Assalamu alaikum Here are some fatwas regarding sufism: Question : In the sufis thariqa' there was a term call syari'a,thariqa',haqiqa' and ma'rifah.Is this term really have been tought by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)to his companion according to the definition by the thariqa' it self. Answer : Praise be to Allaah. We must understand that the word al-soofiyyah (Sufism) refers to wearing woollen clothes [the Arabic word soof means wool] and nothing else. Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: The word al-soofiyyah (Sufism) refers to wearing woollen clothes; this is the correct meaning. It was said that it comes from the word safwat al-fuqaha (the elite of the fuqaha) or from Soofah ibn Add ibn Taanijah, an Arab tribe that was known for its asceticism, or from Ahl al-Suffah (poor Muslims in Madeenah at the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) who used to stay in the mosque), or from al-Safa (the mountain in Makkah), or from the word al-safwah (meaning elite), or from the phrase al-saff al-muqaddam bayna yaday Allaah (the foremost rank before Allaah). All of these views are weak (daeef); if any of them were true then the word would be saffi or safaai or safawi, not sufi. Majmoo al-Fataawa, 11/195 Sufism (tasawwuf) did not appear until after the first three generations which the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) praised when he said, The best of mankind is my generation, then those who come after them, then those who come after them (narrated by al-Bukhaari, 2652; Muslim, 2533; from the hadeeth of Ibn Masood). Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: With regard to the word soofiyyah (Sufism), it was not known during the first three generations, rather it became known after that. Majmoo al-Fataawa, 11/5 This tareeqah and its like are among the innovated ways that go against the Quraan and Sunnah and the way followed by the best generations. All the shaykhs of these tareeqahs have made up their own wirds (phrases to be uttered as dhikr), hizb (books of duaa to be read daily by their followers) and ways of worship by which each of them may be distinguished from the others; this goes against shareeah and divides the ummah. Allaah has blessed this ummah by perfecting its religion and completing His Favour upon it, so everyone who comes up with an act of worship or a way that was not brought by shareeah is effectively rejecting what Allaah has said and accusing the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) of betraying the trust. Along with this innovation of theirs, they may also be lying by claiming that they received their tareeqah from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), or that they are following the path and guidance of the Rightly-Guided Caliphs (al-khulafa al-raashideen). The scholars of the Standing Committee were asked: Is there any such thing in Islam as the numerous tareeqahs like the Shaadhilyyah, Khalwatiyyah etc? If there is such a thing, what is the evidence for that? What is the meaning of the verses in which Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): And verily, this is My straight path, so follow it, and follow not (other) paths, for they will separate you away from His path. This He has ordained for you that you may become AlMuttaqoon (the pious) [al-Anaam 6:153] And upon Allaah is the responsibility to explain the Straight Path. But there are ways that turn aside (such as Paganism, Judaism, Christianity). And had He willed, He would have guided you all (mankind) [al-Nahl 16:9] What are the ways that separate people from the path of Allaah, and what is the way of Allaah? What is the meaning of the hadeeth narrated by Ibn Masood, according to which the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) drew a line and said, This is the path of guidance, then he drew lines to its right and another to its left and said, These are other paths and on each path there is a devil calling people to it? They answered: There is no such thing in Islam as the tareeqahs that you mentioned, or anything else like them. What there is in Islam is what is indicated by the two verses and the hadeeth that you quoted, and what was indicated by the hadeeth in which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: The Jews split into seventy-one sects, and the Christians split into seventy-two sects. My ummah will split into seventy-three sects, all of which will be in Hell except one. It was asked, Who are they, O Messenger of Allaah? He said, Those who follow the same path as I and my companions are on today. And he (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, A group among my ummah will continue to follow the truth and to be victorious, and they will not be harmed by those who forsake them or oppose them, until the command of Allaah comes to pass when they are like that. I will put Ahmed Kutt's statement next to a sahih hadith of the Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa salam and tell me what you understand:It is absurd for anyone to suggest that Islam advocates killing people who choose to leave Islam. To kill anyone who chooses to follow a religion other than Islam is against the fundamental teachings of the Qur'an. And it was proven that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Whoever changes his religion, execute him. Narrated by al-Bukhaari in his Saheeh. What this hadeeth means is that whoever leaves Islam and changes to another religion and persists in that and does not
repent, is to be executed. It was also proven that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: It is not permissible to shed the blood of a person who bears witness that there is no god but Allaah and that I am the Messenger of Allaah except in three cases: a life for a life, a previously-married person who commits adultery, and one who leaves Islam and forsakes the jamaaah. Brother, as your sister in islam I urge you to take great caution when assuming by saying things about Allah.
Firstly, are you more knowledgeable about the book of Allah or are the sahaba more knowledgeable than you?
For suratul Ahzab, verse 59, in which Allah tells the Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa salam to tell his wives, daughters and wives of the Believers to draw over them their jalabeeb.
In Ibn Katheer's tafseer, it clearly explains that Ibn Masoud, Ibn Abbas, Obaidah, Qutadah, Al-Hasan Al-Basri, Saeed Bin Jubair, Umm Salama the Prophet's wife, all of these great sahaba and tabieen explained this format as the Abayah that the women go out with placing it from the top of their heads covering everything including the face.
It explains it clearly brother. As a matter of fact, in almost every Muslim nation, all women were covered from head to toe, in black. Even in Bosnia, my best friend is Bosnian, and she told me that her grandmother used to wear full hijab, niqab, until the communist era.
I am reading a book called "Awdatul Hijab" [The Return of the Hijab] by Sheikh Ismail al-Muqadim. It is in three large volumes. The first volume speaks about how women were dressed all the way till the early 1900's.This reduction and elimination of a woman's hijab is a recent phenomenon.
So brother, when you are saying that whoever says that covering the face is mandatory is lying about Allah, you are actually claiming that the sahaba, the wives of the Prophet sallallallahu alayhe wa salam, the tabieen, and most of our great scholars are lying about Allah.
I don't think so.
The strongest opinion is that covering the face is mandatory. I respect other scholars and what they say, but looking at the Quran, sunnah, tafseer, and the lives of the wives of the Prophet, the sahabiyaat, the tabieyaat, it shows that they all understood these verses to mean covering from head to toe.
As for silwar qamees, this is for inside the home, it is not sufficient for outside. I have many many good friends from Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, and they wear their silwas qamees in the homes, but never go out without their jilbaab. They diffrentiate between the religion and culture. They mention how many women in these regions are more concerned about culture and that is wrong.

Al-Hamdulillah, I do not apply my religion from my own opinions. I have studied about hijab extensively.
Allah clearly states in the Quran that the veil that a women puts over her head must also cover the chest area.
" Tell the Believing women to and to draw their veils over their Juyubihinna (meaning their shoulders and chest), and not to reveal their adornments.." Suratul Nur 31.
So, as you can see this is a command from Allah, the Lord of the Worlds and not a half-cooked opinion.
Covering the hair only while leavning the ears, neck, shoulders and chest exposed is NOT ACCEPTABLE with Allah.

Firstly, what veil are you talking about?
That sister was not wearing a veil. She was just covering her hair, and I have seen many many non-Muslims wear a head piece like this one.
The veil that Allah has legislated and imposed on the believing woman covers her who head, neck, shoulder and bossom areas as described in suratul nur.
Secondly, it is not an achievement for a Muslim women to become a TV news anchor. To be seen daily on a daily basis by men of all sorts, including the sick minded.
Is this what you would want for your daughter? That all men get the priveledge to stare at her face.
Allah knows what kind of sick society we live in today, and how men think.
In my opinion, this is in fact a step backwards from the advancement the Muslim world was seeing in terms of the return to the deen.
Please reflect upon this, and I ask Allah to guide you and me to a straight path.

I never said that the awrah of a woman is from the naval to the knee.
I said that the awrah of a woman infront of other women is from the awrah to the knee, but it is not the acceptable way of dressing. This awrah is such because of the excuse of breastfeeding that could be a hardship for a woman.
I supported the view with a hadith, in which the sheikh mentions the misconceptions that people make from this hadith.
The hadith below clearly states that the awrah of women infront of each other is from the naval to the knee. He did not say it is sufficient for her to cover from naval to the knee. He meant that a woman is not allowed to look at the awrah of another woman which is from the naval to the knee.
As for the awrah of a woman in public, then I am of the opnion that all the woman is awrah including her face, hands and feet.
This is because the hadith, "The woman is awrah" did not exclude anything from that definition.
I cover from head to toe. Infront of other women, I wear modest clothes. But with breastfeeding [in a woman's gathering], I know women who try very hard to cover up, but many many times, as with all women I know the child themselves pull at the garments, and so forth.
Whatever is seen thereof is not haram, since there is a clear concession on that.
With regards to the doubts that some women have, concerning the words of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), Let no woman look at the awrah of another woman and let no man look at the awrah of another man; the awrah of a woman in front of another woman is from the navel to the knee, which they interpret as indicating that women may wear short clothes the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not say that it is sufficient for womens clothing to cover the area from the navel to the knee, so this cannot be used as evidence. What he did say was
that no woman should look at the awrah of another woman, so he forbade them to look, because the awrah of the woman who is wearing loose clothing may sometimes be exposed when answering the call of nature or for some other reason, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) forbade women to look at one anothers awrahs.__Do You Yahoo!?Tired of spam? As for your question, YES, I AM SURE of what I said about the AWRAH OF WOMEN IS FROM NAVAL TO THE KNEE. I will support this with proof. Now, the known fact is that a woman'sappropriate dress infront of other women is her whole body except her head, hands and feet.
But if a woman sees the calf of a woman (below the knee), then that is not considered Haram because it is still within the boundary of what is permissible. And if a woman is breastfeeding in the presence of other women, then she is not doing something haram because the breast in this case does not fall into the haram category. But it is not permissible for women to appear topless, or in two piece bathing suits infront of each other. That is contrary to the modesty that a Muslim woman should have. The fact that what is above the naval was made permissible was due to need for women to breastfeed

With all due respect. The information given, with regards to Wahabis celebrating Mawlids, is totally false.
Allah tells us in the Quran, "Oh you who believe! If a wrongdoer comes to you with news, then check it out [its authenticity], lest you falsely accuse someone, then you will regret your action."
Secondly, the word 'mawlid' means birth. This is the same thing as Birthday. Birthdays are a pagan practice, in which candles were lit on the anniversary of a birth with the belief that this will keep bad things away.
This paganism was never legistlated in Islam, nor before Islam. The Christians adopted it as they adopted other pagan rituals like Easter and Halloween.
The Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa salamnever legistlated that we celebrate his birthday. If Allah or him wanted this, it would have been legistlated during the lifetime of the Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa salam.
So if you truly love the Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa salam then obey him. Do not do something that he would not want you to do.

The Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa salam told us exactly what happens to a good and bad soul.
As a good sould is about to leave the world, it is greeted by good-looking angels with a shroud and hanout from heaven. They give him glad tidings and his sould comes out gently. He is taken up and the gates of skies open and in each level the angels ask, "Who is this sweet smelling soul? and they will say it is so and so the son of so and so.Then he will be shown his place in heaven, and his place in hellfire had he chosen kufr and disobedience. Then his sould is brought back to his body and his grave is made nice and wide for him.
The opposite happens to the disbeliever.

And how come when our scholars die, none of the Christians and Jews send us condolences or come to their funerls?

{Invite (mankind, O Muhammad ) to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islam) with wisdom (i.e. with the Divine Inspiration and the Qur'an) and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. Truly, your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Aware of those who are guided.}

The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: By Allah, if Allah guides one person by you, it is better for you than the best types of camels. [al-Bukhaaree, Muslim]
The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also said, Whoever calls to guidance will have a reward similar to the reward of the one who follows him, without the reward of either of them being lessened at all.

Brothers, sisters,
Our beloved Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa salam said, "Aid your brother to victory whether an oppressor or oppressed." The companions said, "We understand why we would aid our brother to victory if he were oppressed, but how could we do that when he is the oppressor?"
He sallallahu alayhe wa salam told them to aid the oppressor to victory by stopping him from committing this oppression.
Brothers and sisters, it is not new news to anyone of you that music is forbidden in Islam. The Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa salam said of music and singing, "Verily, singing makes hypocrisy grow in the heart in the same manner that water makes plant grow."
The Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa salam condemned music and singing and informed us that there will be among the ummah those who will be turned into swine and apes because of their engaging in such prohibited actions.
Brothers and sisters, Allah is free from being associated with music, especially that he has repudated singers as those diverted from guidance as stated in the Quran, "
And among people is he who purchases idle talk to become diverted from Allah's path."
According to tasfir of Ibn Katheer, there is consensus that the term 'idle talk' in this verse is referring to singers.
Brothers and sisters,
if you care about Yusuf Islam then pass this message to him. Help him see the danger of what he's doing and the path to which this is leading him to.
Brothers and sisters,
Your love of Allah and His messenger should come before your love for anyone else in this world. Thus, just because you love Yusuf Islam and he has started listening to music again, does not mean that you follow him.
You answer to Allah alone. You imitate the Prophet sallallahu alayhe wa salam.
Just because Yusuf Islam, may Allah guide him, turned back to music, does not mean that you engage in that too.
Fear Allah, brothers and sisters, and help one another in righteousness.
I ask Allah to keep us all in a straight path.
