As a workaround, drop the use of the journaled persistence adapter in favour of
the plain jdbcPersistence adapter. The journaled adapter has not had much love
over the past years where as the regular jdbc persistence adapter has had a
bunch of work that has improved parallel access to the db and hence performance.
