*Immediate need in Plano, TX (will hire from Web Interview) – will need copy of H1B, EAD, & DL before interview process* *(based on experience) / open to a variety of experience levels (stronger is preferred)* *Confidential telecommunication client* *The Big Data Software Engineer is responsible for the design and development of high performance, distributed computing platforms using Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, NoSQL, other distributed environment technologies. This position will work closely with the Big Data Platform Architects to evolve and enhance the COMPANY Big Data Platform, evaluate new technologies, help to define Big Data standards and ensure the platforms end to end scalability, stability and manageability. It will also analyze, design, program, debug and modify new data products used in distributed, large scale analytics and visualization solutions. Position will interact with data scientists and industry experts to understand how the Hadoop platform can fulfill evolving requirements of the COMPANY Universal Data Hub.* *Specifically, this Big Data Software Engineer provides the backbone (the data and data platform) for the team as well as for the enterprise. This position helps to drive platform optimizations and drive smart business decisions across COMPANY. Additional responsibilities include the following:* - *Large-scale systems software design and development experience, with experience in Unix/Linux.* - *Work closely with the Platform Architecture team to help drive the definition and enhancements of the COMPANY BigData Platform architecture and technology stack * - *Lead feasibility analysis, select the technologies that provide the best solution and identify the products available that will best fit the solution proposed. Responsible for vendor and technology evaluations, constantly looking for the right tools to support key initiatives* - *Expert level competency with Scala, Java, Spark, Map/Reduce, high performance tuning, and troubleshooting of highly distributed systems. In addition, the candidate must also have the ability to mentor and develop others in these technologies. * - *Able to benchmark systems, analyze system bottlenecks and propose solutions to eliminate them;* - *Strong communication and presentation skills are required to effectively convey relevant insights to the teams.* - *Exercises judgment on how to effectively communicate highly technical and complex details through the use of visualization and careful selection of "knowns" versus "hypotheticals".* - *Familiarity with JVM-based languages including Scala and Java; Python and R; Hadoop family languages including Hive, Pig,; high performance data libraries including Spark, NumPy, TensorFlow or similar.* - *Familiarity with HDFS-based computing frameworks including Spark and STORM are desirable.* - *Experience with full stack automation, including OS build automation, Hadoop platform deployments, platform instrumentation and metric collection, reporting and alerting* - *Experience with modern visualization tools such as Grafana or Kibana, and Zepplein notebooks* - *Plus for a candidate who has in depth experience with Hortonworks HDP and HDF, LLAP, Druid, Hbase/Phoenix, AMS technologies.* - *Professional Level: Bachelors of Science in Computer Science, Math or Scientific Computing preferred. Requires 3-5 years of experience.* - *Senior Level: Bachelors of Science in Computer Science, Math or Scientific Computing preferred. Requires 5-8 years of experience.* - *Principal Level: Masters of Science in Computer Science, Math or Scientific Computing preferred.
