*ROLE SUMMARY *

Openet Services group deploys a variety of solutions to telecom operators
globally to innovate business models related to how people, machines and
services interact with their network.  The Openet Framework is the network
event processing and transaction management software foundation upon which
all Openet products and solutions are developed.  The core of the Openet
Framework is a Correlation and Transaction Engine, a high speed performance
network transaction manager used by Openet products to process network
events and make real-time decisions at extremely low latency, at high
volume and in high availability deployments required by network operators.



Openet Services are responsible for: consultancy, requirements gathering,
architecture design, hardware and software installation, solution
customization and testing, deployment.

The role of a Project Manager within this team is to take responsibility
for the entire project delivery, from customer requirements to Support hand
over. The Project Manager must have the ability to manage a number of
projects concurrently and to exemplary standards, have a very clear
delivery focus and be adept at managing change. They must have a commercial
awareness, manage delivery to customers and the energy to play a leading
role in new business initiatives.

This role involves project managing the deployment of software solutions
including managing a team of software developers/testers (on/off shore),
co-ordinating the project deliverables from different teams, controlling
the quality of the solution, managing the schedule and interfacing with the
customer.



*PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES *

The main tasks and responsibilities of the project manager are:

·         Taking responsibility for all aspects of the delivery of projects
from requirements gathering to Support handover.

·         Interfacing with Program Management for commercial items.

·         Interfacing with Product Group regarding product releases to
ensure delivery of functionality as committed to Customer.

·         Ensure Openet’s Deployment Gating Process is adhered to by the
project team.

·         Preparing and planning projects, and driving those plans through
to a successful conclusion.

·         Managing and tracking effort, progress and highlighting ways to
keep the project on track in spite of issues – “can do” attitude is
essential.

·         Delivering the resultant projects on time, managing expectations
and handling issues as required.

·         Mitigating risks and addressing issues to ensure timely
completion of project milestones.

·         Ability to clearly monitor and report to Openet senior management
and customers on project progress with respect to effort, duration and key
milestones.

·         Represent Openet stakeholders at customer meetings and
presentations.

·         Mentoring and review of engineers leveraging individual skills to
maximise effectiveness.

·         Managing project teams of varying sizes; sometimes located in
different sites and time zones. Maintaining group dynamic to facilitate
individuals working as a team.

·         Providing clear leadership to the team and making informed
decisions on various options presented.

·         Willingness and flexibility to travel:  Average of 25% and up to
50%



*EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE INDICATORS FOR THIS ROLE*

·         8 + years industry experience, in a team lead or project manager
capacity within a software deployment environment.

·         Prior experience as a software engineer or business analysis is
preferable.

·         Evidence of strong leadership and vision.

·         Proven external customer interaction experience.

·         A solid understanding of the project development lifecycle.

·         Experience of development methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, ,
SCRUM etc)

·         Experience working within the telecommunications or cable
software industry including an understanding of telecom/cable networks,
technologies and applications.

·         Used to working under pressure.

·         A proven track record of delivering complex products to multiple
customers.

·         Can demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
for effective dialogue with colleagues within a project team and with
customers.





*QUALIFICATIONS *

Telecommunications, Computer Science or Software Engineering related Degree
is the minimum tertiary level qualification expected for this role.

Formal Project Management certifications (PMP, CAPM, PMI-ACP, PMI-SP, etc)
is preferred.
