Those going to hajj should definitely visit the site and see your hotel's
location so you don't become lost on the first time back from the masjid

Hotels in Madina anyone?

By Faraz Omar Saudi Gazette

JEDDAH - A cool new service to find hotels in Madina has been launched. The
link - www.haraj.net/ http://www.haraj.net/madina madina - shows a
satellite view of the city with the Prophet's Mosque at the center. The
hotels around it are marked in color.

Simply moving your mouse over the hotels gives you the name of the hotel and
the contact details. This gives people the option to see and choose hotels
according to their proximity with the Prophet's mosque.

The website, still at its initial stage of development, promises to offer
much more in the future.

It plans to build an online market place for visitors to find any services
they need, from the comfort of their homes or offices.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Sacrifice to Thank Allah

2008-12-02 Thread Ugandan Muslims

Sacrifice to Thank Allah for his Bounties

Adhuhiyah (offering a sacrifice) is one of the great rituals of
Islam, in which we remember the Unity of Allah, His blessings upon us, and the
obedience of our grandfather Ibrahim to his Lord. The word adhuhiyah
means an animal (i.e. camel, cow, sheep or goat) that is slaughtered during the
days of `Eid Al-Adha as an act of
worship, intending by it to draw closer to Allah.

In the Qur'an Allah says: (Therefore turn in prayer to your Lord and sacrifice
(to
Him only)) (Al-Kawthar 108:2).

The underlying implication of Islam's attitude toward ritual slaughter
is not that of blood atonement, or seeking favor with Allah through another's
death, but rather, the act of thanking Allah for one's sustenance and the
personal sacrifice of sharing one's possessions and valuable food with one's
fellow humans.

Allah says further: (It is not their meat nor
their blood, that reaches Allah: it is your piety that reaches Him: He has thus
made them subject to you, that ye may glorify Allah for His guidance to you}
(Al-Hajj 22:37).

Who Should Sacrifice?

Offering Udhuhiyah (sacrifice) during `Eid Al-Adha is regarded as wajib
or mandatory according to Imam Abu Hanifah. All those people who have the
ability to buy an animal (e.g. a goat or sheep of about 40,000/= in Uganda)
should
offer a sacrifice.

One goat or sheep is sufficient for one person as sacrifice, but a
maximum of seven people can pool money together, buy and share in offering one
cow or camel and it will be sufficient for them as a sacrifice

What Are The Rituals For Those Who Want
To Sacrifice?

It is recommended by the Sunnah for the one who wants to offer a
sacrifice, once the new moon of Dhul-Hijjah appears, not to remove anything
from his hair, nails or skin, until he has offered the sacrifice, because of
the report narrated by the group except Al-Bukhari, from Umm Salamah (may Allah
be pleased with her), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon
him) said: “Whoever has an animal to slaughter, when the new moon of
Dhul-Hijjah appears, let him not remove anything from his hair or nails until
he has offered the sacrifice.” This applies whether he is going to
slaughter the sacrifice himself or he has appointed someone else to do it;

The reason for this prohibition is that when the person who wants to
offer the sacrifice joins the pilgrims in some of the rituals of Hajj— namely
drawing closer to Allah by slaughtering the sacrifice—he also joins him in some
of the features of ihram, namely refraining from cutting his hair, etc.

How Should The Meat Be Distributed?

Lastly, the meat of the Udhuhiyah should be divided in three equal
portions: one
for oneself and the family, one for friends and
neighbors, and one for the poor and needy. If there are
more poor people, then it is good to give all of it in charity to the poor and
the needy.

So Forward This Email To All
Muslims That Can Afford the Price of a Goat and Encourage Them to Prepare Their
Sacrifice (To Thank Allah) on Eid Day

Abu Mas'ud 'Uqba ibn 'Amr al-Ansari al-Badri reported that the Messenger of
Allah, (PBUH), said, Anyone who shows the way to something good has the same
reward as the person who does it. [Muslim]   E.g. if you encourage someone
to go for Salah, or pay Zakat and the person actually goes ahead and prays or
pays Zakat, Allah will reward him for the good deeds and at the same time give
you (the one that encouraged them to do good) an equal reward as he has given
them- without decreasing what he gave them.      So Encourage Other To Do Good
And Refrain From Bad Deeds

Praise be to Allaah.

There can be no doubt that the fitnah (temptation) of women is great. The
Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “I have not left
behind me any fitnah that is more harmful to men than women.” Narrated by
al-Bukhaari, 4808; Muslim, 2704. Hence the Muslim has to be cautious of this
fitnah and keep away from anything that may cause him to fall prey to it. Some
of the greatest causes of this fitnah are looking at women and mixing with
them.
Shaykh ‘Abd al-‘Azeez ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:
Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Tell the believing men to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things),
and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts). That is purer for
them. Verily, Allaah is All‑Aware of what they do.
And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden
things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts) and not to
show off their adornment except only that which is apparent (like both eyes for
necessity to see the way, or outer palms of hands or one eye or dress like
veil, gloves, headcover, apron), and to draw their veils all over Juyoobihinna
(i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms) and not to reveal their adornment
except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband’s fathers, or
their sons, or their husband’s sons, or their brothers or their brother’s sons,
or their sister’s sons, or their (Muslim) women (i.e. their sisters in Islam),
or the (female) slaves whom their right hands possess, or old male servants who
lack vigour, or small children who have no sense of feminine sex. And let them
not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And all
of you beg Allaah
to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful”

The Ideal Muslim Husband
Much ink has been spilled, and much breath, in defining the role of Muslim
women; the rights of Muslim women; the duties of Muslim women, what constitutes
an ideal Muslim wife. Maybe because there has so much misunderstanding of the
role of women, we seem to give it special emphasis in lectures and books.
However since men and women are interdependent, it is not wise to concentrate on
one and remain silent about the other.
The last time I was invited to speak about The ideal Muslim Wife, I
made a promise that my next assignment would be to prepare a lecture on
The ideal Muslim Husband. Many men seem to feel that women, and their
wives in particular, should be ideal Muslims, while they themselves and their
fellow men behave as they like without reference to the Qur’an and Sunnah, and
unchallenged by the Shari’ah.
This paper is therefore intended to redress the balance; to turn the spotlight
on to the men, so that they might be aware of the Islamic standard for an ideal
husband, as they try to reach that standard as much as they wish their wives to
reach the standard of an ideal Muslim wife.
The obvious place to look for these standards of behaviour is in the Qur’an
and Hadith.
Let us therefore start at the beginning. How does the ideal husband behave
before marriage? After all, a man does not totally change his character with
effect from his wedding day. The bride is joining her life with that of another
person whose personality and habits have been in some degree already formed.
What then should be the behavior towards women by a young man before marriage?
Islam does not accept the view common in the western secular society that
before marriage a young man is expected to sow his wild oats -
whether by frequenting prostitutes or by sleeping around, or having any form of
trial marriage. For all such activities the Qur’an has prescribed
a legal punishment of 100 lashes. [Qur’an 24:2]
The Qur’an moreover says;
And as for those who are unable to marry,
let them live in continence until Allah grants them sufficiently out of his
bounty
[Qur’an 24:33]
To assist young men in this situation the Prophet (saws) in a Hadith recorded
in Bukhari further advised;
Young men, those of you who can support a wife should marry, for it keeps
you from looking at women and preserves your chastity; but those who cannot
should fast, for it is a means of cooling passion.
For those who have the means to get married, how should they go about it? We
have mentioned that the modern western practice of having girlfriends and trial
marriages is emphatically unlawful for Muslims. Instead it is expected that the
family and friends will play a big role in finding out in detail about the
character and circumstances of the proposed partner before allowing the feelings
of the boy and girl to be aroused has several advantages. Its effect is to cut
out a lot of the embarrassment, temptation and heartache which are common in the
western system of courtship and intimate relations before marriage.
The boy is expected to share with his parents certain priorities in the type of
girl he hopes to marry, and this is mentioned in a Hadith related by Abu
Hurairah in which the Prophet (saws) advised:
A women may be sought for her wealth, her birth, her beauty or he
religious character. But do look for the religious women. And if you do it for
any other consideration, your hands be rubbed in dirt! [Bukhari and
Muslim]
In other words the key to success in marriage is seen as the moral quality of
the partner. The ideal Muslim bridegroom therefore goes into marriage with the
responsible attitude of a person establishing a family on the best possible
foundation of love and mutual compassion,

Bismillah [IslamCity] Acts of worship which are prescribed on Fridays

2008-12-02 Thread Shahid

Acts of worship which are prescribed on Fridays

There are many ahaadeeth which speak of its virtues. See Question no. 9211.

There are many acts of worship which are prescribed for the Muslim to do on
this day. These include:

1 - Salaat al-Jumu'ah (Friday prayer)

Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): O you who believe (Muslims)!
When the call is proclaimed for the Salaah (prayer) on Friday (Jumu'ah prayer),
come to the remembrance of Allaah [Jumu'ah religious talk (Khutbah) and Salaah
(prayer)] and leave off business (and every other thing). That is better for
you if you did but know! [al-Jumu'ah 62:9]

Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in Zaad al-Ma'aad (1/376):

Friday prayer is one of the most important obligations in Islam, and one of the
greatest gatherings of the Muslims. Gathering on Friday is more important and
more obligatory than any other gathering apart from 'Arafah. Whoever neglects
it, Allaah will place a seal on his heart.

It was narrated from Abu'l-Ja'd al-Damari - who was a companion of the Prophet
(peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) - that the Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Whoever neglects three Jumu'ahs, Allaah
will place a seal on his heart. Narrated by Abu Dawood, 1052; classed as
saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 928

It was narrated from 'Abd-Allaah ibn 'Umar and Abu Hurayrah that they heard the
Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say on the
minbar:

Let people stop neglecting Jumu'ah, or Allaah will place a seal on their
hearts, then they will be among those who are neglectful. Narrated by
Muslim, 865.

2 - Making a lot of du'aa'.

On this day there is a time when a person's Lord will answer his du'aa' - by
Allaah's leave.

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the
Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) mentioned
Friday and said: On this day there is a time when no Muslim stands and prays,
asking Allaah for something, but Allaah will grant him it - and he gestured
with his hands to indicate how short that time is. Narrated by al-Bukhaari,
893; Muslim, 852

3 - Reading Soorat al-Kahf.

It was narrated from Abu Sa'eed al-Khduri that the Prophet (peace and blessings
of Allaah be upon him) said: Whoever reads Soorat al-Kahf on Friday, he will
be illuminated with light between the two Fridays. Narrated by al-Haakim;
classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb, 836

4 - Sending a lot of blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah
be upon him).

It was narrated from Aws ibn Aws that the Prophet (peace and blessings of
Allaah be upon him) said: The best of your days is Friday. On that day Adam
(peace be upon him) was created; on that day he died; on that day the Trumpet
will be blown; and on that day all of creation will swoon. So send a great deal
of blessings upon me, for your blessings will be shown to me. They said, O
Messenger of Allaah, how will our blessings upon you be shown to you when you
have turned to dust? He said, Allaah has forbidden the earth to consume the
bodies of the Prophets, peace be upon them.   Narrated by Abu Dawood, 1047;
classed as saheeh by Ibn al-Qayyim in his comments on Sunan Abi Dawood, 4/273;
classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 925.

He said in 'Awn al-Ma'bood:

Friday is singled out because it is the best of days and the chosen day. So
there is an advantage to sending blessings upon him on that day that is not
present on any other day.

Along with these virtues and acts of worship, the Prophet (peace and blessings
of Allaah be upon him) forbade singling out Friday for fasting, or singling out
the night of Friday for doing acts of worship that are not narrated in
sharee'ah.

It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of
Allaah be upon him) said: Do not single out the night of Friday for qiyaam
al-layl, and do not single out the day of Friday for fasting, unless that is
part of the habitual fasting of any one of you. (Narrated by Muslim, 1144).

Al-San'aani said in Subul al-Salaam:

This hadeeth indicates that it is haraam to single out the night of Friday for
worship or reading Qur'aan that is not one's regular custom, apart from that
which is indicated in the texts, such as reading Soorat al-Kahf.

Al-Nawawi said: This hadeeth clearly states that it is forbidden to single out
the night of Friday for prayer or the day of Friday for fasting. It is agreed
(among the scholars) that this is makrooh.

He also said: The scholars said that the reason why it is forbidden to single
out Friday for fasting is that Friday is a day of du'aa', dhikr and worship,
such as ghusl, going early to the prayer, waiting for the prayer, listening to
the khutbah and reciting a lot of dhikr afterwards, because Allaah says
(interpretation of the meaning):

Then when the (Jumu'ah) Salaah (prayer) is

Bismillah [IslamCity] Arab Americans angry over Obama’s new affinity for Jewish people.

The diversity parade comes to a screeching halt

by Kyle Rogers

With the naming of Congressman Rahm Emanuel as Obama’s White House Chief of
Staff, for some, not all, the euphoria turned to despair. - James Zogby,
president of the Arab American Institute.

CofCC.org has been reporting on the bizarre turn of events concerning the
complete reversal of support for Obama in much of the foreign media. From Egypt
to the Philippines, major newspapers went from enthusiastically pro-Obama to
denouncing Obama in only one day. The flip began when Obama appointed Rahm
Emanuel as White House Chief of Staff. Emanuel is considered a hardline Zionist
and was one of the most enthusiastic supporters of the Iraq war among Democrats
in the US congress.

The Obama campaign was enthusiastically supported throughout the Muslim world..
Even the destitute Gaza Strip collected $33,000 in donations for the Obama
campaign.

Meanwhile major newspapers in Israel, some of which actually endorsed John
McCain, are gleefully celebrating Obama’s apparent new found affinity for
Israel and the Jewish people. One Israel newspaper ran the headline “Jews in
the Palace of the King” just the other day, referring to Obama’s
disproportionately large number of Jewish appointees.

Obama has not even been sworn in, but leading papers across the Arab, Central
Asian, and South Pacific Asian world are denouncing him with terms like “pawn
of Israel,” “puppet of the Israeli foreign lobby,” ect.

James Zogby, a Zogby Polling Company analyst and president of the Arab American
Institute, has written a column defending Obama for appointing Emanuel. However
he admits that Arabs living in the United States are deeply disappointing and
feel betrayed after having campaigned for Obama.
