Ted Yu created HBASE-16830: ------------------------------ Summary: RSRpcServices#openRegion() should handle the case where table descriptor is null Key: HBASE-16830 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-16830 Project: HBase Issue Type: Bug Affects Versions: 1.3.0 Reporter: Ted Yu Assignee: Ted Yu
[~mantonov] pointed me to the failed TestClusterId in Jenkins 1.3 build. I ran the test locally with Java 8 and consistently stumbled over timeout in starting the mini cluster: {code} 2016-10-13 15:41:05,276 INFO [RpcServer.FifoWFPBQ.priority.handler=5,queue=1,port=59233] regionserver.RSRpcServices(1620): Open hbase:namespace,,1476398463993. 7ab1d0b3b7be8b9a7ce9af61c29d5342. 2016-10-13 15:41:05,277 ERROR [RpcServer.FifoWFPBQ.priority.handler=5,queue=1,port=59233] ipc.RpcServer(2320): Unexpected throwable object java.lang.NullPointerException at org.apache.hadoop.hbase.regionserver.RSRpcServices.openRegion(RSRpcServices.java:1679) at org.apache.hadoop.hbase.protobuf.generated.AdminProtos$AdminService$2.callBlockingMethod(AdminProtos.java:22737) at org.apache.hadoop.hbase.ipc.RpcServer.call(RpcServer.java:2270) at org.apache.hadoop.hbase.ipc.CallRunner.run(CallRunner.java:123) at org.apache.hadoop.hbase.ipc.RpcExecutor$Handler.run(RpcExecutor.java:188) at org.apache.hadoop.hbase.ipc.RpcExecutor$Handler.run(RpcExecutor.java:168) {code} It turned out that htd for hbase:namespace table was null. Once the NPE is fixed, the test passes. -- This message was sent by Atlassian JIRA (v6.3.4#6332)
