Job Posting: Project and Communications Coordinator
The Canadian Arab Federation (CAF) is a national, non-profit, umbrella organization serving Arabs in Canada. CAFs mandate is achieved through government and media relations, education and information sharing, and direct service provision.
CAF is currently seeking the skills of an experienced professional to oversee its project and communications functions.
The Coordinator reports to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities
· Implements CAF projects through community outreach, volunteer management, research and analysis
· Builds alliances with community, media and government partners
· Assists in the coordination of annual events
· Implements communications strategy through proactive media relations, news releases and action alerts
· Maintains government, media and community databases
· Researches emerging issues as needed; creates backgrounders for stakeholders
Qualifications
· B.A. degree or equivalent experience
· Demonstrated knowledge of the Canadian Arab community
· Strong administrative, computer and organizational skills
· Understanding of the non profit sector
· Exceptional English communication skills, both written and verbal
· Experience in advocating through media and government
· Ability to work strategically and to shift priorities in a deadline driven environment
· Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholder groups
