I just came across this PR. I think you issue is similar to what I've just applied in form of another PR for MSHADE-284 and MSHADE-285. The other had ITs and I just saw your ticket afterwards. Can you please verify if this also fixes your problems? It's already pushed and I've even deployed the 3.2.2-SNAPSHOT to our ASF snapshots repo.
