house! But she told me with a smile, It was

Bismillah [IslamCity] Palestine popular conference and two petitions to sign
(Arabic below; please forward)The walls of silence, hatred, and pettiness are crumpling all around us. The hot winds of wars dissipate as they encounter the rooted resilience of the spirit of community. People who act on their good conscience are standing up everywhere to make a better future. It is great to be living at this historic time of dramatic change as power shifts from colonizers to colonized and from the few to the many. There are a number of conferences this summer that are relevant and that we will attend including the Ramallah Federation Convention (Detroit, July 4th), the Green Party Convention (Chicago, July 10), and the National Assembly against the War in Cleveland (next week). But especially exciting is the the last conference I will attend before moving to Palestine: the popular conference in Chicago, IL, August 8-10 (see registration info below). This is because it is not organized by a single group/political strand of thought but a grass root effort focused on productive team work. Over 20 workshops from participants ensure engagement as activists (not spectators or pupils to be talked to) and collective and inclusive decision making. Hundreds of younger open-minded individuals are taking matters into their own hands and deciding that their voices will not be silenced by self-appointed leaders. Just like the two young women in the Hijab who refused to be told not to sit on the stage behind Senator Obama, these activists are saying: no one can tell us where to sit and what to do. This strengthens our hope in the future of Arab Americans, all Americans, and all of humanity. Anyway, I hope to see ALL (even those skeptics) join and participate in inclusive events that advance activism for justice. After all, as Kahlil Gibran once wrote (and John F Kennedy later used in a speech): ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country. Here are two petitions to sign and the info to register/attend the Chicago Palestine Popular Conference.ACTION 1: Sign Petition in support of Rima Sinclair Barakat who is running for office and has received significant attacks from racists and bigots.
