There is no need to set the CLASSPATH if u are using the BlackDown's jdk
and u installed it normally. All u need to do is to set the PATH to where
the java* binaries are present. u might need a CLASSPATH if u plan to use

Since one can get something roughly 20x as fast as my machine for $500
these days, I'm not sure I understand why agonizing over the JDK's
performance on a 486/33 is worthwhile.

sure I'm having a brain fart but the code snippet below always generates an
IOException(read error). The file and and permissions are ok. It reads the
first line writes the new file then generates the exception. I'd appreciate
