what you do is if the png file is digitized you print it . open the png file then select print. then at the select printer option select the 'freedom import printer when you execute the print OpenBook will automatically open and convert the image to text if there is any text in the image.

i think jaws needs to have an audio ducking feature like NVDA has and you could turn audio ducking on or off and also have jaws detect whether your pc volume is muted or very low and turn it up to 30% or 40 percent if needed when starting jaws and unmute sound so you can hear it. On
