Re: Bismillah [IslamCity] Pray for help from Allah in Patience Constancy

2008-08-17 Thread debunks

This question is directed toward our Muslim brothers and sisters-

There is a reference in the Koran, Surah 87.19 in which the Book of Abraham
and The Book of Moses is mentioned. What books might these be?
To what is the prophet specifically referring? What 'is' the Book of
Abraham? What is the Book of Moses? Thank you.

Love
Love is a powerful force. It can take us to great heights and leave us feeling
light and airy. Yet it has been the most abused and misused force. Many
degraded things pass for love. True love is based on understanding, mutual
trust and respect and not simply on transient emotions. Love is being in
balance, that is, in harmony with the self, God and each other. Love dwells in
the soul. We must allow this love to flow out and around us. Without love, all
of life's treasures are locked away from our vision and experiences, for indeed
'love is the key.'

Bismillah [IslamCity] What if You Can't Fast During Ramadan?

2008-08-17 Thread Waseem Baloch

Muslims who can't fast (elderly who are not strong enough to fast, very sick people, etc.) should give Fidya, a compensation for each missed day of fasting. If however an old or sick person gains strength after Ramadan, it is recommended that he/she fasts to make up those days, and the Fidya they paid will count as a sadaqah on their behalf.

What Allah (swt) Has Said About Paying Fidya" . . . And as for those who can fast with difficulty, they have (a choice either to fast or) to feed a Miskîn (poor person) (for every day). But whoever does good of his own accord, it is better for him. And that you fast, it is better for you if only you know." (Al-Baqarah 2:184)

How Does Hidaya Distribute Fidya?Hidaya Foundation (www.hidaya.org) distributes Fidya on behalf of those who can't fast in the form of meals for poor and deserving people..

What is the Cost of Fidya?Fidya for each missed day of fasting is $3.50 according to Hanafi school of thought or $7.00 according to other major schools of thought.

US Congressman Joe Sestak of Pennsylvania urges entry ban on Narendra Modi

Lawmaker details Modi's human rights abuses in his letter to Secretary Rice

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 6, 2008

The Coalition Against Genocide added one more congressman to its growing list
of supporters for a visa ban on the genocide tainted Gujarat Chief Minister
Narendra Modi.

In a letter to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Congressman Joe Sestak, a
democrat from Pennsylvania, outlined the complicity of Modi's administration in
the religious persecution of minorities: Numerous inquiries by Indian
officials and non-governmental organizations have determined that the state
government in Gujarat, led by Chief Minister Modi, provided leadership and
material support for the rape and murder of women and young children, and the
destruction of homes, business and resources primarily belong to Indian
Muslims.

The letter went on to detail the broad spectrum of human rights abuses ongoing
in Gujarat: Mr. Modi ordered a census, ruled illegal by the Gujarat High
Court, of the Christian community - the same action he took prior to the
orchestrated attacks on Muslims in 2002. And Under his leadership, the state
of Gujarat passed an anti-conversion law in strong violation of the Indian
Constitution and international human rights norms to which India is a party

Congressman Sestak urged Secretary Rice: I am deeply concerned that a visit to
the United States by Chief Minister Modi is in violation of the International
Religious Freedom Act and will provide tacit approval of his reprehensible
statements, policies and actions that violate the core of the human rights upon
which our nation is founded, I respectfully request your leadership in publicly
condemning his actions and policies by once again denying Chief Minister
Narendra Modi the right to enter this country.

In another snub highlighting Modi's isolation on the stage of international
politics, the Gujarat Chief Minister's name has been dropped from the list of
invitees at the World Economic Forum being held in Tianjin, China this
September. Modi's Principal Secretary had earlier confirmed to newspapers that
the Chief Minister had received an invite from WEF.

Amidst reports of a lobbying effort by his supporters to get his visa
reinstated, Modi has been invited to attend a conference in New York on August
29-31st 2008.

Since the reports of Modi's invitation surfaced in the press, the Coalition
Against Genocide (CAG) has launched a campaign to have the State Department
publicly reaffirm its past decision of not granting a visa to Modi. Following
the CAG campaign, Congresswoman Betty McCollum (D-MN) as well as the US
Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) weighed in with the
State Department on continuing the entry ban on Modi.

The Coalition Against Genocide includes a diverse spectrum of organizations and
individuals in the United States and Canada that have come together in response
to the Gujarat genocide to demand accountability and justice.

Islamic equity funds

By Syed Imad Asad

ISLAMIC finance signifies financial services, mechanisms,
practices, transactions and instruments that comply with provisions given in the
fundamental Islamic texts. Thus, Islamic finance not only includes banking, but
also capital formation, capital markets and all types of financial
intermediation.

In recent years, Islamic finance has not only increased
in size. It has also become complex as finance professionals compete furiously
to produce new Sharia-compliant transactions and instruments. Becoming a segment
within the global financial market, it has gained considerable interest as an
alternative model of financial intermediation.

However, in the 1980s and
most of the 1990s, Islamic finance did not have much of this dynamism. On the
asset side, the activities of Islamic financial institutions mainly involved
ijara, mudaraba and musharaka. The need for liquidity, portfolio and risk
management tools, and derivative instruments was strongly felt, and there were
numerous calls for the promotion of financial engineering and the introduction
of new products.

Along with other developments, this resulted in the
introduction of Islamic equity funds (IEFs). Overall, IEFs have been the most
popular among all Islamic investment funds. According to FTSE, IEF assets are
forecasted to increase from $15.5bn to $53.8bn by 2010. According to other
reports, the assets have already reached $20bn.

The industry is dominated
by Saudi Arabian funds and fund managers, accounting for more than 70 funds out
of about 300 IEFs globally. In fact, Saudi British Bank’s Amanah GCC Equity Fund
was reported as the best performing Islamic equity fund in 2007. On the other
hand, Bahrain is becoming the centre for IEF registrations because of the
kingdom’s efficient regulatory system. International investment firms with
Islamic divisions are focusing on Dubai.

IEFs are different from
conventional equity funds because they select their placements on the basis of
their compatibility with the Sharia. In order for a stock to be considered
Sharia-approved, it must satisfy certain requirements set by Islamic scholars.
These standards may differ in different jurisdictions depending upon how
strictly the Sharia is interpreted.

However, the basic condition is the
same throughout the Muslim world: an enterprise must not conduct business
activities prohibited by Islamic texts. These include gambling, alcohol,
pornography, etc. Financial ratios (debt-to-equity ratio, cash and
interest-bearing securities-to-equity ratio and cash-to-asset ratio) and
cleansing mechanisms (to purify investments that are tainted by forbidden
activities) are also used by various Sharia boards and authorities.

It
must be mentioned that a country may or may not have a national screening body.
For instance, in Malaysia, it is done by the Securities Commission; whereas in
the Middle East financial institutions prepare their own list of Sharia-approved
stocks.

One of the factors that gave an immense boost to IEFs was the
introduction of the Dow Jones Islamic Market Index (DJIM) in 1999 as a subset of
Dow Jones Global Indexes (DJGI). DJIM Indexes intend to measure investable
equities that fulfil Sharia requirements. At present, with more than 70 Islamic
indexes (which include regional, country, industry and market-cap-based
indexes), it is one of the most comprehensive families of Islamic market
indexes.

Other conventional index providers have also entered the field.
In 2000, FTSE launched the FTSE Global Islamic Index. Unlike Dow Jones that has
an independent Sharia Supervisory Board, FTSE indexes are evaluated by Yasaar
Research Inc. In 2006, Standard Poor’s (SP) introduced the SP
Sharia Indices, followed by in 2007 the SP GCC Sharia Indices and the
SP Pan Asia Sharia Indices. SP has contracted with Ratings
Intelligence Partners (RI) to provide the Sharia screens and select the stocks
based on these standards.

As reported by the Financial Times, these
indexes do not enjoy complete acceptance by Muslims. The screening principle
allowing total debt ratios of up to 33 per cent is considered objectionable by
some scholars. They claim that it is akin to declaring a kind of food that has a
small quantity of pork in it as halal. The indexes maintain that their
legitimacy comes from the concerned Sharia authorities. In other words, as long
as their Sharia supervisors agree with these practices, the indexes need not
change them.

The future of IEFs does not look gloomy at all. However,
Muslim scholars need to be careful while interpreting and applying the Sharia.
They need to make sure that Islamic principles are properly observed and that
they don’t present or accept an un-Islamic idea as Islamic just because there is
more profit in it.

The NYT Finds Heroes in Tbilisi — In Baghdad, Only Terrorists by Laura
Flanders

The* New York Times* ran a feature August
12http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/12/world/europe/12civilians.html,
on Georgian civilians who've joined the fight against the Russian invasion
of that former Soviet republic. The story, by Nicholas Kulish and Michael
Schwirtz is full of empathy and heart.

Nika Kharadze and Giorgi Monasalidze went to war last week, the Times* *report
begins, even though they were not warriors.

It goes on to describe how the men's parents have been searching for them
ever since. They've gone from hospital to hospital, to the local and
International Red Cross. Mom and dad even asked the cellphone company to
trace the last known location of their son's phone. No luck.

And then there's this line: as parts of the country fell before the Russian
invaders, the Times writes, it was not only the army that rose in its
defense but also regular citizens. Resistance, we learn, was part of a
tradition, inscribed in local history and culture going back to medieval
times.

To make the point, the writers describe a government employee, standing
under a statue of Stalin in the city's main square with a rifle slung over
his civilian clothes. The man is part of a group of a dozen locals who tell
the reporter they're there to defend their town.

The story also describes displacement caused by bombing. The planes came in
and they started to bomb. The ground was covered with dead people, and there
was nowhere to go, says Goderzi Zenashvili, 48. The people that died, they
died from their houses falling in on them, from the shrapnel and from
concussions.

So now we know! *The New York Times can do it when they want to.* They can
paint a picture of war that's hard to shake: heroic, hapless young men who
take up arms to defend their homelands; moms and dads and lovers worried
sick. The *Times* can explain how invading armies provoke righteous
resistance.
But they didn't — not when it was Baghdad instead of Tbilisi, and the statue
Saddam's, not Stalin's. Then, local people in resistance were called dead

Bismillah [IslamCity] usa: Prisoner No. 650 - Dr. Aafia Siddiqui

2008-08-17 Thread Shahid

Prisoner No. 650

By AIJAZ ZAKA SYED

13/08/08 Middle East Times' -- Just when you think Uncle Sam's war has
no more surprises to spring on an unsuspecting world, he comes up with yet
another gem. Take the case of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, a Pakistani neuroscientist
who grew up in the U.S. and went to top universities including the prestigious
Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The woman who had been a star student and a topper throughout a
remarkable career had to leave the United States when the authorities began
harassing her and her husband for their charity activities in the wake of Sept.
11, 2001 upheavals.

The family settled down in Karachi and was never involved in any illegal
activities. One day in March 2003, this talented young woman went missing with
her three children when she was on her way to Karachi airport.

Dr. Siddiqui resurfaced this week after five years in a New York court as
a top al-Qaida terrorist. She was barely able to walk and speak, which was
not surprising given the fact she had been recently involved in a gun fight
with FBI agents in Afghanistan. The U.S. authorities claim Dr. Siddiqui was
captured near the governor's offices in Ghazni, Afghanistan last month with a
bag full of suspicious liquids in tubes.

If you think this is an incredible yarn, here's some more food for
thought. We are told Siddiqui assaulted a team of U.S. troops and FBI officials
with a highly sophisticated weapon when they went to quiz her in Afghanistan.
And where did she get the weapon? Somebody had of course placed it near
her rather conveniently. She is said to have fired several rounds with the
hi-tech weapon.

Interestingly, while all those alleged rounds of firing with the alleged
weapon failed to wound or injure America's brave soldiers, Siddiqui herself has
ended up with a bullet wound in her chest.

Even though one has never been enamored of the Bushies' extraordinary
intellectual powers, this cock-and-bull tale is an insult to the intelligence
of American people as well as the rest of the world.

I mean they could have at least employed more ingenuity of thought and
imagination in cooking up this incredibly bizarre case against a lone,
defenseless, half-dead woman who seems to have no clue where she is or what she
is accused of.

There are some basic questions that an ordinary mind like mine just can't
seem to figure out.

IS THIS BAGRAM'S MYSTERIOUS SCREAMING PRISONER? Mother-of-three Dr. Aafia
Siddiqui (2004 file photo) has resurfaced in a New York court as a top
al-Qaida terrorist after disappearing five years ago. She was barely able to
walk and speak, which was not surprising given the fact she had been recently
involved in a gun fight with FBI agents in Afghanistan. A former Bagram
prisoner has written of a woman's endless screams for help as she was tortured.
Is Siddiqui this Prisoner No. 650?

First, where was Aafia Siddiqui hiding or hidden all these years - since she
went missing in Karachi in March 2003? How did she turn up in the remote Ghazni
province in Afghanistan, of all the God-forsaken places? And what happened to
her three children?

Second, if the MIT-educated neuroscientist was indeed an al-Qaida mastermind,
why wasn't she presented in a court of law all this while?

Even today when she is facing the U.S. law, she is not being tried on terrorism
charges but for allegedly assaulting the U.S. officials. So what's her original
crime, if she has indeed committed a crime?

Third, why wasn't the Pakistani government informed about her detention in
Afghanistan and her subsequent deportation to the United States? Or are
Pakistan's Enlightened and Moderate leaders also involved in this international
enterprise against a 31-year-old mom of three?

There are so many gaping holes in this case that the U.S. constitution, Magna
Carta and the U.N. human rights charter can all go through them at the same
time.

You abduct a completely innocent, married woman with a family and put her away
for five years to conveniently discover her now as a terrorist in lawless
Afghanistan.

Elaine Whitfield Sharp, Siddiqui's lawyer, believes she has been put on trial
now because she has become a terrible embarrassment to the U.S. and Afghan
authorities.

The question is why has she been reinvented now? It is quite possible that
Siddiqui has been FOUND now because of a relentless campaign by British
journalist Yvonne Ridley.

Ridley herself had been a prisoner of the Taliban regime for 11 days just
before the U.S. invasion in 2001 and converted to Islam after her strange
experience in Afghanistan.

Ridley has been running a campaign called Cage Prisoner for the release of a
mysterious female prisoner who has been held at the Bagram airbase in
Afghanistan in total isolation and regularly tortured for five years.

The unknown female prisoner, known as the Prisoner No. 650 or the Grey

Bismillah [IslamCity] Leaving the US for Palestine

2008-08-17 Thread Mazin Qumsiyeh
After such knowledge; what forgiveness?

Think now

History has many cunning passages,

Contrived corridors

And issue, deceives with wispering ambitions

Guides us by vanities.

Think now

She gives when our attention is distracted

And what she gives, she gives with such supple confusion

We shall not cease from exploration

And the end of all exploring

Will be to arrive where we started

And know the place for the first time

T. S. Elliot

I
graduated from Jordan University with a Bachelor degree at age 21 and
then taught in Palestinian Schools (Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Jericho). In
those year and a half as a middle and high school teacher (Jan 78-June
79) I worked very hard at two jobs (extra teaching at private school in
Jerusalem) so as to save money for higher education. I saved enough for
the airline tickets and an extra $1500 for the first few months in
America. I came to the US in August 1979 to pursue higher education and
ended up
making it a home while maintaining a home in Palestine. Since then I
got my doctorate, medical boards in genetics, and served on faculties
at the University of Tennessee, Duke, and Yale Universities. I
published over 130 scientific papers and three books. Here I also met
first my wife, built a family, made thousands of friends, and chose to
become a citizen. Thus, my journey in the US was wonderful and highly
successful. Much of my activism was driven here by the desire to
improve this country (e.g. stop it from committing war crimes and
crimes against humanity). I strongly believe that unless all of us
work together to change US foreign policy (a policy shaped by Zionist
lobbies), we are all doomed. We see that millions of US citizens are
also concerned about the way this foreign policy is damaging our
economy and reputation around the world. I think it must (and it will)
change. There are many good signs (e.g. the books of Carter and
Mearsheimer and Walt became best sellers). Yet, today with the new laws
that shred constitutional protections, government intrusion on every
sphere of life, the US has been more Israelized. These things,
restrictions on students coming from the Arab world, and the war
economy in America (that devastated higher education here) makes a
repeat of my story much more difficult if not impossible. My own
journey has not been easy. Racist Zionists tried to block us at every
corner and racism in a society shaped by Hollywood films that villify
Arabs is rampant. Some take their positions at institutions of higher
education and at funding agencies (e.g. March of Dimes, National
Science Foundation, National Institute of Health) as a license to
advance their racist ideologies. This situation continues although I
did notice that in the past 12-15 years things have become more opened
up. This is a function of a) numbers: Zionist ranks are dwindling and
populations of all other people in the US are growing, b) the internet
opening up the dialogues and increasing exposure to the truth, and c)
more Arab and Muslim Americans taking on their civic responsibilities
and asserting their rights and their responsibilities in this society.
But perhaps it is always a struggle anyway.

But the difficulties I faced (including a major health issue) are
nothing compared to what other Palestinians face under occupation or in
exile (e.g. in refugee camps in Lebanon and Syria). I consider my
challenges/difficulties in life as blessings. I would not want them
changed if I had the power to change them. Difficulties in life make us
who we are and help us improve. In this I am thankful even to those
self-declared enemies and protagonists who sometimes succeeded in what
they aimed to do and sometimes failed but always provided me with good
lessons. So perhaps a tinge of me wants more difficulties. I look
back with nostalgia at my upbringing under Israeli occupation. I look
with nostalgia at the time I was teaching in the West Bank. I talk to
my elderly diabetic mother every week and she tells me
stories of what is going on on the ground. Her stories include things
like people dying because of being prevented from going to
health clinics, students denied the right to go to school, lands
confiscated, children shot in the back of the head, extra-judicial
executions, further acts of ethnic cleansing, and more. I also go
to Palestine every year and I see the apartheid system getting worse.
Walls surrounding towns and villages, US weapons that killed or maimed
friends and colleagues, economic strangulation, and much more. But
both mother and I see so much good work being done by good people of
all faiths and backgrounds.

Thus, every year when I go visit
Palestine, I cannot wait to come back even though life there gets worse
(checkpoints, the violence of the occupation, the economic
deterioration). My last visit was of July last year. The hate I
witnessed from settlers, from occupation soldiers, and yes from some
natives was so thick in the

Bismillah [IslamCity] Laylatul Baraat

2008-08-17 Thread PoEtEsS

In the Name of Almighty Allah

Most Gracious, Most Merciful

LAYLATUL  BARAAT

 Assalamualaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu.

 Wa Ba'd:

Ummatal Muslimeen! During this most wonderful month of Sha'baan, the following
announcement goes out to the Muslim Ummah:

O brethern in Islam! You should generously distribute your Zakat to the poor
and the needy, the widows and the orphans particularly during this month of
Sha'baan; then you will certainly enter Jannah, the House of Peace. We ask our
Glorious Creator and Sustainer - Almighty Allah Subhanahu Wata'ala to cover us
with His Mercy, and make us die as Muslims, and to pardon all of us with His
Mercy, for He is Most Merciful of those who show mercy. All Praise is due only
to Rahmathul Liel Ala'meen, the Lord of all the worlds. We seek refuge in
Almighty Allah from Shaythaan, the rejected one.Ha Meem! - I swear by the
manifest Most Holy and Noble Qur'an, that We have sent it down in a Blessed
Night of Ramadhaan.

Sha'baan as we all know is the eight month of the Islamic year. The meaning of
the word Sha'baan means to spread or to descend. It is related in a Hadith that
our Beloved Nabee Sallallahoo Alaihi Wasallam said: To the one who fasts and
performs righteous deeds during the month of Sha'baan, great blessings and
prosperity will descend upon him or her. It is therefore due to the descending
blessings and prosperity upon such virtuous people that this month is called
Sha'baan. The month of Sha'baan is a great gift to the Muslim Ummah and holds
abundant virtues.

O People of Imaan! During this wonderful month, Almighty Allah - out of His
Great Muhabbat for humanity, has blessed us with the Night of  Baraat. This is
the night of destiny in which Almighty Allah distinguished it with the coming
down of the Mala'eeka to the Doonya to witness all our virtuous actions during
the night. This is the night when the destiny for the coming year is determined
for every human being. The Night of  Baraat is indeed a great gift to us for we
have been reminded of its untold blessings in the following words:  In the Name
of Allah, Most Gracious Most Merciful. All Praise is due to Allah, Who is
peerless in creating all the things in the universe; and then He blessed every
thing and determined a certain measure for it; no one from His creatures was a
partner (in creating things), He decorated, honoured and determined every
thing; and He distinguished the Night of Baraat with the coming down of the
Malaa'eeka (to this Doonya).

Alhumdoelillah! It is related from Hazrat Osama bin Zaid Radhiallahu Ta'ala
Anho that our Beloved Nabee Sallallahoo Alayhi Wasallam said: Sha'baan is my
month and Ramadhaan belongs exclusively to Almighty Allah. I now ask: What
better excellence does the month of Sha'baan require? Our Beloved Nabee
Sallallahoo Alayhi Wasallam also said that he loved to fast during this month
because the deeds of the servants are presented to our Glorious Creator and
that he wanted his deeds to be presented while he was fasting. We all know that
examinations are written in every school, college and university at the end of
each academic year. These exams are based on the year's work. The most
negligent student will study far in advance of the exams. It is therefore
natural that a person should be well prepared for anything that he or she is
going to be tested on. This world is mortal and Almighty Allah Subhanahu
Wata'ala has sent mankind to worship none save Him and Him alone. As Mussaffirs
on this Doonya we have to undergo these tests.

Ummatal Qur’an! Almighty Allah has not created mankind free to wonder the
world without any purpose, but He takes account of our actions yearly and
according to the merits of our actions, we are given our sustenance for the
coming year. The month of Sha'baan is the month of exams where the coming
year's commands are issued. It is therefore absolutely necessary that we- the
favoured Ummah of His Beloved Nabee Sallallahoo Alayhi Wasallam prepare for
these examinations well in advance. Another great significance of this month is
that Almighty Allah's splendour and Muhabbat descends on the first heaven after
sunset on the night of Baraat where He proclaims: Is there anyone who will beg
for forgiveness for I will surely grant My forgiveness? Is there anyone who
will repent for I will accept his or her repentance - and is there anyone who
will ask Me for his or her needs I will grant whatever he or she asks? Is there
anyone who seeks sustenance that I may grant it? Is there anyone in calamity
that I may grant salvation.? These blessings are showered during the entire
night of Baraat and the proclamation continues till dawn. During the month of
Sha'baan one should fast as much as possible and spend the nights in Ibadah, so
that we can Insha'Allah prepare ourselves well in advance for the night of
Baraat.

Ibad’Allah! It is also a blessing to fast on

Re: Bismillah [IslamCity] Top 5 skills to teach your kids this summer

2008-08-17 Thread Ibrahim Hayani

Dear Friends, Brothers Sisters,

Thank you for sharing these simple, but remarkably useful and relevant 5
skills that all parents should strive to teach their children. Equally
important is the fact that all five skills are strongly and deeply
rooted in Islam's value system. It is a perfect combination of
practicality and spirituality.

Regards,

Top 5 skills to teach your kids this summer
While we want our kids to relax after a grueling school year, it's
important their brains don't turn to mush while school's out.
There are many productive things kids can do, but here is our list of
top five skills they should learn to succeed in school and beyond.

1. Learn CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation)
And if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of
the whole people (Quran 5:32)
What could be a more useful skill than one that helps preserves life
itself? Check out your local Red Cross
http://click.icptrack.com/icp/relay.php?r=1049722640msgid=30786749act=SJEJc=68038admin=0destination=http://www.redcross.ca
to find out where and when the next CPR class is being offered.

2. Writing a letter to the editor
This teaches assertiveness, clarity in thought, and basic writing
skills all in one. All it requires is being able to write simple
English. Find an article that your child feels strongly about in the
local newspaper. Discuss it first, then put your thoughts down on
paper. Then help him or her compose a letter to the editor and send it
off. If it gets published, post it up on the fridge!

3. Swimming
Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, emphasized teaching
children how to swim. It is not only great exercise and fun, but it
could also save your life. Check out your local park district or gym
for lessons.

4. Managing money
Help your kids avoid problems like debt, impulsive shopping, and
overspending by teaching them money management skills this summer. If
you already don't, start giving your child a weekly allowance. Then,
help him or her draft a budget of how to spend and save. Also, make
sure they give to charity.

5. Volunteering for a cause
Giving and not receiving any monetary return is a skill critical in
our increasingly materialistic culture. Assess your child's skills,
talents, and interests, and find a volunteer opportunity for him or
her this summer. Some ideas include: helping peace and justice groups;
helping younger kids learn English; making and delivering meals to an
elderly person who cannot get out much; writing articles for a
non-profit organization's website or helping with its technical
aspects; answering phone calls, etc.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Help this 7-yr old girl stay with her Muslim father!

her Muslim father!

  From: Latifa Aimaq [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Asalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah,

I am writing from San Diego, California, where a little Muslim girl is in need
of your duas and financial help.

The little girl is 7 years old and born to a man from Pakistan who works in
Saudi Arabia as a laborer and a woman who is an American. The little girl's
mother and grandmother were in the U.S. while the father worked in Saudi Arabia.

Due to an illness and resulting consequences, the little girl's mother lost
custody of her daughter to the state. There have been elements of racism and
anti-Islamic behavior by all involved who want to award custody to the
Non-Muslim side of the family rather than send her to live with her father in
Saudi Arabia. I can provide our local CAIR representative's contact
information who has been involved in the case and who can clairfy this point
with you if you want.

The little girl's father is desperately trying to get his daughter back but he
needs to retain a good lawyer. We were not able to raise the 5,000 dollars in
time and so we retained the lawyer too late (when he agreed to start the case
for 3,000 on the condition that we help him later.)

Please help this case by donating any amount you can. An account has been
established for this case and if you want to help, please email me and I can
email you the necessary information. If you need references to verify the
case, I can provide that information as well.

Jazakom ALLAH Khaire
