Hi everyone,

I noticed that when I open an email in Microsoft outlook, JAWS doesn't, by
default, read the message. I have to hit insert+down arrow, and then JAWS
reads without any problem. Can anyone tell me if this is normal or not?

I'm using Office 2003.

Thanks,

Alma

Thanks, this seemed to take care of the problem for the most part. This has
annoyed me for some time and never thought of this

    Hi Al,

    Here are the steps.
    1 start menu
2 Hit the letter p for programs
3 Hit the letter m for Microsoft office sub menu, and enter
4 place focus on Microsoft outlook, but do not enter
5 hit the applications key, on a standard keyboard it is the 3rd key to the
right of the space bar
6 arrow up to properties and enter.
7 tab to the run combo box and arrow to normal window
8 tab to apply changes and enter
9 tab to ok and enter

once done, repeat steps to get window maximized
I noticed that you are running office 2000, so i don't know if you will
have a sub menu in your programs. if you don't just make sure you have focus on
Microsoft office before hitting the applications key.

    Roger

Would be glad to give this a try, where did you find Outlook properties?

      Hi Al,

Thought i would pass this along. i went to Microsoft outlook properties
and changed the run window to normal window, and applied and okayed it. I then
went back into it and changed it back to maximum window. It seems to be ok now.
Can you try this for me? I'm kind of interested to see if it takes care of your
problem too. I'm thinking it is another quirky 8.0 thing. Of coarse this is
assuming that your using 8.0.
      Hope it works.
      Take care,

I get this at times with Outlook 2000. I have not found a way to correct
it. What does help is once you open the message hit the Ctrl key to silence
then JAWS Insert key plus down arrow

        Hello everyone,

I'm running Jaws 8.0, and Outlook 2003. sometimes when i open a message
jaws repeats the first sentence twice. once this happens the rest of the
message is fine. I have Outlook set to run in maximum window. this is driving
me crazy, Has anyone had this problem? and how can i fix this?

        Thank you,
