Bismillah [IslamCity] Pakistan politics-JI calls for Musharraf's impeachment

2008-08-14 Thread S A Hannan

   JI calls for Musharraf's impeachment
LAHORE, Aug 11: Jamaat-e-Islami secretary-general Syed Munawar Hasan
has said that the safe passage to Pervez Musharraf after his confession of
committing heinous crimes would be nothing short of utmost renegade with the
nation.

"He should be brought to books through the competent court of law. His
name should be placed on the ECL so that a national criminal is not allowed to
flee the country using his international linkages."

These views were expressed by the Jamaat leader while talking to various
delegations here at the party headquarters Mansoorah on Monday.

Syed Munawar Hassan enumerated long list of the crimes which Pervez
Musharraf committed during his rule in Pakistan. He pointed out that Musharraf
own book "In the line of fire" is an open testimony of his follies which made
the people and the country suffer to great deal. "He had obtained kickbacks in
handing over innocent people to America after arresting them and without
following the due course of law."

His major crime also include the military operation against Jamia Hafsa
in which hundreds of innocent girls and tender age boys were burnt alive when
the army used Phosphorus bombs and other chemical weapons against them. His
onslaught against the independent judiciary also brought a bad name to the
country when he appointed his handpicked judges by dislodging the competent and
senior judges who refused to bow before his PCO. Syed Sahib went on to say that
General Musharraf ruthless use of military forced a remote province Balochistan
on the verge of collapse and promoted sense of insecurity in the federation of
Pakistan.

Referring to General Pervez Musharraf humiliation towards the national
hero Dr Abdul Qadir Khan the JI leader said Musharraf did all this to save his
own skin and made Dr Qadir a scapegoat. He was of the view that those who speak
about giving the Pervez Musharraf safe passage are not loyal to their nation
and the country.

He demanded the restoration of deposed judges and open trial of General
Pervez Musharraf in the court of law. The exemplary punishment will serve as
deterrence to prospective military dictators and they would abstain from
abrogating the constitution of Pakistan.

Syed Munawar Hassan said the rank and file of King's party Muslim League
(Q) and MQM are extending he Indian and American agenda through their support
to Pervez Musharraf. They have committed wrong to the whole nation by
supporting General Musharraf as they reaped personal favor against this
support. The entire nation is demanding impeachment of Musharraf and the
national looters and plunders are out to save Pervez Musharraf.

He demanded that the MQM should be expelled from the Sindh cabinet and
those who were responsible for the last year may 12 events should be tried. (#)

The women in Roqaya Al Ghasara's home town in Bahrain are so proud of their
pioneering Olympic sprinter that some of them got together to design and sew a
set of tailor-made aerodynamic veils for her to run in.

Egyptian fencer Shaimaa El Gammal, a third-timer at the Olympics, will don
Islamic headgear in Beijing for the first time. She says it is a sign she is
come of age and she feels more empowered than ever.

This year's Games will see a sizable sprinkling of veiled athletes who are
determined to avoid offending devout Muslims back home while showing skimpily
dressed rivals there is nothing constricting about wearing a hijab.

Two of them, Bahrain's Al Ghasara and veiled Iranian rower Homa Hosseini, won
the honor of being flag bearers for their countries at the opening ceremony's
parade of athletes.

"The hijab has never been a problem for me. In Bahrain you grow up with it,"
said Al Ghasara, wearing a white baseball cap over a black veil that covers her
hair and neck. Her baggy running gear exposes only her face and hands.

"There are more women in sport all the time from countries like Qatar and
Kuwait. You can choose to wear the hijab or not. For me it's liberating," added
Al Ghasara, whose close-fitting running veils come in red or white, the
Bahraini colors.

Proud to be Muslim

This year an unprecedented half a dozen Egyptian athletes, three Iranians, an
Afghan and a Yemeni will compete with covered heads like Al Ghasara. They say
they want to inspire other women in their countries to break away from Muslim
stereotypes.

"People see us wearing the scarf and think we ride camels. But Muslim women can
do anything they want," said El Gammal, a bubbly 28-year-old whose sister will
compete in the same event, also wearing Islamic head cover.

"When I fence I'm proud that I'm a Muslim. It's very symbolic for women in my
country," El Gammal told Reuters.

Beijing's athletes' village has laid on halal food for the hundreds of Muslims
staying there, but it only has a mosque for men, despite scores of Muslim
women, mostly bare-headed, from countries such as Tunisia, Iran and Pakistan.

The Gulf nations of United Arab Emirates and Oman have sent women athletes to
the 2008 Olympics for the first time. Three Iranian women, in headscarves, will
compete in rowing, taekwondo and archery. Afghanistan has veiled sprinter
Robina Muqimyar running the 100 meters.

Bismillah [IslamCity] The month of Sha'baan

2008-08-14 Thread Shahid

The month of Sha'baan

Sha'baan is the name of the (eighth) month, and it is so called because in this
month the Arabs used to disperse (tasha''aba) in search of water, or it was
said that they dispersed to carry out raids and forays. Or it was said that it
is so called because it sha'aba (branches out or emerges) i.e., it appears
between the months of Rajab and Ramadaan. The plural forms of the word Sha'baan
are Sha'baanaat and Sha'aabeen.

Fasting in Sha'baan

'Aa'ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said: "The Messenger (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to fast until we thought he would never
break his fast, and not fast until we thought he would never fast. I never saw
the Messenger of Allaah fasting for an entire month except in Ramadaan, and I
never saw him fast more than he did in Sha'baan." (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, no.
1833; Muslim, no. 1956).

According to a report narrated by Muslim (no. 1957), "He used to fast all of
Sha'baan, he used to fast all but a little of Sha'baan."

A group of scholars, including Ibn al-Mubaarak and others, thought that the
Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not fast all of
Sha'baan, but he fasted most of it. This is supported by a report in Saheeh
Muslim (no. 1954) narrated from 'Aa'ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her), who
said: "I never knew of him - meaning the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah
be upon him) - fasting for any entire month apart from Ramadaan." According to
another report also narrated by Muslim (no. 1955), 'Aa'ishah said: "I never saw
him fast for any entire month from the time he came to Madeenah, apart from
Ramadaan."

It was reported in al-Saheehayn that Ibn 'Abbaas said: "The Messenger of Allaah
(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not fast any entire month apart
from Ramadaan." (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 1971, and Muslim, no. 1157). Ibn
'Abbaas regarded it as makrooh to fast any entire month apart from Ramadaan.
Ibn Hajar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: "He observed more voluntary
fasts in Sha'baan than in any other month, and he used to fast most of
Sha'baan."

Usaamah ibn Zayd (may Allaah be pleased with them both) said: "I said, 'O
Messenger of Allaah, I do not see you fasting in any other month like you fast
in Sha'baan.' He said, 'That is a month to which people do not pay attention,
between Rajab and Ramadaan, and it is a month in which deeds are lifted up to
the Lord of the Worlds. I like for my deeds to be lifted up when I am
fasting.'" (Narrated by al-Nasaa'i, see Saheeh al-Targheeb wa'l-Tarheeb, page
425). According to a report narrated by Abu Dawood (no. 2076) she said: "The
most beloved of months for the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of
Allaah be upon him) to fast in was Sha'baan, and his fasting in Sha'baan was
continuous with his fasting in Ramadaan." (Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani, see
Saheeh Sunan Abi Dawood, 2/461).

Ibn Rajab (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: "Fasting in Sha'baan is better
than fasting in the Sacred Months, and the best of voluntary fasts are those
that are (observed in the months) closest to Ramadaan, before or after. The
status of these fasts is like that of al-Sunan al-Rawaatib which are done
before and after fard (prayers) and which make up for any shortfall in the
number of obliagtory prayers. The same applies to fasts observed before and
after Ramadaan. Just as al-Sunan al-Rawaatib are better than other kinds of
voluntary prayers, so fasts observed (in the months) before and after Ramadaan
are better than fasts at other times.

The phrase "Sha'baan is a month to which people do not pay attention, between
Rajab and Ramadaan" indicates that because it comes between two important
months, the Sacred Month of Rajab and the month of fasting, people are
preoccupied with those two months and they do not pay attention to Sha'baan.
Many people think that fasting in Rajab is better than fasting in Sha'baan,
because Rajab is one of the Sacred Months, but this is not the case.

In the hadeeth quoted above there is an indication that even though certain
times, places and people may be commonly thought to posses a particular virtue,
there may be others that are better than them.

It also indicates that it is mustahabb to make good use of the times when
people tend to be negligent, by doing acts of worship. A group of the Salaf
used to fill the time between Maghrib and 'Isha' with prayer, saying that it
was a time when many people were negligent. Another example is the remembrance
of Allaah (dhikr) in the marketplace, because this means one is remembering Him
in a place where people tend to be negligent and among people who are
negligent. There are a number of benefits that come from making good use of
times when people are often negligent, and using these times for worship,
including the followi

Bismillah [IslamCity] Protecting the child / What Islam says about marital violence issue?

2008-08-14 Thread Mahaboob Shariff
Protecting the child

By Muhammad Ali Alkhuli

Islam looks at the woman as a wife and a mother. In contrast, some non-Islamic
societies look at the woman mainly as a female at the expense of her role as a
wife and her role as a mother. As a result, Islam shapes instructions to suit
the woman's role as a wife and the woman's role as a mother, because the family
needs a wife dedicated to her husband and a mother dedicated to her children.

We said that Islam blocks the way to illegitimate children by blocking the ways
leading to illegal sexual intercourse. This is one way to protect the child.

The second way to protect the child is to protect the family. When marriage
takes place, a new family is established. When children are born, the family
grows in number. Islam protects the family from divorce, which damages all the
members of the family.

Islam does not allow the husband to intermingle freely with other women so as
to protect his relation with his wife. Islam does not allow the wife to
intermingle freely with other men so as to protect her relation with her
husband.

In Islam, the husband is wholly tied to his wife and the wife is wholly tied to
her husband. This is the only way to protect marriage from divorce, to protect
the family from destruction, and to protect children from fatherlessness,
motherlessness, or both.

In contrast, in societies that allow the two sexes to intermingle freely, there
are two main problems. First, in such societies there are many cases of illegal
intercourse and illegitimate children.

Secondly, marriage does not live long and divorce is the end of most marriages.
Of course, divorce is not only the end of marriage, but also the beginning of
problems for the ex-husband, the ex-wife, and their children.

I must admit that although the Western countries are scientifically and
technologically progressive and are sensitive to statistics related to industry
and economy, they do not show the same sensitivity to statistics related to
social life. When a Western economist considers the figures and numbers of a
certain economy, he concludes something about that economy. In contrast, when a
Western sociologist or psychologist considers the statistics of divorce in his
country, he concludes nothing.

In some Western countries, 60 per cent of marriages end up with divorce. What
does this mean? It simply means that the social structure there destroys
marriage and that the Western way of life nowadays leads to the destruction of
marriage and the destruction of the family.

This result is not difficult to expect. In the West, the two sexes mingle
freely; alcohol is drunk as frequently as water; women are almost naked
everywhere. The result of this mixture is clear.

In some non-Islamic countries, the formula now is this: males + females +
alcohol + feminine nakedness = illegitimate children + destruction of marriage
+ homeless children.

In contrast, the Islamic formula is exactly the opposite: males separated from
females + no alcohol + feminine decency = legitimate children + protection of
marriage + protected children.

I think it is time for Western specialists in psychology and sociology to look
into the statistics about their social diseases and to compare these statistics
with others in Islamic countries in order to have a practical clue about the
difference between Islam and non-Islam.

Islam protects the child by protecting the family and by protecting marriage.
Islam guarantees a true father and a true mother for every child and thus
secures the psychological health of the child.

What Islam says about marital violence issue?

By Waseema Hameed Qureshi

Men and women have been endowed differently. Male and female gender qualities
don't match. Although a woman can function as the breadwinner, while being both
the bearer as well as caretaker of the family offspring, a man is constituted
only to meet the requirements of the tough outdoor life. For the special
responsibility a physically enabled female shares with nature in the grand task
of procreation, a male has to, as Allah's vicegerent, carry out this delegated
responsibility of providing, protecting and comforting his marital partner to
the best of his ability.

Let there be no mistake in understanding that Islam has not in any case allowed
violence against the weak and least of all against women. Allah has indeed,
been highly Gracious and Merciful in issuing mankind the Book which instructs
us through our difficulties in life.

Every word of His Message means to direct us towards righteousness in the
present life and better rewards for the Hereafter. Indeed, mistaken are those
who misinterpret Qur'aanic verses as word of permission to execute violence
against women such as when it quotes:

'Men are the protectors and maintainers of women because Allah has made one of
them excel over the other, and because they spend out of their possessions.
Thus, righteous women are obe

Bismillah [IslamCity] Top 5 skills to teach your kids this summer

2008-08-14 Thread fatimah khan
Top 5 skills to teach your kids this summer
While we want our kids to relax after a grueling school year, it's important
their brains don't turn to mush while school's out.
There are many productive things kids can do, but here is our list of top five
skills they should learn to succeed in school and beyond.
1. Learn CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation)
"And if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole
people" (Quran 5:32)
What could be a more useful skill than one that helps preserves life itself?
Check out your local Red Cross to find out where and when the next CPR class is
being offered.
2. Writing a letter to the editor
This teaches assertiveness, clarity in thought, and basic writing skills all in
one. All it requires is being able to write simple English. Find an article
that your child feels strongly about in the local newspaper. Discuss it first,
then put your thoughts down on paper. Then help him or her compose a letter to
the editor and send it off. If it gets published, post it up on the fridge!
3. Swimming
Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, emphasized teaching children
how to swim. It is not only great exercise and fun, but it could also save your
life. Check out your local park district or gym for lessons.
4. Managing money
Help your kids avoid problems like debt, impulsive shopping, and overspending
by teaching them money management skills this summer. If you already don't,
start giving your child a weekly allowance. Then, help him or her draft a
budget of how to spend and save. Also, make sure they give to charity.
5. Volunteering for a cause
Giving and not receiving any monetary return is a skill critical in our
increasingly materialistic culture. Assess your child's skills, talents, and
interests, and find a volunteer opportunity for him or her this summer. Some
ideas include: helping peace and justice groups; helping younger kids learn
English; making and delivering meals to an elderly person who cannot get out
much; writing articles for a non-profit organization's website or helping with
its technical aspects; answering phone calls, etc.

Bismillah [IslamCity] A Brief HISTORY of the US - Part 5

2008-08-14 Thread Yusuf Ibrahim
*A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE **USA*

*By Tim Lambert*
*http://www.localhistories.org/america.html*
**

*THE DEPRESSION*
President Hoover did try and help. He persuaded employers to maintain wages
at their present levels. He also increased spending on roads, bridges and
public buildings. However Hoover refused to introduce federal unemployment
relief. He believed in what he called 'Rugged individualism'. He believed
too much state help would make people dependent.

*For the unemployed life during the depression was very harsh. Many were
reduced to attending soup kitchens run by charities. (The soup was sometimes
called **'**Hoover stew**'**. Destitute people lived in shantytowns they
called Hoovervilles. **Hoover** became deeply unpopular and in 1932 **
Franklin** **Delano** **Roosevelt** was elected President.*
**

*THE NEW DEAL*
Roosevelt assured the American people that the only thing they had to fear
was fear itself. He promised the American people 'A New Deal'. However
between 1933 and 1939 he had only limited success. Unemployment fell to
between 14% and 15% by 1937. However in that year the economy dipped again.
(It was called the recession) and unemployment rose to 17%. However
industrial production rose to its 1929 level again by 1939.

*At first **Roosevelt** persuaded Congress to pass a number of laws in a
hectic period known as **'**The Hundred Days**'**. One of the first things *
*Roosevelt** did was to close all the banks in the **USA** by law. The
Emergency Banking Act of **9 March 1933** meant they would only open again
if the Federal government declared they were solvent. This measure persuaded
people it was safe to deposit their savings in banks. Restoring faith in
banks was the first step to dealing with the depression.*
**
*On **12 May 1933** the Federal Emergency Relief Act was passed to help the
unemployed. The states were given grants to provide work like repairing
roads and improving parks and schools.*
**
*Also in 1933 **Roosevelt** founded the civilian Conservation Corps, which
employed young men on conservation projects. A Public Works Administration
was created which built public buildings, bridges and dams. Also the **
Tennessee** **Valley** Authority was created to build dams and hydroelectric
plants. *
**
*The Agricultural Adjustment Act of 1933 tried to raise the price of farm
produce by reducing supply. Land was set aside and deliberately not used. In
1937 the Farm Security Administration was formed to lend money to tenant
farmers to buy their land. However farmers on the plains suffered terribly
during the depression. Over planting, overgrazing and a drought combined to
create a **'**dust bowl**'**. Many farmers abandoned the land and went to **
California** in search of work.*
**
*In 1935 the Social Security Act created old age pensions and an
unemployment insurance scheme. Also in 1935 the National Labor Relations Act
or Wagner Act upheld workers right to collective bargaining. In 1938 a Fair
Labor Standards Act created a minimum wage.*
**
*Despite all of **Roosevelt**'**s efforts the depression only ended with the
coming of war.*
**

*THE APPROACH OF WAR*
In 1940 Germany conquered Denmark,
Norway , Holland, Belgium and
France. In response Roosevelt started to expand American armed forces. He
introduced conscription. Although American public opinion was opposed to
joining the war Roosevelt declared that America must be 'the arsenal of
democracy'. In January 1941 he introduced the lend-lease bill to Congress.
It empowered him to sell, lend or lease arms, food or any other supplies to
any country whose defence he deemed vital to the United States. At first
lend-lease applied only to Britain but in August Roosevelt extended it to
Russia . US troops also occupied
Iceland.

*THE SECOND WORLD WAR*
On 7 December 1941 the Japanese attacked the American Pacific fleet at Pearl
Harbor. The next day Congress declared war on Japan. On 11 December 1941
Germany and
Italydeclared war on the
USA.

The USA mobilised all its resources for war. Industrial output doubled
during World War II and by 1943 there was full employment. Only 2,000
aircraft were made in 1939 but by 1944 the figure was 96,000. The American
public suffered less than people in other countries because the USA escaped
occupation of air raids.

*During World War II many black people migrated from the south to the north
and west. Black people became increasingly dissatisfied with their position
in American society. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored
Peoples increased its membership. The Congress for Racial Equality was
formed in 1942. From March 1942 people of Japanese descent, on the west
coast, were interned. By September over 100,000 of them ha

France accused over Rwanda genocide

Tue, 05 Aug 2008 19:59:29 GMT

French soldiers on patrol passing by ethnic Hutu
troops in 1994

French
troops were directly involved in Rwanda's 1994 genocide in which
800,000 people were massacred, Rwanda's justice ministry says.

It named 33 senior French military and political figures including
late president Francois Mitterrand (president from 1981 to 1995), two
former prime ministers Dominique de Villepin and Edouard Balladur of
direct involvement in the massacres from April to July 1994 and said
they should be prosecuted.

Hutu militias slaughtered minority Tutsis and politically moderate Hutus.

The report threatened to further mar relations between the two countries, which
severed diplomatic ties in November 2006.

France has refused to comment on the report and had previously
denied any involvement. France has acknowledged making "mistakes" in
Rwanda but denies any responsibility for the killing spree.

The French foreign ministry told the BBC it would only respond to
the fresh allegations after reading the report, which was released on
Tuesday afternoon.

Rwandan Justice Minister Tharcisse Karugarama, presenting the
500-page report in Kigali, said: "French forces directly assassinated
Tutsis and Hutus accused of hiding Tutsis... French forces committed
several rapes on Tutsi women."

Karugarama said his country had no immediate plans to issue
indictments, but the report "could be the basis for potential charges
against individuals or the state."

He added that it took more than two years for a special commission assigned
with probing France's involvement in the genocide.

The report further said that France was aware of the preparations
for the genocide, contributed to planning the massacres and actively
took part in the killing.

Elsewhere the statement said that considering the seriousness of
the alleged crimes, the Rwandan government has urged the relevant
authorities to bring the accused French politicians and military
officials to justice.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Bin Laden Driver Convicted in War Crimes Trial

2008-08-14 Thread Yusuf Ibrahim
*Bin Laden Driver Convicted in War Crimes Trial* Military jury: Hamdan
supported terrorism, but not guilty of conspiracy

*NBC, MSNBC and news services*

*updated **11:44 a.m. ET** **Aug. 6, 2008** *

GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE, Cuba - *A military jury on Wednesday found a
former driver for Osama bin Laden guilty on some counts but cleared him of
others in the first **Guantanamo** war crimes trial. A panel of six American
military officers delivered the decision in the case against Salim Hamdan, a
Yemeni. The jury deliberated for about eight hours over three days before
convicting Hamdan of supporting terrorism. He was cleared of the conspiracy
charge.*

Hamdan held his head in his hands and wept at the defense table after a Navy
captain presiding over the jury read the sentence in a hilltop courtroom on
this U.S. Navy base. He now faces up to a life sentence after the 10-day
trial, which provided the first demonstration of a special tribunal system
for prosecuting alleged terrorists. The military judge scheduled a
sentencing hearing for later Wednesday.

*It was the Bush administration**'**s third attempt to try Hamdan, who won a
Supreme Court victory that scrapped the first version of the
**Guantanamo**court system. The charges were twice dropped and
refiled.
*

The charges he was cleared of on Wednesday — two of conspiring with al-Qaida
to attack civilians, destroy property, commit murder in violation of the
laws of war — were the only charges against him in the first prosecution
attempt. He was convicted of five counts of providing material support for
terrorism, specifically that his personal services to al-Qaida included
driving and acting as a bodyguard for a man he knew to be the leader of an
international terrorist organization.

*The 11-page verdict form was so complicated that the judge called for a
yellow highlighter pen and marked the portions the jury president was to
read. Jurors were allowed to strike some of the language in the charges, so
some specifics of the verdict were not immediately clear.*

*Rules skewed, defense argues*

*Defense lawyers had feared a guilty verdict was inevitable. The rules of
the tribunal system at the U.S. Navy base appeared designed to achieve
convictions, Navy Lt. Cmdr. Brian Mizer, Salim Hamdan's Pentagon-appointed
attorney, said before the verdict. "I don't know if the panel can render
fair what has already happened," Mizer told reporters as the jury
deliberated.*

*Hamdan**'**s attorneys said the judge allowed evidence that would not have
been admitted by any civilian or military U.S. court, and that
interrogations at the center of the government**'**s case were tainted by
coercive tactics, including sleep deprivation and solitary confinement.*

The tribunal system allows for an appeal before a federal judge, and Hamdan's
team is expected to go there next.

*Appeal likely*

Before the trial started, the team asked a federal judge to declare the
process so legally flawed that it was unconstitutional. The judge, at a
hearing in Washington, ruled to let the trial proceed, after which he would
be open to reviewing whether it was proper. The rules allow four levels of
appeal, first to the Pentagon appointee overseeing the Guantanamo tribunals.
She can overturn convictions and shorten the sentence but cannot add
convictions or lengthen the sentence. After that, Hamdan could appeal to a
special military appeals court, then to the U.S. federal appeals court in
Washington and finally to the U.S. Supreme Court.

*Supporters of the tribunals said the Bush administration**'**s system
provided extraordinary due process rights for defendants. "This military
judge is to be commended for providing a fair and internationally legally
sufficient trial for the accused and the government — regardless of the
ultimate verdict," said Charles "Cully" Stimson, a former deputy assistant
secretary of defense for detainee affairs.*

*Hamdan was captured at a roadblock in southern **Afghanistan** in November
2001 and taken to **Guantanamo** in May 2002. The military accused him of
transporting missiles for al-Qaida and helping bin Laden escape
**U.S.**retribution following the Sept. 11 attacks by driving him
around
**Afghanistan**. Defense attorneys said he was merely a low-level bin Laden
employee.*

Bismillah [IslamCity] hadith: Can only ask Allah for help through your own deeds

2008-08-14 Thread Shahid
Narrated Ibn Umar:
  Allah's Apostle said,

"Once three persons (from the previous nations) were traveling, and suddenly
it started raining and they took shelter in a cave. The entrance of the cave
got closed while they were inside. They said to each other, 'O you! Nothing can
save you except the truth, so each of you should ask Allah's Help by referring
to such a deed as he thinks he did sincerely (i.e. just for gaining Allah's
Pleasure).' So one of them said, 'O Allah! You know that I had a laborer who
worked for me for one Faraq (i.e. three Sas) of rice, but he departed, leaving
it (i.e. his wages). I sowed that Faraq of rice and with its yield I bought
cows (for him). Later on when he came to me asking for his wages, I said (to
him), 'Go to those cows and drive them away.' He said to me, 'But you have to
pay me only a Faraq of rice,' I said to him, 'Go to those cows and take them,
for they are the product of that Faraq (of rice).' So he drove them. O Allah!
If you consider that I did that for fear of You, then please remove the rock.'
The rock shifted a bit from the mouth of the cave. The second one said, 'O
Allah, You know that I had old parents whom I used to provide with the milk of
my sheep every night. One night I was delayed and when I came, they had slept,
while my wife and children were crying with hunger. I used not to let them
(i.e. my family) drink unless my parents had drunk first. So I disliked to wake
them up and also disliked that they should sleep without drinking it, I kept on
waiting (for them to wake) till it dawned. O Allah! If You consider that I did
that for fear of you, then please remove the rock.' So the rock shifted and
they could see the sky through it. The (third) one said, 'O Allah! You know
that I had a cousin (i.e. my paternal uncle's daughter) who was most beloved to
me and I sought to seduce her, but she refused, unless I paid her one-hundred
Dinars (i.e. gold pieces). So I collected the amount and brought it to her, and
she allowed me to sleep with her. But when I sat between her legs, she said,
'Be afraid of Allah, and do not deflower me but legally. 'I got up and left the
hundred Dinars (for her). O Allah! If You consider that I did that for fear of
you than please remove the rock. So Allah saved them and they came out (of the
cave)." (This Hadith indicates that one can only ask Allah for help directly or
through his performed good deeds. But to ask Allah through dead or absent
prophets, saints, spirits, holy men, angels etc. is absolutely forbidden in
Islam and it is a kind of disbelief.)
