Ah, ok, now I see what you mean. I had to deselect the object and reselect it
to have the status bar being updated.

I am sorry. Either I haven't understood, or my installation behaves different.
If I make a right click on the diagram and then click on "object" the object
dialog pops up. The measure units in the object dialog are shown in
centimeters. If I click on "cancle" or on "ok" in both cases the status bar
doesn't change and still shows 1.97 x 1.97-

Sure, I've tested in Writer (on Linux) and don't saw a problem.

OK, with opening the Object dialog (right mouse click) and closing without any
changes via [Cancel] it then shows centimeters. Otherwise still inch.

So, it looks like a little update problem with measurement units.

Please make sure that you have set the measurement unit to centimeter (see menu
"Tools - Options - OpenOffice Writer - General - Settings"). Then also make
sure that on the "View" and "Grid" tab the values are set or showing
centimenters.

Then at least in my document the status bar is showing 5,00 x 5,00 for the
diagram.
