I have had the Adobe 8 version since it first came out and like its previous
version it comes with its own accessible format for screen readers and it is
free.

Hi Margaret,
I am running Adobe Reader 8, with Jaws 6.2 on Windows XP,
and have had no problems so far.
The download process is somewhat different than previous versions, as it is
actually a download manager for Adobe, instead of a stand-alone executeable
for the reader.

Taika,
I am sure that what Andrew means is that you close JAWS and then start it up
again. I have a similar problem as you and so when it occurs I use the
INSERT+F4 to close JAWS and the ALT+CONTROL+J hot key to restart
JAWS and everything is then fine. It usually takes about 15 seconds to

Thanks, Bob and Rick. I think I'm all set. The program is

without installing the two non-essential programs that I didn't want.

Try the following:
I've never kicked or screamed about test messages and I'm not doing that

Try minimizing the messenger, and Outlook Express windows.
HTH,
This almost certainly has to do with what program is on top. I second the
suggestion to minimize some of those applications. This is just something
that's inherent in Windows--sometimes, things cover up other things.

Just remember that while Adobe Reader does have accessibility _settings_,
the screen access technology companies still have to make their individual
programs work with it.
The problem with using Acrobat Reader 8 with JAWS 6.2 may be that JAWS 6.2
wasn't around at the time of; and, hence,
I understand that there are major security issues with Adobe 7.

You wouldn't use the Applications Key to do this, you would use ALT+F. Then,
navigate to the Send To item, press RIGHT ARROW, and select Desktop.

Have you heard an announcement from FS? When you do, that's when an update
will be available. If anybody on this list knew, they couldn't tell you,
anyway.

Corey,
I'm not disputing whether or not anyone else has had the same problem,
I was simply asking whether or not you contacted Freedom Scientific about
it.
If you are having an issue with Jaws in a particular situation,
then the best thing to do is make Freedom Scientific aware of it, in the
