MASJID OF AL-ISLAM
A Religious Non-Profit 501 (c) (3) Organization

January 22, 2006

Bismillah, FYI

Alhumdullah, It is inspiring to witnesses the way this united charity effort evolved in a natural organic way, by following the deen of our religion and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad.  It came about via an effort of masajids in the Dallas area coming together and using shura and concensus to strengthen their unity.  One of the shura members related a successful project in which he was involved in Florida, and the group voted to implement that same type program in the Dallas / Fort Worth Area.  This demonstrates  the powerful benefit of practicing shura and consensus both within and among our masajids, as opposed to drawbacks of practicing dictatorial rulership.

As Salaamu Alaikum Brother and Sisters:
Insha Allah, we will have a meeting to present our “Islamic Charity Day Event” Sunday January 29, 2006 from 11:00am to 2:00pm at Dallas Central Mosque, 840 Abrams Rd in Richardson, Texas. The meeting will be held in classrooms three (3) and four (4).

You may be aware, in June/2005, Br. Mohamed Suleman and myself initiated a meeting of brothers from IANT and South Dallas Masjids to help increase communication and to improve our working relationships. Consequently, the collaboration has grown and brothers from other Masjids (i.e. Plano, Arlington, etc) have also attended. As a result, the group decided we should embark on several projects. The top vote getter was an “Islamic Charity Day Event” for all Muslims in the DFW Metroplex.

The origin of the idea came from our brothers in Tampa, Florida where our own Imam Zia (ICI) moved from recently. These brothers and sisters have been presenting the program for the last seven (7) or eight (8) years with great success. The article was in the “Horizons” (ISNA) Magazine.

The Islamic Charity Day simply involves individual Muslims committing to give one “new” item to those in need. These new items include, but are not limited to: clothes, shoes, blankets, school supplies, toys, and non-perishable items.

The plan, at least for our first event, is to collect items at strategic locations in the DFW Metroplex and distribute them at a central location in Dallas. A steering committee was assigned to perform the necessary “legwork”. The information gathered and developed into a plan of action will be presented at the meeting on Sunday, January 29.

Your attendance is critical to the success of the program. This event has monumental potential in helping to improve our public relations efforts, and to building relationships within our own Muslim Community. We plan to serve between 5,000 and 10,000 children, women, and men in need in our area. It cannot happen without your help! Please plan to attend. Your cooperation and participation is greatly appreciated. Jazzak Allah Khairun. As

Salaamu Alaikum.
Sincerely,
Br. H. Mustafaa Carroll

{Invite (mankind, O Muhammad ) to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islam) with wisdom (i.e. with the Divine Inspiration and the Qur'an) and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better. Truly, your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Aware of those who are guided.}
(Holy Quran-16:125)

{And who is better in speech than he who [says: "My Lord is Allah (believes in His Oneness)," and then stands straight (acts upon His Order), and] invites (men) to Allah's (Islamic Monotheism), and does righteous deeds, and says: "I am one of the Muslims."} (Holy Quran-41:33)

The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "By Allah, if Allah guides one person by you, it is better for you than the best types of camels." [al-Bukhaaree, Muslim]

The prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)  also said, "Whoever calls to guidance will have a reward similar to the reward of the one who follows him, without the reward of either of them being lessened at all."
[Muslim, Ahmad, Aboo Daawood, an-Nasaa'ee, at-Tirmidhee, Ibn Maajah]
