I also use the same version of netbeans and i also get the same error message
so i have resulted to deploying via the Glassfish admin (localhost:4848)

I had the same error, I would change the active GlassFish Server from v3 to v2
. This should easily fix the problem.
You can change the Server on right-Click the Project - Properies -Run -

is because you did something wrong in web.xml.But your problem is that you run
program on GlassFishV3, change server to GlassFIsh V2. And that will solve your
program. I think!
