I wave installed it on a 3800 with 64MB of ROM, but believe it or not, it leaves plenty of room thanks to jffs2; however, I would recommend installing it on a CF card. Try to leave as much room available for other more vital support utilities. Also make sure you install: libstdc++2.10-glibc2.2
