There are many different ways to deal with materialized views within Calcite.
Currently the documentation on this is somewhat lacking.
A few points to consider:
* Materialized views maintained by adapters but exposed to Calcite (e.g.
Cassandra)
* Materialized views created within Calcite
* Planner rules that perform rewriting to use materialized views
