Wes McKinney commented on ARROW-190: ------------------------------------ I'm fairly -1 on creating a standalone PyPI build from source — as the toolchain grows in size this will become increasingly unsustainable. I agree that one should be able to install pyarrow assuming that libarrow and other library dependencies are installed and on LD_LIBRARY_PATH. I think it would be time better spent creating conda builds for everything (which has superior support for building / installing non-Python dependencies) > Python: Provide standalone installable sdist builds > --------------------------------------------------- > > Key: ARROW-190 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ARROW-190 > Project: Apache Arrow > Issue Type: Improvement > Components: Python > Reporter: Uwe L. There we need a fitting > MANIFEST.in and a build system that can also build arrow-c++ and its > thridparty dependencies. -- This message was sent by Atlassian JIRA (v6.3.4#6332)
