[~aljoscha] Actually bit busy with our releases ... Waiting for 1.5 rc2 will 
test with that. Before we have tested with 1.5-SNAPSHOT but that was a long 
time ago.

FLINK-6557 may be relevant as it is also caused by passing Flink `Path` for

[~StephanEwen] mentioned that the problem is likely that the RocksDB backend 
uses {{org.apache.flink.core.fs.Path}} for referring to local directories, for 
example {{localRocksDbDirectories}}. The solution is likely to use Java 
{{File}} for that.

I would suggest that the fact that these follow-up exceptions disguise the 
original exception is an issue to be fixed in itself.

The reported exception is not showing the root cause, just some effect. There 
should be another exception earlier in the log that could give a hint.
