Bismillah [IslamCity] Obama Blind to Muslims

2009-01-27 Thread Shahid

Even Muslims not easily swayed by al-Qaeda rhetoric have their doubts
about Obama. The misgivings have been rising after he remained mostly silent
during Israel’s offensive in Gaza. Obama expressed concern about civilian
casualties, but otherwise deferred to Bush — a decision some observers
interpreted as a sign of support for Israel.
“Despite all the idealism and multiculturalism at his disposal, Barack
Obama will not change the world,” the Pakistani newspaper Dawn editorialized
Sunday. “The liberals who voted for him include millions of American Jews, and
as such Obama can’t be expected to open America’s eyes to the reality of
Palestine.”

“The Israeli attack in Gaza was meant to destroy Hamas and tie Obama up
like Gulliver,” says Michael Scheuer, former head of the CIA’s bin Laden unit
and an outspoken critic of the U.S.’s pro-Israel policies. “Israel sought to
destroy a democratically elected government, and America supported the action —
Bush via words, Obama via his silence. I happen to think the Israelis had the
right to defend themselves,” he said, adding that they ruined any chance of
Obama starting out on “a new foot vis-(à-vis) the Muslim world.”

Even so, it would be hard for Obama to be less popular than Bush in the
Muslim world.

During his farewell trip to Iraq last month, Bush was nearly beaned in
the face by a shoe flung by an irate local journalist.

“Obama should change U.S. policies,” says Mian Muhammad Asif, who owns an
Islamabad business selling water purifiers. “America must learn some lessons
from the past. There should be no more shoe-throwing.”

Bismillah [IslamCity] ADVICE TO THE MUSLIM UMMAH

2009-01-27 Thread Abu Jumanah
An Advice to the Muslim Ummah From Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzan [1]

At this present time (today), the Muslims are suffering from evil attacks from
the overpowering enemy (forces) from all sides, from the war in Afghanistan,
the war in Iraq, the war in Palestine, (and) the war in Lebanon. And that which
we hear and read from our preachers (khateebs) and writers (journalists), all
of it is condemnation of the actions of the enemies. And there is no doubt in
(any of) these issues. However, are the disbelieving enemy affected by these
raised voices? The disbelievers, from long ago, have wanted to wipe out Islaam
from existence, as Allaah (Ta'aala) says:
{And they will never cease fighting you until they turn you back from your
religion (Islaamic Monotheism) if they can}, [Soorah al-Baqarah, Aayah 217].
But the issue is, what have the Muslims prepared in response to them and in
preventing their attacks?
Indeed it is obligatory upon them, firstly,to: Look at their current state in
terms of their religion and their adherence to it, for indeed that which has
afflicted them is as a result of negligence in (practising) their religion. And
in a narration (it is said): ((If the one who knows Me is disobedient to Me, I
will cause the one who does not know me to overpower him (in authority))). And
what happened to the Banee Israa.eel (Israelites) when they left their religion
and caused mischief on the Earth, Allaah caused them to be overpowered (in
authority) by the disbelieving Magians (fire worshippers) and:
{they entered the very innermost parts of your homes}as Allaah has mentioned at
the beginning of Soorah al-Israa., Aayah 005].
And Allaah threatened them, that if they were to return (back) to their ways,
then He will punish them. So it is imperative that we assess our current
affairs and rectify that which is corrupt from our affairs with regard to the
religion, for (certainly) the Sunnah of Allaah does not change. And Allaah
(Ta'aala) says:
{Verily, Allaah will not change the (good) condition of a people as long as
they do not change their state (of goodness) themselves (by committing sins and
by being ungrateful and disobedient to Allaah). But when Allaah wills a
people's punishment, there can be no turning it back, and they will find
besides Him no protector}, [Soorah ar-Ra'd, Aayah 11]
Secondly,it is (incumbent) upon us to prepare ourselves with that which we can
confront our enemies with, as Allaah (Ta'aala) says:
{And make ready against them all you can of power, including steeds of war
(tanks, planes, missiles, artillery) to threaten thereby the enemy of Allaah
and your enemy, and others besides them, whom you may not know, (but) whom
Allaah does know}, [Soorah al-Anfaal, Aayah 60].
And that is by putting together (preparing) armies and (acquiring) suitable
weapons and (thereby attaining) defensive strength/power.
Thirdly, the unification of the Muslims upon the (firm) belief of Tawheed and
ruling in accordance with the Sharee'ah (of Allaah) and (firm) adherence to
Islaam in all our affairs from (our) dealings and (good) manners and ruling by
the Book of Allaah and commanding the good and forbidding the evil, and calling
to (the Path of) Allaah upon (sound) knowledge, insight and sincerity.
Allaah (Ta'aala) says:
{And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allaah (i.e. this Qur.aan),
and be not divided among yourselves}, [Soorah Aal-'Imraan, Aayah 103] and He
(Ta'aala) says:
{and do not dispute (with one another) lest you lose courage and your strength
departs, and be patient. Surely, Allaah is with those who are as-Saabiroon (the
patient)}, [Soorah Al-Anfaal, Aayah 46]
So it is not possible to unite whilst there are differences in 'aqeedah and in
(our) aims and goals, until the 'aqeedah is correct and the goals are one
(namely) for the victory of the Truth and the raising of the Word of Allaah
(above all else); If only the preachers and advisors in their speeches and
advice would concentrate on these issues (just) as they are (concentrating on)
criticising the attacking enemy.
The evil aims of the enemy must be explained (exposed), and that the weakening
of the Muslims and the grabbing of their wealth and possessions are not (the)
only intended (aims), rather, on a major level it is intended to corrupt their
'aqeedah and (cause) their turning away from their religion until they have
destroyed them to pieces.
And this is what I wished to warn about with regards to this catastrophe.

Galenus saw a fool hanging on with his hands to the collar of a learned man

Two wise men do not contend and quarrel
Nor does a scholar fight with a contemptible fellow.
If an ignorant man in his rudeness speaks harshly
An intelligent man tenderly reconciles his heart.
Two pious men keep a hair between them untorn
And so does a mild with a headstrong man.
If however both sides are fools
If there be a chain they will snap it.
 An ill-humoured man insulted someone.
He bore it and replied: 'O man of happy issue,

Obama 'change' policy absent in speech
 Wed, 21 Jan 2009 11:05:18 GMT
President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle at the Inaugural Parade after
the swearing-in ceremony in Washington.
The inauguration speech of the 44th president of the United States, Barack
Obama has offered no clues about his foreign policy of change.

During his inauguration ceremony on Tuesday the first African-American to be
elected as the occupant of the White House called on Americans to help him with
the daunting challenges that lied ahead.

Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin
again the work of remaking America, Obama told hundreds of thousands gathered
to see the festivities in Washington DC.

Focusing more on domestic issues most notably the ailing US economy, Obama
presented a typical 'no drama Obama' speech.

Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on
the part of some, he said.

There was little mention of his intentions on the foreign policy scale.

Know that America is a friend of each nation and every man, woman, and child
who seeks a future of peace and dignity, and that we are ready to lead once
more, the former Illinois senator said.

In his speech, Obama addressed the Muslim world directly, calling for a new
way forward, based on mutual interest and mutual respect.

Obama refrained, however, from mentioning the plight of the 1.5 million Gazans
who were recently subject to Israeli military operations.

On the war on terror, Obama echoed his predecessor George W. Bush with
different words.

We will not apologize for our way of life, nor will we waver in its defense,
and for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and
slaughtering innocents, we say to you now that our spirit is stronger and
cannot be broken; you cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you, he said.

Hi All

To get a visual feeling of what it means for a school -- sheltering civilians
-- to be subjected by Israeli white phosphorous bombs ... rain of
inextinguishable fire balls falling from the sky in all directions,
deliberately designed to cause maximum death and destruction.

No wonder it is illegal to use white phosphorous as a weapon of war,
particularly in civilian settings, let alone a UN shelter!

In this criminal attack children were killed, one mother lost her legs, and
dozens of children and women were injured --(some from inhaling the phosphorous
smoke -- the effects of which will only be revealed with time )

Bismillah [IslamCity] ruling: Taking lost property in the Haram

2009-01-27 Thread Shahid

Question # 126502: It is permissible to take lost property in the Haram
if it is small

Question:

I found some lost property in the Haram in Makkah, approximately ten to fifteen
riyals. What is the ruling on that?.

Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.
Insignificant lost property has no value; if one announces it, there is nothing
wrong with that, and if one consumes it, there is nothing wrong with that, and
if one gives it in charity, there is nothing wrong with that, because it is
insignificant and may not be worth announcing it. Ten, twenty or thirty riyals
and so on, nowadays such lost property is not important, so if you give it in
charity on behalf of its owner, there is nothing wrong with it, and if you use
it there is nothing wrong with it, and if you leave it there is nothing wrong
with it. End quote.

Gaza under Israeli strikes
Israeli military admits that it has used phosphorus bombs in a recent military
campaign against the Gaza Strip which lasted three weeks.

According to a military report, Israeli forces pounded the residential areas
in the Gaza Strip with at least twenty phosphorus bombs during the offensive.

White phosphorus, classified as a 'chemical weapon' by the US intelligence, is
an incendiary material that causes horrific burns, severe injuries or death
when it comes in contact with skin.

Under the Geneva Treaty of 1980, the use of white phosphorous as a weapon is
prohibited.

Prior to the recent report, the Israeli army had been denying the use of the
chemical against civilians despite the presence of photographic evidence to the
contrary.

Human Rights Watch had warned Israel not to use white phosphorus in Gaza,
saying its researchers had witnessed the use of the substance by the Israeli
military in the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, the UN nuclear watchdog said on Wednesday that it would open an
investigation into Israel's alleged use of depleted uranium during its Gaza
offensive.

The UN body responded after Arab nations sent a letter to the Head of the
International Atomic Energy Agency, Mohamed ElBaradei, asking for a probe into
the issue.

The Israeli air, ground and naval strikes on the civilians in the besieged
Gaza Strip have left at least 1,330 dead - 460 of whom were children - and
5,450 others wounded.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Moroccan Jews condemn Israel over Gaza

2009-01-27 Thread Shahid
Zionist controlled mainstream media never showed the Jews protesting.

Moroccan Jews condemn Israel over Gaza
Fri, 16 Jan 2009

Jewish communities in Morocco have condemned Israel's deadly military campaign
in the Gaza Strip, calling for an end to the violence.

For more than two weeks the residents of Gaza, sitting targets, are suffering
under the bombs, the widespread destruction, the lack of food and water. The
pictures of Palestinian children torn from life are unbearable, the Council of
Jewish Communities in Morocco (CCIM) said in a Thursday statement sent to AFP.

We, Moroccan Jews, are in solidarity with the innocent victims who are
suffering, in Gaza and elsewhere. No just and viable solution can be found
through force, the council added.

The director of the Foundation of Judeo-Moroccan Cultural Heritage Simon Levy
also said that the unjustified slaughter going on the Palestinian region was
'more than deplorable.'

It's horrible and it is not like that that I see Judaism, he added, urging
international organizations to intervene and resolve the crisis.

The condemnation from a community of over 5000 Jews came just a day after
hundreds of Jewish Americans surrounded the entrance of the Israeli consulate
in Los Angeles to protest Israel's offensive in Gaza.

On Monday, many other Jews communities staged similar protests around the world
calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

Jewish groups in Turkey, Britain, Australia, and Canada organized
demonstrations in favor of peace in the Gaza Strip.

Reports indicate that Israeli Jews in Jerusalem (al-Quds) and Tel Aviv have
also staged several protests in the past few days, calling for an end to the
offensive against Gaza.

The Jewish demonstrators, who were demanding an end to 'Israeli apartheid' in
the Palestinian coastal strip, chained themselves to the entrance of the
Consulate and blocked the driveway to the parking area.

In another protest in Manhattan, New York, Rabbi Yisroel Weiss of the orthodox
Neturei Karta movement also attacked Israel for its operation in Gaza.

We want the world to know that Zionism is stealing the identity of the Torah
and of the Jewish people, said the well-known Rabbi.

The Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, however, has responded to world-wide
protests against the regime's military onslaught in Gaza by expressing concern
over what she has called 'a wave of anti-Semitism'.

This is while a third week of Israeli attacks come to an end in Gaza with over
6000 Palestinian casualties, including 1100 lost lives.

Bismillah [IslamCity] Pop Culture penetrating Shia Islam!!!!!

2009-01-27 Thread Mustafa Mawjee

Pop Culture in the Name of Islam
By - YVONNE RIDLEY

I FEEL very uncomfortable about the pop culture which is growing around some
so-called Nasheed artists. Of course I use the term ''Nasheed artists'' very
lightly. Islamic ''boy bands'' and Muslim ''popstars'' would probably be more
appropriate.

Eminent scholars throughout history have often opined that music is haram, and
I don't recall reading anything about the companions whooping it up to the
sound of music. Don't get me wrong. I''m all for people letting off steam, but
in a dignified manner and one which is appropriate to their surroundings.

The reason I am expressing concern is that just a few days ago at a venue in
Central London, sisters went wild in the aisles as some form of pop-mania swept
through the concert venue. And I'm not just talking about silly, little girls
who don't know any better; I am talking about sisters in their 20's, 30's and
40's, who squealed, shouted, swayed and danced.

Even the security guys who looked more like pipe cleaners than bulldozers were
left looking dazed and confused as they tried to stop hijabi sisters from
standing on their chairs. Of course the stage groupies did not help at all as
they waved and encouraged the largely female Muslim crowd to 'get up and sing
along.' (They're called ''Fluffers'' in lap-dancing circles!)

The source of all this adulation was British-born Sami Yusuf, who is so proud
of his claret-colored passport that he wants us all to wave the Union Jacks.
I'm amazed he didn't encourage his fans to sing 'Land of Hope and Glory.'
Brother Sami asked his audience to cheer if they were proud to be British, and
when they responded loudly, he said he couldn't hear them and asked them to
cheer again.

How can anyone be proud to be British? Britain is the third most hated country
in the world. The Union Jack is drenched in the blood of our brothers and
sisters across Iraq, Afghanistan, and Palestine. Our history is steeped in the
blood of colonialism, rooted in slavery, brutality, torture, and oppression.
And we haven't had a decent game of soccer since we lifted the World Cup in
1966.

Apparently Sami also said one of the selling points of Brand UK was having
Muslims in the Metropolitan Police Force! Astaghfur'Allah! Dude, these are the
same cops who have a shoot-to-kill policy and would have gunned down a Muslim
last year if they could tell the difference between a Bangladeshi and a
Brazilian. This is the same police force that has raided more than 3000 Muslim
homes in Britain since 9/11. What sort of life is there on Planet Sami, I
wonder? If he is so proud to be British, why is he living in the great Middle
Eastern democracy of Egypt?

Apparently the sort of hysteria Sami helped encourage is also in America, and
if it is happening on both sides of the Atlantic, then it must be creeping
around the globe and poisoning the masses. Islamic boy bands like 786 and Mecca
2 Medina are also the subject of the sort of female adulation you expect to see
on American Pop Idol or the X-Factor. Surely Islamic events should be promoting
restrained and more sedate behaviour.

Do we blame the out-of-control sisters? Or do we blame the organizers for
allowing this sort of excessive behaviour which demeans Islam? Or do we blame
the artists themselves? If those Nasheeds had sisters running in the streets
whooping and dancing, however, the Nasheeds may be encouraged because of haram
activity surrounding them.

Quite frankly, I really don't know how anyone in the Ummah can really let go
and scream and shout with joy at pleasure domes when there is so much brutality
and suffering going on in the world today.

Bismillah [IslamCity] The myth of Israel's strategic genius

The myth of Israel's strategic genius

Affairs at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government

Many supporters of Israel will not criticize its behavior, even when it is
engaged in brutal and misguided operations like the recent onslaught on Gaza.
In addition to their understandable reluctance to say anything that might aid
Israel's enemies, this tendency is based in part on the belief that Israel's
political and military leaders are exceptionally smart and thoughtful
strategists who understand their threat environment and have a history of
success against their adversaries. If so, then it makes little sense for
outsiders to second-guess them.

This image of Israeli strategic genius has been nurtured by Israelis over the
years and seems to be an article of faith among neoconservatives and other
hardline supporters of Israel in the United States. It also fits nicely with
the wrongheaded but still popular image of Israel as the perennial David facing
a looming Arab Goliath; in this view, only brilliant strategic thinkers could
have consistently overcome the supposedly formidable Arab forces arrayed
against them.

The idea that Israelis possess some unique strategic acumen undoubtedly
reflects a number of past military exploits, including the decisive victories
in the 1948 War of Independence, the rapid conquest of the Sinai in 1956, the
daredevil capture of Adolf Eichmann in 1960, the stunning Israeli triumph at
the beginning of the 1967 Six Day War, and the intrepid hostage rescue at
Entebbe in 1976.

These tactical achievements are part of a larger picture, however, and that
picture is not a pretty one. Israel has also lost several wars in the past --
none of them decisively, of course -- and its ability to use force to achieve
larger strategic objectives has declined significantly over time. This is why
Israelis frequently speak of the need to restore their deterrent; they are
aware that occasional tactical successes have not led to long-term improvements
in their overall security situation. The assault on Gaza is merely the latest
illustration of this worrisome tendency.

What does the record show?

Back in 1956, Israel, along with Britain and France, came up with a harebrained
scheme to seize the Suez Canal and topple Nasser's regime in Egypt. (This was
after an Israeli raid on an Egyptian army camp in Gaza helped convince Nasser
to obtain arms from the Soviet Union). Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion
initially hoped that Israel would be allowed to conquer and absorb the West
Bank, parts of the Sinai, and portions of Lebanon, but Britain and France
quickly scotched that idea. The subsequent attack was a military success but a
strategic failure: the invaders were forced to disgorge the lands they seized
while Nasser's prestige soared at home and across the Arab world, fueling
radicalism and intensifying anti-Israel sentiments throughout the region. The
episode led Ben-Gurion to conclude that Israel should forego additional
attempts to expand its borders -- which is why he opposed taking the West Bank
in 1967 -- but his successors did not follow his wise advice.

Ten years later, Israel's aggressive policies toward Syria and Jordan helped
precipitate the crisis that led to the Six Day War. The governments of Egypt,
Syria, the USSR and the United States also bear considerable blame for that
war, though it was Israel's leaders who chose to start it, even though they
recognized that their Arab foes knew they were no match for the IDF and did not
intend to attack Israel. More importantly, after seizing the West Bank, Golan
Heights and Gaza Strip during the war, Israeli leaders decided to start
building settlements and eventually incorporate them into a greater Israel.
Thus, 1967 marks the beginning of Israel's settlements project, a decision that
even someone as sympathetic to Israel as Leon Wieseltier has described as a
moral and strategic blunder of historic proportions. Remarkably, this
momentous decision was never openly debated within the Israeli body politic.

With Israeli forces occupying the Sinai peninsula, Egypt launched the so-called
War of Attrition in October 1968 in an attempt to get it back. The result was a
draw on the battlefield and the two sides eventually reached a ceasefire
agreement in August 1970. The war was a strategic setback for Israel, however,
because Egypt and its Soviet patron used the ceasefire to complete a missile
shield along the Suez Canal that could protect Egyptian troops if they attacked
across the Canal to regain the Sinai. American and Israeli leaders did not
recognize this important shift in the balance of power between Israel and Egypt
and remained convinced that Egypt had no military options. As a result, they
ignored

Bismillah [IslamCity] Hadith:Remember Allah :Two Statements Heavy in the Scales and Dear to The Merciful

2009-01-27 Thread Hadith Share
Abu Hurairah (Radhiallaho anha) reported:

The Messenger of Allah (Sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said,

There are two statements that are light for the tongue to remember, heavy in
the Scales and are dear to the Merciful: `Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi,
Subhan-Allahil-Azim [Glory be to Allah and His is the praise, (and) Allah, the
Greatest is free from imperfection)'.''

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Commentary:
This Hadith affirms that man's actions carry weight. On the Day of Judgement,
his actions will be cast into the Balance. At that time Allah will endow these
actions with weight, or according to some scholars, those records which
register man's actions will be weighed. This is quite possible for the reason
that Almighty Allah is Capable of weighing things without even their physical
form. This discussion apart, when actions will be cast into the Balance, the
formula mentioned in the Hadith, the utterance of which is very easy, will
prove weighty. Every Muslim should make it a practice to repeat them frequently.

Riyad-us-Saliheen – Hadith No : 1408.

{Invite (mankind, O Muhammad ) to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islam) with wisdom
(i.e. with the Divine Inspiration and the Qur'an) and fair preaching, and argue
with them in a way that is better. Truly, your Lord knows best who has gone
astray from His Path, and He is the Best Aware of those who are guided.} (Holy

{And who is better in speech than he who [says: My Lord is Allah (believes in
His Oneness), and then stands straight (acts upon His Order), and] invites
(men) to Allah's (Islamic Monotheism), and does righteous deeds, and says: I

The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: By Allah, if
Allah guides one person by you, it is better for you than the best types of
camels. [al-Bukhaaree, Muslim]

The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also said, Whoever
calls to guidance will have a reward similar to the reward of the one who
follows him, without the reward of either of them being lessened at all.
