Why Foreign Diplomats are Talking Too Much on Politics?
News papers have reported that some political leaders
and eminent citizens on 3rd October demanded an end to foreign diplomats'
intervention in the country's politics and election.
They said this at a meeting held in the city, with
Jatiya Mukti Council President Badruddin Umar in the chair.The leaders called
on the officials of Western countries and members of visiting teams from those
countries to refrain from intervening in the country's politics. Also
expressing resentment at the 'intervention' of World Bank, Asian Development
Bank and IMF in the country's internal affairs, the leaders said these
institutions assist the multinational companies to exploit the country's
resources and raise their profits by entangling us in a web of loans and
conditions. Monjurul Ahsan Khan , Mujahidul Islam Selim, Bimal Biswas, Haider
Akbar Khan Rono ,Abul Hasan Rubel of Gono Sanghati Andolon and Sheikh Muhammad
Shahidullah of Oil-Gas-Electricity-Port-Mineral Resources Protection Movement
attended the meeting.
We feel that the interference of foreign diplomats have
reached an all time high. In this regard a European ambassador is on the top of
the list.He speaks on our political issues almost once or twice ievery week.
However we admit that most of the ambassadors of the Latin America,Muslim
countries and Africa avoid political comments. It is time for the British and
other European and North American governments to review the conduct of their
ambassadors ,their conduct will harm the h reputation of their countries. Some
of the ambassadors require to be withdrawn by their governments.
