did you start itext with java commandline option e.g. : "-Xmx128m" or "-Xmx256m" to give java more memory ? otherwise the default maximum memeory is only 64m , which is obviousely not enough for your document.

I am using Itext for applying overlays. It was working fine. When i
tried to open a pdf document which is large (60 MB ) i am getting an
error  java.lang.outofmemory error while opening document. Can someone
explain me how to overcome this issue
