Hi Everyone, After a lot of reading and a number of people calling Microsoft about vista re activation restrictions, this is what I have found out:
1. you can re install Vista on your machine up to 5 times in six months and after 6 months the number is reset back to 5. Where you could run into problems though is on OEM copies. I've read the OEM system builder agreement at Microsoft and it states that you may not transfer your license for Vista to another machine or if your system changes significantly over the way it was when Vista was first licensed to your machine. This means if you do a lot of hardware changes to your system you may trigger a re activation notice from Vista and according to the license you may not be able to re activate. However on Retail versions of Vista the license agreement states you can transfer your license 1 time to another machine. So as long as your system doesn't change drastically I would say you have nothing to worry about. These restrictions are a bit more heavy handed than the XP license agreement is and is something to consider when you purchase Vista.
