[~wdberkeley] Sorry for the late update -- somehow I missed your comment. Need
to radically clean up my mailbox or somehow organize it smarter.

Yep, the original patch has been posted for review September 13th:
   https://gerrit.cloudera.org/#/c/4412

There was very limited feedback in the first week, but then Adar suggested to
incorporate the utility into the umbrella 'kudu' tool: that's when I created
this ticket.

Right now, I think, the patch is in better shape and should be committed soon.

> It would be nice to see a small integration test that runs the
> insert-generated-rows against a cluster then verifies that it indeed inserted
> rows. Our CLI tools have a tendency to bit-rot because of the lack of tests;
> we're trying to change that with the new CLI tool.
> On that note, it would be nice to incorporate insert-generated-rows as an
> action into the new CLI tool.

[~aserbin]: Were you planning to pick this one up? If not, I'd like to take a
stab at it since I haven't gotten to work with the new CLI tools at all.

This would have been nice for the recent training exercises; we used
{{insert-generated-rows}} a lot, but we had to provide it as a separate binary
to download since it's not installed by default.
