This is simple,
jdk-1.2 doesn't work with glibc-2.1. Period (so far). You will
have to downgrade either one (if you downgrade jdk, go to jdk-1.1.6
because jdk-1.1.7 will still be broken).

I got an undefined symbol (__rtti_user) using jdk1.2 on a Linux platform with
glibc2.1.
