Dear members of the list, Assalamu Alaikum. The present world-wide
protest and discontent on the issue of insulting the Prophet Muhammad (sm ) is
the direct result of the false worship of freedom and failure of the West to
accept reasonable restrictions on some rights .We require meaningful
freedom, not license to do anything. This license has led to so many aberrations
and made it difficult to control homo-sexuality,pornography.prostitution
etc. When we accept limits on so many things,
such as regulations on air and water pollution, regulation on traffic
and speed limits, regulation of government taxation and expenditure , copyright of
books and hundreds of other
matters, why can we not impose reasonable restriction on press
freedom. The world should give up this worship of freedom, put reasonable restrictions on this by acts of Parliament and save humanity from un-necessary tensions, conflicts and evils.An UN convention or protocol is also needed.
Some countries are blaming Iran and Syria. This is totally mis-placed and represents super-power arrogance. Shah Abdul Hannan,
