A vulnerability in the Java Plug-in may allow an untrusted applet
to escalate privileges, through JavaScript calling into Java code,
including reading and writing files with the privileges of the user
running the applet.

I've noticed the Java plug-in (aka Activator) has been removed from your website
(presumably because it cored). Is a port/revision in progress? Can I see the
source code? When can I expect a plug-in for Linux to be available (with the JDK
1.2 port?)

You can try the new idlj compiler in the RMI-IIOP distribution. I'm on NT
now and I don't remember which platforms are fully supported (the bridge
includes new serialization DLLs) but the IDL compiler is PureJava, and
better than that old clunky idltojava which is probably dead.

Hi guys,
Thanks for your great work.
I have installed JDK1.2pre1 in a Debian 2.0 system and I have no

But you know, we need other tools for our Java development.
Can you tell me the plans for the JDK 1.2 plugin ?
And who is responsible for the idltojava compiler

The java.sun.com site notes that the Java Plug In (Activator) is available
for Netscape on Solaris. Has it been ported to Linux yet? And if so, where
would one connect for automatic download and/or place it on a local site for
download when an Plug-In requesting applet needs it?

However, this still doesn't make the Java Plug-in work. Is there a
way to hook the plugin up with the jre in my now-working JDK tree,
instead of the jre that ships with the plugin itself?

Thanks for taking the time to respond. This isn't the problem,
because it's the stock ControlPanel.html and is already using EMBED.
The plug-in is being triggered OK, it just doesn't seem to run
