as far as i know, this list only discusses problems
with the jdk from blackdown but not general java
developer question. have a look at the forums at
www.java.sun.com . i think somewhere on their site is
a list of mailing lists (sorry for the bad
description).

AFAIK eclipse only has to be extracted/unpacked. in
the eclipse folder is a file named eclipse which
should be executable/made executable. with this file
eclipse can be started.
