One simple question which java debuger you can recomend.
I tried jikes debuger but it crashed after several debuging steps. AnyJ
debuger seems to do same things it crashes after some debuging.
BTW i heard that it can be jikes problem cause it generates corrupted
debug information. but compile with
kaffe seems to be faster than blackdown 1.1.7 java port, but it is not
jdk1.1 compatible. I cant get working any bigger java application with it.

The JIT take notice of enviroment variables
JAVA_COMPILER_THRESHOLD and JAVA_COMPILER_VERBOSE.
The default value of JAVA_COMPILER_THRESHOLD is `1',
Kaffe is a cleanroom implementation of the Java platform from Transvirtual
Technologies. There is no Sun code in it, it's open source, it's almost
JDK1.1-compliant, it has a few JDK1.2 features, and it runs on a lot of
platforms that Sun will never support.
Kaffe had an important release (1.0.5)
Benchmarks updated for borland's javacomp - this jit does not
compile routines that are only called once, so the benchmark main
now calls the top-level benchmark routine with an iteration of 1,
then calls again with the desired iteration count.

I didn't see mention of it on this list, but the status page
appears to be updated as of 10/30:
"There is still one known problem with SMP systems but
I hope we can do a 1.2.2 (and a 1.1.8) release in the second half of
November. "
also there is a 1.3beta port status page from the same date

something about it compare with Blackdown and IBM's Java for Linux?

I assume that really meant "3-5". Or otherwise it m

Anyone had success installing Oracle 8i on Linux? I'm fighting
some problems with the configuration tools, which are all Java-based.

You have to use the javax.comm package (Solaris version from
http://java.sun.com/products/javacomm) and the RXTX driver (from
http://www.frii.com/~jarvi/rxtx/).

Did you download the file using netscape on Linux? There are known
problems with doing it this way. Try downloading the archive
with an FTP client, and you should have no problems.
