[Bug 107847] File content changed to hashes at crash or power loss
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=107847 --- Comment #8 from bmarcelly marce...@club-internet.fr --- The thread indicated in Comment 4 lists the OS and OpenOffice versions found in the english forum. In the french forum we have a similar pattern : - mostly Windows, from XP to Windows 8.1, some Linux, a few Mac. This reflects the omnipresence of MS-Windows on the market - any version of OpenOffice up to the most recent. - people complain because they have lost a document they have been working on for weeks, for example a student work. So this is never a simple one-page document. I don't think it is reproducible at will (and I could not reproduce). Killing the soffice process is not same as pulling the plug from mains. Developers should inspect the processes of document saving and document restoration, keeping in mind that the computer may stop anytime. It could be that during the restore process, due to incorrect data, OpenOffice does not really restore but writes null bytes instead, effectively destroying the last save of the document. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. [Bug 123868] New: Detect a null file instead of asking for import filter
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=123868 Bug ID: 123868 Issue Type: ENHANCEMENT Summary: Detect a null file instead of asking for import filter Product: General Version: 4.0.1 Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P3 Component: ui Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org Reporter: marce...@club-internet.fr CC: issues@openoffice.apache.org Created attachment 82123 -- https://issues.apache.org/ooo/attachment.cgi?id=82123action=edit Typical null file created by OpenOffice Sometimes (e.g. accidental PC power off) OpenOffice destroys a document and changes it to a file containing only bytes of value zero, see Bug 107487. Next attachment is a real corrupted document (I just changed the file name). Problem : When opening this junk, OpenOffice asks the user a filter to read it ! The average user then supposes that the document still contains something, selects an ASCII filter, and OpenOffice displays pages of hashes. Request for improvement : when a document is obviously destroyed, at least a warning message should be given. In the case of a document starting with lots of zero bytes, OpenOffice should say that the document contains nothing readable. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. [Bug 123869] New: Pasting IP addresses, dots are sometimes deleted
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=123869 Bug ID: 123869 Issue Type: DEFECT Summary: Pasting IP addresses, dots are sometimes deleted Product: Calc Version: 4.0.0 Hardware: PC OS: Windows 7 Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P3 Component: editing Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org Reporter: ger...@ghia.eu CC: issues@openoffice.apache.org When copy/paste an IP address from a html or text document to Calc, the dots disappear for some addresses. Eg - copy 75.125.255.255 from a document eg FireFox, Notepad - paste into cell A1 - result is 75125255255 - expected 75.125.255.255 Most IP adresses do paste correctly, eg. 87.99.64.0 66.235.222.10 75.125.0.0 85.249.176.0 64.92.160.0 60.31.0.0 201.54.128.0 86.57.202.0 86.57.204.0 80.227.0.0 85.255.112.0 However also a lot don't, resulting in: 46105114127 (should be 46.105.114.127) 61145121117 (etc.) 61145121118 61145121120 61145121124 61145121126 77247181160 82144220224 82195246192 82195246192 85251106128 85251106192 85251106200 85251106204 89187131128 91121167140 93167194248 94142128128 108171248250 135196106144 188207200112 195113214192 195127173128 208115111240 213131246192 213199218192 213239236128 217144240244 217144240248 220189228144 222170106200 98247255255 98255255255 99127255255 99191255255 99198127255 99255255255 101231255255 108171248250 108171255255 108178255255 10991255 109120191255 It seems that mosttimes IP addresses ending on .0 are pasted correctly. The error seems in general with non-zero parts at the end. But also a lot paste correct eg: 95.79.199.255 95.79.31.255 95.79.47.255 95.79.67.255 95.79.87.255 95.81.63.255 96.39.255.255 96.41.255.255 96.42.255.255 96.47.239.255 97.74.255.255 97.95.255.255 98.31.255.255 99.63.255.255 99.95.255.255 The origin of the IP address data is an IP block list from cPanel, which I tried to sort with Calc. But it does not matter if an IP is copied from an HTML document or a text document as eg Notepad or ooo Writer. I am pretty sure that reporter uses German Locale or similar, where the dot is used as thousands separator. Because of that as expected effect for me is NOT reproducible with server installation of AOO 4.1.0-Dev – English UI / English locale - [AOO410m1(Build:9750) - Rev. 1546757 - 2013-12-02] on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit), own separate user profile. Because for this locale the dot is not a thousands separator 75.125.255.255 will be inserted as a string. @ghia Dots should reappear if in menu 'Format - Cell - Numbers' you check Thousands separator Please feel free to reopen this issue if you find evidence that this one is a real issue.
