Israel's three-week war killed more than 1330 Palestinians, mostly women and children, damaged 14,000 homes, destroyed 219 factories and damaged 15 of Gaza's 27 hospitals. Robinson's mail drew accusations of anti-Semitism from two national Jewish groups and triggered a campus investigation. I was shocked, said Rebecca Joseph, one of his Jewish students. He overstepped his boundaries as a professor. He has his own freedom of speech, but he doesn't have the freedom to send his students his own opinion that is so strong. Robinson, a UC Santa Barbara university professor for nine years, disagrees. The whole nature of academic freedom is to introduce students to controversial material, to provoke students to think and make students uncomfortable. He has hired an attorney while a hearing was scheduled on May 14. Support Despite the controversy, many students and faculty members have voiced support for Robinson. I don't think Bill Robinson's e-mail is anti-Semitic in any way, Harold Marcuse, a Jewish professor who teaches about Holocaust at UC Santa Barbara, told the LA Times. I think criticism of Israel is OK. Marcuse defended the material of Robinson's e-mails as appropriate for the campus. It's something I could have used in a course. Some of the university's students formed a group, the Committee to Defend Academic Freedom at UCSB, to defend Robinson and academic freedom. Another group, the California Scholars for Academic Freedom which represents 100 professors at 20 college campuses, sent letters of support to the Jewish professor. The group stressed that the accusations leveled against Robinson were aiming to silence criticism of Israeli policies and practices. Internationally renowned author and linguistics professor Noam Chomsky added his voice to international scholars demanding the dismissal of anti-Semitism charges against Robinson. They try to label any criticism as anti-Semitic, but they never respond to the criticism itself, because they can't. Dubai detains 79 for indecent behavior on beaches By BARBARA SURK, Associated Press Writer - July 15, 2008 Westerners were getting too racy on the beaches of this Persian Gulf tourist haven, and a police crackdown on topless sunbathing, nudity and other indecent behavior has resulted in 79 arrests in recent days. Undercover officers are strolling the sand while others stand guard in new watchtowers to enforce the social mores of this Muslim city-state, which is a booming business center that is attracting growing hordes of foreign tourists. Authorities said they began the decency campaign after police detained a British man and a woman who were having sex on one of Dubai's sprawling beaches earlier this month. Over the past two weeks, police have detained a total of 79 people whose behavior was disturbing families enjoying the beach, Zuhair Haroun, a spokesman for Dubai's Criminal Investigation Department, said Monday. First-time offenders may be issued a warning, but if caught twice, tourists could be referred to the public prosecutor for possible criminal charges, authorities said. Thousands of European and Asian expatriates live and work in Dubai, where native Emiratis make up only about 20 percent of the estimated 1.2 million residents. Shopping malls and fast food restaurants have replaced traditional Arab houses, and English has overtaken Arabic as the emirate's lingua franca. Many Emiratis and Arabs visiting from other Persian Gulf countries increasingly feel Dubai's ambition to become a cosmopolitan metropolis and tourist destination is overrunning their own traditions and contradict what they feel is culturally acceptable. Unlike elsewhere in the conservative Persian Gulf, tourists in Dubai are often seen wearing skimpy bikinis on public beaches and walk the city's streets in shorts. Alcohol is freely available in hotel bars and restaurants in this regional businesses and entertainment hub. While pursuing the police crackdown, Dubai has embarked on a public awareness campaign to remind its Western visitors and foreign residents that the city may have flashy hotels and glitzy skyscrapers but it also is a Muslim country with traditionally conservative values. The city is installing signs warning tourists in Arabic, English and several other languages not to sunbathe topless or change clothes in public, said Abdullah Mohammed Rafia, an official with the Dubai Municipality whose office is overseeing the public awareness campaign. Authorities are taking action in response to numerous complaints filed by people who visit the city's beaches, Rafia said. Complaints have ranged from families offended by displays of nudity to women sunbathers who say groups of men stare at them while at the beach. The police campaign also will target people who harass beachgoers with acts deemed offensive, immoral or disrespectful, including loitering and voyeurism, said Dubai's acting police chief, Maj. Gen. If a country is Muslim, shouldn't it be regulated by Shar'iah law? Shouldn't obvious sins be evident and eliminated? Why allow alcohol to be served in nightclubs that promote Western ideals? why are women in Dubai allowed to bare their bodies in bikinis and shorts? This article is a classic example of crying over spilt milk or closing the barn door after the horse has already gotten out. When a Muslim society opens doors and makes allowances for non-Muslims to infiltrate bringing their own values or lack of values in, you have to question is the gain of money worth the stigma branded on ethics? Halilovic is familiar with the allegations and the usual accompanying thought patterns: Wahhabite equals al-Qaida, which equals a worldwide terror network. He says he has nothing to do with that, but he cannot forbid a Muslim from worshiping in my mosque according to his own rites. This article will examine two types of jihadi security training materials. The first training episode, published by al-Qaeda in the South Arabian Peninsula, tutors jihadis on ways to resist interrogation. The group published three training episodes entitled Triumph over Interrogators in their monthly e-magazine, Sada al-Malahim (malahem.maktoobblog.com January, February, March, 2009). A second security training episode was prepared by an Ingush jihadi nicknamed Abu Anas of Khacharoy (it does not appear that this individual is the same as Commander Abu Anas [a.k.a. Muhannad, a.k.a. Khalid Yusuf Muhammad al-Emitat], an Arab field commander operating in Chechnya). This posting discusses intelligence and security techniques in an article entitled Security Advice from an Ingush Jihadi. The material is based on the experiences of Salafi-Jihadi fighters operating in the Russian North Caucasus republic of Ingushetia. Triumph over Interrogators The anti-interrogation lessons, prepared by an al-Qaeda operative nicknamed Abdulaziz al-Abini, discuss two methods of interrogation aimed at eliciting confessions and intelligence from imprisoned jihadis and ways to counter them. The first method is psychological manipulation and the second method is physical torture. The lesson starts with the psychological methods used by security forces, which begin on day one of imprisonment when the jihadi is restrained with chains as a show of authority. This is typically followed by further manipulative techniques: •Intimidation versus Endearment - This method is applied by two interrogators. One plays the good guy and the other the bad guy. The good-guy interrogator will promise to help the jihadi if the latter confesses and provides intelligence on the terror cell. The training warns jihadis not to fall for the false promises of this interrogator. The bad-guy interrogator will use obscene language while threatening the jihadi with all kinds of torture. The counter-measure suggested by the training is to simply ignore the interrogators' threats - easier said than done. •Empathy - Interrogators use empathy, pretending to care for the jihadi's fate in an attempt to build rapport with the subject. Building rapport achieves short-term and long-term objectives for security forces. The long-term objective is to recruit the jihadi and release him to penetrate the terror cell. Even though the technique is a very common and crucial instrument in counterterrorism operations, the training fails to explain how the jihadi is supposed to counter this technique. •Indifference - Leaving the imprisoned jihadi for long intervals without interrogation is another technique used by interrogators when no timely intelligence is required in the given case. In this case, the jihadi is instructed to pretend to be coping well with prison conditions and spend the time reciting the Holy Quran. •Exaggeration - The interrogators will question the jihadi about a very serious case, implying his involvement, such as a conspiracy to assassinate a head of a state. This technique is designed to manipulate the captive into confessing a lesser evil and to study his reactions when he is being honest and compare them to his reactions when he lies. To fend off this technique, the jihadi should answer sarcastically to all allegations. The training relates the experience of a fellow jihadi who was accused of involvement in the 9/11 attacks. The accused told his interrogators that he was in one of the planes used in the attacks. •Simplify - The interrogators try to convince the jihadi that his case is not serious, unless he keeps denying the charges. The training reminds the jihadi that denying the charges will not exacerbate the case legally. •Wear Out - The jihadi is repeatedly questioned about a single incident. •Insult - Obscene language may be used in the interrogation to break the jihadi's morale. Interrogators may curse God and religion to shake up the pious jihadi who is ordered by God not to tolerate blasphemy and to try and stop it in any way possible. In this case, the jihadi might think its better to confess than to let the blasphemy continue. •The Bombshell - After long sessions of trivial conversation, the interrogators will surprise the jihadi with questions related to terror activities, hoping to catch him off guard. The training relates other bombshell techniques from actual experience, such as awakening the suspect and immediately posing questions. •Uncertainty - The training warns the jihadi not to believe allegations that security forces have penetrated the terror cell using one of the amirs. Recognition Of Kosovo : No Good Reason To Deny Dhaka press has reported that the government is in dilemma over the issue of recognising Kosovo as the United States is trying to pursue Bangladesh for its recognition while Dhaka is focusing on strengthening its ties with Moscow in various areas including that of nuclear power plant. Foreign ministry officials said that Washington had been trying to pursue Dhaka for its support to the Muslim majority nation of the Balkan since Kosovo, which became independent after a brutal battle with Serbian forces. 'On the other hand, Russia, immediately after Kosovo's independence, formally requested Bangladesh not to recognise the tiny Balkan nation,' said an official.James F Moriarty, the US ambassador in Dhaka, on Monday once again approached Bangladesh to persuade it to recognise the Muslim majority of Balkan republic when he called on the foreign minister, Dipu Moni at the latter's office. He told reporters that he had again referred to the issue of recognition for Kosovo and requested Bangladesh to quickly review the issue and move forward with it positively, if possible. Moriarty said so far some 58 countries, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Malaysia and Turkey, had recoginsed the tiny country. Foreign minister, Dipu Moni told reporters that the issue was pending in the International Court of Justice upon the request of Serbia and the OIC as an organisation did not take any decision over the issue.'So we will take our decision taking into consideration the relevant developments as well as various aspects of the issue,' she said. We feel that there is no good reason to deny recognition of Kosova.It was under brutal suppression by Serbia and when the Kosovo Revolted Serbia used most inhuman methods to keep it under control.The brutality reached such proportion that at one point NATO intervened and thereby Kosova became independent. Russia has no good reason to interfere in the decision of Bangladesh .It was not Russian territory .Indeed Kosova is one of the worst examples of brutality which happened because of ethnic reason. Serbia is Slav and orthodox Christian on the other hand Kosovans are of Albanian origin and Muslims.We ask the government of Bangladesh to give immediate recognition to Kosova.

As per the media reports Purohit whose remand was taken from a designated court was examined by the detectives of the Special Crime unit of CBI to verify whether he played any important role in providing training to the cadre of Abhinav Bharat. The voluminous charge sheet Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) filed in September 2008 Malegaon blasts case named Purohit and Rakesh Dattatraya Dhawade among 14 others as accused. Dhawade had allegedly made arrangements and facilitated training to the accused persons in the Nanded 2006 bomb blasts. During Malegaon 2008 investigations for the first time the face of Hindu extremists was unveiled and it had raised question on the nature of the CBI probe in the Nanded explosions which may have ignored the early signs of self-styled right wing groups getting armed. However, with the decision of the present CBI director Ashwani Kumar the CBI reopened probe in Nanded blast case in December last year after the revelations of the Malegaon investigation. The reports quoting the sources in the central security agencies read that one of the accused, whose voice had to be restored after operating upon his vocal chords damaged in the blast, had told the investigators that the Bajrang Dal activist Naresh had allegedly planned three blasts taking place outside the mosques in Jalna and Parbani in Maharashtra in 2003 and 2004 respectively. Claiming that a very important call made from the mobile of Naresh was traced to a significant saffron outfit functionary in Ayodhya the central security agencies also asked CBI why the call details of his mobile were not investigated properly. After investigating the Nanded blasts case the CBI had filed a charge sheet on March 15, 2008 against ten people; some alleged associates of Bajrang Dal including Sanjay Chowdhury, Yogesh Deshpande, Maruti Wagah, Gunniraj Thakur and Mahesh Pandey besides the two who died in the explosion.
