C A L L F O R V O L U N T E E R S!
                 --------------------------------------

The BlackDown Java-Linux (http://www.blackdown.org/java-linut.html) JDK
porting effort needs your help to improve the Linux ports of Sun's Java
Development Kit. We have needs for volunteers in all areas and for all
flavors of Linux (x86, Sparc, PowerPC and Alpha) to help reinvigorate the
ports.

If you have any skills in C programming, java programming, Motif widget
sets, LessTif, X11, signal handlers, user-based threading, kernel-based
threading, cgi programming, automated regression testing, or bug eradication,
we would love to have you join our team!

The entire porting effort is done under Sun's non-commercial source license
(http://www.javasoft.com/nav/business/license_dl.html) which has basically
4 restrictions.
   1. you may not give the source code to anyone
   2. you may not make any money from your porting effort
   3. ports are restricted to non-Sun supported platforms
   4. diffs can be release/shared

Please read the source license available in pdf or ps versions from the
link given above for complete details and judge for yourself!

By the way, if you haven't used the BlackDown Linux JDK in a while, please
check it out again. We have made significant progress recently and have
just released JDK 1.1.6 v4 which fixes many bugs including some that
resulted in poor performance on the Volano Mark 1.0 tests. There is a
mailing list, jitterbug bug database, and links to java tools, swing 1.0.3,
HotJava Browser 1.1.4, JIT compilers, IDE's such as FreeBuilder, NetBeans,
and Simplicity, etc.

If you are interested in joining our effort to help make the Blackdown JDK
port, the best way for developers to develop their Java applications,
please contact
Karl Asha ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) directly or make a posting to our open
mailing list at [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thanks,
The Java-Linux Porting Team
